1  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Asylum Visitor on: March 19, 2016, 07:50:55 pm
Only plus I see is casting for madness after activating Dack or whatever. Other than that, this is NOT better than Bob. Seems better but is not. Remember pain seer? Yeah, he still draws more cards than this. Jori en sees no play and neither will asylum visitor.

Unless....This makes psychatog playable again.
2  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Trail of Evidence on: March 18, 2016, 01:47:28 am
This is a 3cmc card that does nothing. Needs instants/sorceries to give you a "clue" artifact that does nothing unless you spend even more mana just to draw one card.
4+ mana you spend on instant/sorcery to draw one card If you even sac the clue. So, no.
As a SB card? Wasted space. Just use dedicated hate. Against stax/tangle wire, will you be able to cast enough instant /sorceries for it to matter?
Why are we trying to close the game with Tezz and this instead of time vault combo?

I tried liking this card but it doesn't really do anything exciting or remotely cute. I wish it did.

Slower than J,TmS. I'm more interested in the ultimate though.
Playable indeed. Will it be played though?
4  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Nahiri, the Harbinger on: March 14, 2016, 12:56:53 pm
The colors aren't really the issue. Its the fact that each effect is so situational that makes this not so viable. At least in vintage.
5  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Thing In The Ice on: March 14, 2016, 12:04:29 am
I was thinking more in the lines of a deck like Thiim's u/b Standing Depths.
6  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: UB Standing Depths on: March 14, 2016, 12:02:53 am
@Thiim: I have been thinking of testing Thing In The Ice in this list. Any thoughts?
7  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Thing In The Ice on: March 13, 2016, 11:22:47 am
TITI can also be combined with Vampire Hexmage and Hex Parasite. No need for instants and sorceries ⌒.⌒
8  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Vintage Super League: Who Would You Like to See? on: March 11, 2016, 03:47:25 am

But by all means, if this continues to be a "thing", feel free to not watch.
The same could be said to those tired of watching Shops??
This gets us nowhere.

(p.s. I'm not a shop pilot. Dark Ritual, Drain and fow, all day everyday. Watching shops helps me understand the archetype better. That's  entertaining to me.)
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Vintage Super League: Who Would You Like to See? on: March 10, 2016, 08:28:00 pm
Why should there even have to be any "gentleman agreement"? just play. If they didn't want to pilot bazaar or shops, then dont. Seems silly to even announce it. If this continues to be a "thing", why not change the name to something more fitting and not Vintage Super League.
Maybe this:
Quote
Arbitrary Eternal Format Super League
10  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Thing In The Ice on: March 07, 2016, 06:28:25 pm
Seems powerful. If it didn't have the bounce effect, it would still be good. This is better than goyf. Doesn't need the yard and can pitch to fow. Survives a bolt immediately.

All that said, Monastery Mentor is a better finisher. Much more difficult to stop than this horror.
11  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Rules updates on: March 07, 2016, 05:54:50 pm
I dont see the need for this change..
Its not Like there were any issues or confusion before. Smh.

A fixed delver?
Could this see vintage play? Maybe in a W/B Hatebears? Do existing  Delver decks need this?
13  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Eternal Masters CONFIRMED on: February 25, 2016, 10:12:40 pm
To me, it seems elitist to want prices to keep getting higher.
I have mixed feelings on the matter, however. The only cards I think should have never been on the reserved list are Lands. Very simple. I, myself, can figure out and find a way to assemble a decent deck Without P9.
Using shock-duals work to a degree.
Then again, I build either combo/control or control/combo decks mostly, no matter what colors I use Wink

All that said, It's bittersweet to see prices rise to ridiculous amounts.
I am very excited about Eternal Masters and future Eternal format releases, no matter what.

@apocolyps6:
Ooooh, I forgot about Brimaz. How is he working out so far? Seems awesome in your list.
15  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: White Trash - Post Origins on: February 17, 2016, 10:07:08 pm
Against bigger, heavier on creature kinda decks or mass tokens: Blinding Angel,  Exalted angel, Baneslayer Angel, ghostly prison and maybe even circle of protection: ....wait for it....... White/ Red Smile
16  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Team Serious Birthday Invitational - 2/13/16 on: February 13, 2016, 03:57:14 pm
No matter how I tried to view this, mobile/pc/Xbox, I get: Invalid source Sad
Never got that before... Help?
17  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Odd Oath on: February 07, 2016, 12:51:13 pm
Being able to hardcast the Titan is very important. We can certainly Oath into a better monster. But Inferno Titan is much easier to cast than those better monsters.

Makes sense. At times I am ok with paying more mana for Hellkite having Flash. Then again, I run Mana Drain in my Oath list.
I will give Inferno Titan a whirl, though.

Also, kudos on assembling a masterpiece, Rich.
18  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Odd Oath on: February 03, 2016, 01:15:28 am
Wouldn't Bogardan Hellkite be better than Inferno Titan?
19  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: UB Standing Depths on: February 02, 2016, 12:16:12 am
In actually trying out a single Tolaria west, stage and Depths in a U/R/w shell similar to what Potucek ran a while back, as another option. Seems win-more but more testing is needed and I really wanted to prevent myself from going all Depths.Dec and stay well within landstill. Any thoughts on going more Landstill and less Hexmage?
20  Eternal Formats / Southern U.S. / Re: Houston, TX | 20 Proxies | Last Sunday of each month at Asgard games on: January 13, 2016, 10:29:33 pm
Is there any results, lists or report to this since its once a month?
21  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SCD] Flash of Insight on: January 12, 2016, 12:15:35 am
I remember tyrant Oath. Got my butt handed to me every time back then. I was actually thinking of tinkering with an old list ran by white dragon which is why I mentioned portent but I can't find the list. Thank you for the noxious tyrant list Smile I am actually making it 2 flash of insight and 1 dig through time. And cut the black tutors and maybe time vault combo as well. Dunno yet. One change at a time.
22  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SCD] Flash of Insight on: January 10, 2016, 10:56:23 pm
In oath this is better than deep analysis, is it not? Since FoI prevents you from drawing an oath target. I do admit, the reason I even considered Flash of Insight was because I thought I would dig deeper than Dig through Time when flashing it back.
I was running a split of FoI and DTT in an Bomberman Oath list similar to the Vintage Champ's.
I realized FoI isn't one of the best but I wondered if maybe someone had tried it and figured something I hadn't.
I will keep testing a single copy alongside Dig Through Time, for the time being. I might just make it Dack #3, Portent or a single Impulse in the end.
I do appreciate further comments and ideas Smile
23  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / [SCD] Flash of Insight on: January 10, 2016, 08:00:50 pm
Flash of Insight

I know this isn't a new card but I have looked through the forums in search of discussion for this card, at least on vintage, and I found nothing. I do remember Smennen running a single copy in KingJames Oath back then. Now with Dig Through Time restricted, and people aware of its usefulness, can we find room for a flash of insight in Oath or any of the current blue decks running Dack/Jace,VP?
I like that it dodges duress effects, unlike DTT. I hate that it doesn't get around spheres. Thoughts?

Fyi: My current evaluation is based solely on its flashback cost.
24  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Thought-Knot Seer on: January 10, 2016, 01:46:50 am
This card is too slow. Isn't mesmeric fiend/ tidehollow sculler better?
Dont get me wrong, Thought-knot seer is a good card but will see zero in any top 8s after its release. Maybe in a dedicated Eldrazi deck but not otherwise.
My two cents...
25  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: Blue Danube Waltz on: January 08, 2016, 10:17:32 pm
Can this deck function the same now that Cotv is restricted? What can we play in its stead?
26  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Natural State on: January 08, 2016, 12:03:38 pm
I like this for edh and cube. This is strictly worse than claim and decay. If it were to exile, then that would be a different story.
27  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / [OGW] Matter Reshaper on: January 08, 2016, 11:59:48 am
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/price/Oath+of+the+Gatewatch/Matter+Reshaper#paper

Saw this on mtggoldfish.com
Thought it is interesting enough to discuss.
Is there a place for this in shop decks or any of the midrange decks?
One downside is you get no effect if stp hits this. Plus side is artifact hate doesn't affect it and plays well with thorn and Thalia.
I like at least one in my U/W control list running Trinket mages and Back to Basics.
Thoughts?

Anyway we can get a look at the uw bomberman and short doomsday lists? Also, Really liking the bug lists.
30  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Jori En, Ruin Diver on: January 04, 2016, 10:43:20 pm
@gkraigher
Yes, I know. I misread the card at first glance upon preview but then realized you only draw one card when you cast your second spell on your turn. If you could draw a card from casting the second spell of any turn, then yes, that would be a different story. Although, still leaps from being broken. A bit of hyperbole on my part, lol.

I'm trying so hard to like this card but find something better to run in its place every time.
