When Catalyzing Agent comes into play, name a creature or artifact.
When the named permanent comes into play, sacrifice Catalyzing Agent and choose one -- put a +1/+1 counter on that permanent; or that permanent gains haste; or put a charge counter on that permanent.

It's like a tailor-made bottle of stuff that improves the effectiveness of your spell. I don't think this effect is worth a mana and a card, though, so I'd like to keep it free.

If you managed to get a permanent to come into play in response to Agent's triggered ability, it could get multiple counters. I like that. For instance, if you named "Soldier," you'd get to put a +1/+1 counter on each token you got from a cycled Decree of Justice.

This is a hard card to think about. It seems to be balanced, but it's hard to be sure.

I can imagine a lot of cards I would not like to see named, but I don't think that card is broken, either.

For the record, the two card that came to mind as immediately nasty are Slith Firewalker and Hypnotic Specter. A second turn firewalker is bad. Not being able to kill it if I did get a 1/1 down first turn is even worse. And one of the few things that makes Swamp/Dark Ritutal/Hypnotic Specter bearable is the fact that it still has to wait a turn to attack.

That said, I think this card is a go.
