back to other possible win conditions discussion, in the deck i'm using i have underworld dreams as an alternate win condition. the deck can generate black mana easily enough with rituals. Though this slightly hinders the quick win the deck is capable of making but it sets up a clock and discurages an opponent from using draw spells slightly.

alot of the time i get out turn 1 UD and go off with draw7s turn 2.

i just wanted to suggest this is a way to get high or difficult casting cost creatures from your own hand into play. you could use it to counter one of your own zero cost artifacts or something to throw down a big creature. then again there are probably many cards that do this in the vastness of T1.

i just thought i'd throw out something to the mana drain communtiy concerning one of the new 5D cards:

Text: each player skips thier upkeep step

i remembered afew weeks back someone was talking about mystic remora as a card draw method but it was shot down due to the cumulative upkeep cost. now if you have no upkeep step you have no opportunity to pay the cost thus a low cost draw effect that triggers when ever your opponent does just about anything outside of abilities and creature summoning.

i was wondering if it was possible to make cumulative upkeep cards competitive in current T1.

great CU cards exist such as:
Elephant grass that can effectively counter aggro and is good stopping psycatog.
Mystic remora for card draw all game long. In most T1 tournaments i've attended most of an opponents card draw and board establishment is done in the first few turns in the match so if you put this down first you draw for the moxes they put down and you get some benefit out of thier draw and counter spells.
Mesmeric trance for end of turn hand establishment. you may not gain card adv but you can get the cards you need faster.
Dreams of the Dead if your deck is geared towards creaturesof the black or white variety.
Glacial Chasmfor total damage negation. difficult to get rid of outside of wasrelands and strip mines.

these are just afew bad cards made good in combination with the hub. though i am unsure of how competitive such a deck would be due to the need for having the hub out. though slaver seems to work even though it primarily relies on the mindslaver. perhaps a similar build would help, but then why not just use slaver?  Wink

though i don't have a mockup of a deck yet i plan to work on one and submit it to you guys for judgement.

no no, if you want a wicked hard infinite combo all you need is two artifact cards in your hand, a metal worker on the board with voltaic construct along with a core tapper in addition to a magistrate scepter.

so the metal worker gets mana, untaps with the construct. do this a couple times to be able to tap and untap the core tapper to put charges on the scepter and then you can have infinite turns.

isn't that simple?  Wink

on the note of mask decks, could eater of days work in it? with the mask you get out a 4 cost 9/8 flying trampler without skipping your next two turns.

i usually get knocked out of the CC tourneys just shy of the T8. you guys can look foward to tourney reports from me from now on  Wink also after the upcomming one on the 27th i'll post my deck and see what improvements you guys can suggest.

not sure if this has already been thought up or not but with the voltaic construct creature in darksteel opens an infinite mana combo if used with metal worker. just need two artifact cards in hand to produce all the colorless mana you want.

a mishra's workshop to get out metal worker first turn then just need to drop a land second for the construct.

this mana could be used to put out the myr matrix second turn and make infinite myr's or a snake basket for infinite snake tokens. probably more artifact combos could be made.

just a thought  Wink
