Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Asylum Visitor

Only plus I see is casting for madness after activating Dack or whatever. Other than that, this is NOT better than Bob. Seems better but is not. Remember pain seer? Yeah, he still draws more cards than this. Jori en sees no play and neither will asylum visitor.
Unless....This makes psychatog playable again.

This is a 3cmc card that does nothing. Needs instants/sorceries to give you a "clue" artifact that does nothing unless you spend even more mana just to draw one card. 4+ mana you spend on instant/sorcery to draw one card If you even sac the clue. So, no. As a SB card? Wasted space. Just use dedicated hate. Against stax/tangle wire, will you be able to cast enough instant /sorceries for it to matter? Why are we trying to close the game with Tezz and this instead of time vault combo?
I tried liking this card but it doesn't really do anything exciting or remotely cute. I wish it did.

Seems powerful. If it didn't have the bounce effect, it would still be good. This is better than goyf. Doesn't need the yard and can pitch to fow. Survives a bolt immediately.
All that said, Monastery Mentor is a better finisher. Much more difficult to stop than this horror.

To me, it seems elitist to want prices to keep getting higher. I have mixed feelings on the matter, however. The only cards I think should have never been on the reserved list are Lands. Very simple. I, myself, can figure out and find a way to assemble a decent deck Without P9. Using shock-duals work to a degree. Then again, I build either combo/control or control/combo decks mostly, no matter what colors I use All that said, It's bittersweet to see prices rise to ridiculous amounts. I am very excited about Eternal Masters and future Eternal format releases, no matter what.

Being able to hardcast the Titan is very important. We can certainly Oath into a better monster. But Inferno Titan is much easier to cast than those better monsters.
Makes sense. At times I am ok with paying more mana for Hellkite having Flash. Then again, I run Mana Drain in my Oath list. I will give Inferno Titan a whirl, though. Also, kudos on assembling a masterpiece, Rich.

In actually trying out a single Tolaria west, stage and Depths in a U/R/w shell similar to what Potucek ran a while back, as another option. Seems win-more but more testing is needed and I really wanted to prevent myself from going all Depths.Dec and stay well within landstill. Any thoughts on going more Landstill and less Hexmage?

I remember tyrant Oath. Got my butt handed to me every time back then. I was actually thinking of tinkering with an old list ran by white dragon which is why I mentioned portent but I can't find the list. Thank you for the noxious tyrant list I am actually making it 2 flash of insight and 1 dig through time. And cut the black tutors and maybe time vault combo as well. Dunno yet. One change at a time.

In oath this is better than deep analysis, is it not? Since FoI prevents you from drawing an oath target. I do admit, the reason I even considered Flash of Insight was because I thought I would dig deeper than Dig through Time when flashing it back. I was running a split of FoI and DTT in an Bomberman Oath list similar to the Vintage Champ's. I realized FoI isn't one of the best but I wondered if maybe someone had tried it and figured something I hadn't. I will keep testing a single copy alongside Dig Through Time, for the time being. I might just make it Dack #3, Portent or a single Impulse in the end. I do appreciate further comments and ideas

Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / [SCD] Flash of Insight

Flash of InsightI know this isn't a new card but I have looked through the forums in search of discussion for this card, at least on vintage, and I found nothing. I do remember Smennen running a single copy in KingJames Oath back then. Now with Dig Through Time restricted, and people aware of its usefulness, can we find room for a flash of insight in Oath or any of the current blue decks running Dack/Jace,VP? I like that it dodges duress effects, unlike DTT. I hate that it doesn't get around spheres. Thoughts? Fyi: My current evaluation is based solely on its flashback cost.

This card is too slow. Isn't mesmeric fiend/ tidehollow sculler better? Dont get me wrong, Thought-knot seer is a good card but will see zero in any top 8s after its release. Maybe in a dedicated Eldrazi deck but not otherwise. My two cents...

@gkraigher Yes, I know. I misread the card at first glance upon preview but then realized you only draw one card when you cast your second spell on your turn. If you could draw a card from casting the second spell of any turn, then yes, that would be a different story. Although, still leaps from being broken. A bit of hyperbole on my part, lol.
I'm trying so hard to like this card but find something better to run in its place every time.
