1  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Djiin Illuminatus + Dark Ritual on: May 21, 2007, 09:08:34 pm
Can you replicate a dark ritual with Djiin Illuminatus and let the copy resolve for mana then replicated it some more to gain infinite black mana?
2  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / What is the best way to sell a large collection of cards? on: January 08, 2007, 10:58:26 pm
I am looking to unload most of my collection of magic cards and am wondering the best way to sell them.

Obviously if I try to sell them to a dealer it would be the easiest way to unload them but I would probably not get there value. If I go the eBay route would it be better to just sell it as one auction as a large collection or would it be best to put individual auctions for each playset?

Just to give an idea I estimate the collection to be between $3000-$4000 with 2 pieces of power and many play sets of exspensive cards (duals, drains, etc).
I have a 100% feedback rating from eBay with about 100 feedbacks most of which are buying but a few are as a seller.

3  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Maybe it could be more random on: November 22, 2004, 10:07:47 pm
Maybe it would be good as a random Tutor.

Shuffle your library, then put the top card of your library into your hand.

Might be kinda interesting.
4  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Thulsa Doom: Marsh Viper/Viridian Longbow Poisen 1.5 Deck on: November 19, 2004, 01:27:56 am
If you want a faster kill, Instill Energy is very important. It gives your timmy/snake haste, and it allows it to untap so you can use it again. I'd personally also increase the amount of Quirion Rangers in the deck. Untapping the Timmys to use them multiple times a turn at the cost of your land drop is very good.
5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Top 8 on: August 31, 2004, 12:12:30 am
I made top 8 with a workshop aggro deck, very similiar to the one that placed Second at Gencon. I was 4-0 and IDed into Top 8 and won then lost 2 close games to control slaver. The tournament was well run and a lot of fun.

Also the oversized Lotus I won is awesome, it may not be worth too much but it is definetly a unique prize and looks cool pinned to my wall.

Other important information:

This is the second tounrmanet Matt is hosting. Last tournament we had 32 people with a Lotus for first place, Mox Ruby for second and a box was split for 3rd and 4th. This time he is again going to give away a lotus no matter how many people show, but the rest of the prize structure will depend on how many people show. It was a good time, hopefully we will not conflict with anyone else this time to get more people in on it.

Last tournament ran very smoothly, they only had 1 judge but as it was smaller turn out, so more were not need. Matt would like to get another judge or two to keep things in order, if you are interested you can PM me.

Similiar tournaments will be held on 7/25, 8/15, 9/26 and 10/10.

There will be a dealer on site, and the Knights of Columbus is located right of a main road, so there is plenty of places to eat near the site.

Anybody who can come down and support these guys will definetly have a good time, Matt is one of the best shop owners I know and he runs a good show.

Any questions please call the store or PM me and I hope to see you there.
7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Carpet of Flowers on: May 12, 2004, 11:30:33 am
Carpet of Flowers seems good enough where you could run it main deck. Very few decks do not run islands, 7/10, Sui Black, Welder Mud and FCG. But none of these seem like threats as none can handle a Verdant Force, except FCG which could combo around it. The carpet would only be dead in a few match ups, but its strength against control cannot be ignored. On fourth turn you could be casting Verdants instead of Eureka, game 1.
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Pyrite Spellbomb on: May 09, 2004, 01:35:36 am
Pyrite Spellbomb may be worth testing over Fire/ice, but I am relucant to cut pitchable cards for Force of Will. Not that I have a problem having a card to pitch, but I would rather pitch a fire/ice over a Thirst or Wish if a threat comes down early. Also, in the fish match up I like to trade 2 for 1.

I also would be reluctant as it doesn't help against Null Rod or Matrix, although I do admit it could lead to some good welder tricks early game.

10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Skeletal Scrying on: May 04, 2004, 12:07:40 am
I like your build of EBA, it is similiar to a build I placed 5th at Hadley with, which can be seen here.

http://www.morphling.de/coverages/top8decks.php?id=111

I like this deck with the basic lands as it helps the battle against wastes.
But recently I have been testing a more black heavy version with 3 Skeletal Scryings and 3 Negators instead of Decree of Justice. The Negators are great agaisnt any control deck and the scryings help the deck have a draw engine, which I think is EBA's main weakness. So that being said I think more skeletal scryings would help your build.

Also even with the basics do you have trouble finding WW for the angel sometimes? I know I lost my game in top 8 and some more at Waterbury with a morph creature on the table I couldn't flip due to Wasteland ownage... So I have also tryed running 2 City of Brasses in place of an island and the 4th Underground sea, which helps a lot.

Library is a must include in this deck, it helps too much in the control match up not to run.

All in all I believe EBA is a strong deck, it just needs to adapt a good draw engine as decks like GAT, Hulk and Slaver which have good engines roll right over you.
11  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Black Summer on: May 01, 2004, 01:41:23 am
I remember during Black Summer, this deck being very broken.

//LD 12
Strip Mine 4
Sinkhole 4
Icequake 4

//HD
Hymn Hymn I Win 4
Hypnotic Specter 4
Mind Twist 1

//Control
Nether Void 2
The Abyss 1
Nevinyrral's Disk 3

//Tutors
Vampiric Tutor 2
Demonic Tutor 1

//Mana
Dark Ritual 4
Black Lotus 1
Sol Ring 1
Mox Jet 1
Swamp 17
Lake of the Dead 1

//Combo
Necropotence 4
Mirror Universe 1

For those of you who did not play magic back then, 1996 was known as black summer because.... black was broken, 4 Necropotences is ridiculous.

This deck worked by using a Combination of Land Destruction, in the form of Strip Mine, broken when unrestricted, Sinkhole and Icequake, along with Hypnotic Specter and Hymn to gain advantage over your opponent.

Then using the brokeness of Necropotence, draw cards to find mirror universe. Before sixth edition and the stack that RUINED magic, j/k stack is good, you could necropotence down to 0 life and switch life with the mirror to win.

If this doesn't work then with all the LD, HD and Nethervoid, you could ride Hypnotic to victory.

I do remember some versions using blue to add power and force of will and I also remember some using other control cards, such as Icy Manipulator, Royal Assassin, and even Demonic Hordes!

As a note demonic consultation has better synergy with Necropotence then Vampiric Tutor, but I didn't like it because everynow and again you'd remove your Mirror from the game.

I made this from memory as I could not find a list so I did not make the sideboard. Although a couple more Abysses, Nether Voids and Contagion were iused.

Also I know for a short period Strip Mine and Wasteland were both unrestricted but I did not play the deck then so I did not include it.

All and all I remember this deck being ridiculously broken, and could only imagine how strong duress would make this deck.
12  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Damping Matrix on: April 05, 2004, 12:24:38 am
Damping Matrix seems like a good option to help in your Tog and Slaver match ups. I include two sometimes even three main board in my E.B.A build, depending on the meta game, and it is very effective.

Also I have been test Pristine angel as a sideboard option in heavy aggro environments. So far it has been... decent, but it testes better then Iridescent does. It's ability to double as an attacker and blocker, as well as deal with the large artifact creatures you said you sometimes have problems is definetly a plus. I will add though, exalted angel is by FAR better then pristine angel, jus you expressed concerns about being able to protect it.
