Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Ghast Deck

My question is how does this deck win? Ob Nixilis with fetches and Fastbond?
Have you thought about going the beatdown route instead? Tarmogoyfs or perhaps the Dark Depths combo? Tombstalkers might be good if you run some Sensei's Divining Top for Confidant.
I tried DD combo within this type of Ghast deck and it usually failed. You can win with straight Ghast beats and Ob Nix is pretty amazing. Couple those with a bunch of discard and the deck runs pretty well.

When I need a Magic break I usually play: Team Fortress 2 (Half-Life 2) Counter-Strike Source (I just load up a bunch of bots on high difficulty and slaughter) Guild Wars (A lot of fun if you have time... i sort of ran out of time to keep doing all of the quests and advancing)
If you are just sick of Vintage, why don't you just try another format for a bit? Do some FNM's or Drafts for a breather?

I'd almost rather play Bazaar to keep digging through the deck. You could always hardcast Bloodghast too, which isn't really all that difficult.

There are still a few card choices to be decided on..
Ob Nixilus is what my friend used (as a 2 of) and he was fantastic... the dude is a beast for 5 mana.
Sadistic Sacrament is another card I didnt list
Leyline + Helm can make its way into the deck as well

Here is the start of what I was considering...
Land: 4 Verdant Catacomb 3 Bloodstained Mire 8 Swamp 2 Bayou 4 Wasteland 1 Stripmine 1-2 Bazaar
Creatures: 4 Bloodghast 4 Dark Confidant 3 Gatekeeper of Malakair
Artifact: 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Jet 3 Skull Clamp
Spells: 2-3 Crop Rotation 2 Life from the Loam 4 Duress 4 Hymn to Tourach 2 Thoughtseize 4 Dark Ritual 1 Vampiric tutor 1 Demonic tutor 1 Imperial Seal
One of my friends played a similar list at RIW this past weekend (unpowered) and it ran fairly well.

I am a big fan of Negate.
I was playing 2 Spell Pierces the other day, then switched them to Negate and that was fantastic. I top 8'd at RIW this past Sunday with:
Land: 13 1 Tolarian Academy (used it as a stripmine in Mirror match) 4 Underground Sea 3 Flooded Strand 2 Polluted Delta 3 Island
Artifact: 13 5 Moxen 1 Black Lotus 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mana Vault 1 Sol Ring 1 Sensei's Diving Top 2 Voltaic Key 1 Time Vault
Instant: 21 4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain 2 Negate (was fantastic, ALL DAY LONG) 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Brainstorm 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Thirst for Knowledge 1 Intuition (I boarded out for most G2 and G3's and was really only helpful once to dig up 3 FOW) 1 Fact or Fiction (I played it once and it was a BOMB) 1 Gift's Ungiven (Play it and Win) 1 Rebuild (Saved me a few times) 1 Repeal (Never used it) 1 Darkblast (saved me once... gotcha welder!)
Sorcery: 7 1 Merchant Scroll 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Imperial Seal 1 Ponder 1 Time Walk 1 Yawgmoth's Will 1 Tinker
Planeswalker: 1 1 Tezzeret The Seeker
Creatures: 5 1 Inkwell Leviathon 4 Dark Confidant
I flipped Inkwell once, but I won that game still.

i think this is a great way to introduce more power into the market. I welcome every new player that got their first piece of power fresh from a pack of zendikar! I have bought several thousand euros worth of cards and I don't mind at all that some lucky player is going to get a piece of power for 3 euro.
Chances are, they will be spending a lot more than that to pull one of these. The numbers aren't in peoples favors.

\ \Without a double tyrant, you can't do the whole "bounce their board" thing and shut them out, or hit infinite storm/mana , in which case I think we would want to just play Tyrant Oath, and I don't think I'm the only one who finds Tyrant Oath to be dead without the Gushbond/Brainstorm/Scroll engine.
You only need 1 Tyrant, and 2 0CC artifacts to get the infinite storm/mana.... right?

Have you thought about adding a dark ritual to give yourself a little more acceleration?
I was actually going to look at Rit and changing up the deck a bit over the weekend. I like all of the MD Artifact hate, but the Rits would make it a little more Stormy, and would probably tempt me to also run a Tendrils instead of an ETW.

Depending on the deck I am playing against, I tend to try to Gifts at the end of opponents turn, or in response to something else they are doing, when they are tapped out (against drain decks).
As for the piles, it really depends on board position. Sometimes you may want to Gifts for a D. Rit, C. Rit, Lotus, and X Mana source. Other times, you may want to show a full tutor package (or at least 3, to guarentee yourself 1) so you can get your Yawg Will.
If there is something you really want, you can always put Tinker in the pile, and the opponent will probably put at least that 1 in the GY because they won't want to see a DSC or Inkwell. Now they have to choose only 1 of the remaining 3, and if they give you Tinker, at least you have a pretty good clock on them.

For your decklist, I'd maybe look into stuff that will prevent their creatures from attacking until you can build up, but they may have answers....
Windborn Muse is pretty good.
I'd maybe play Exalted Angel (give you a flying threat).
Look at Angel Staxx in Legacy, you can tailor it to Vintage.
Mainboard: 4 Flagstones of Trokair 4 Wasteland 1 Stripmine 2 Ancient Tomb 3 City of Traitors 7 Plains 2 Horizon Canopy 4 Mox Diamond 3 Exalted Angel 3 Magus of the Tabernacle 1 Trinisphere 4 Smokestack 4 Chalice of the Void 3 Crucible of Worlds 4 Ghostly Prison 3 Suppression Field 4 Armageddon 4 whatever Aven Mindscensor, STP, Sensei's Divining Top who knows...
# 60
Sideboard: 4 Jötun Grunt 2 Pulse of the Fields 3 Disenchant 3 Pithing Needle 3 Rule of Law
just a thought.

Have you thought about switching away from White?
I'd take a look at some decks like G/W (Also BGW) with Quasli Pridemages, Gaddock Teegs, Null Rods, etc
Also, BUG Fish is pretty good.
Do you own tarmogoyfs? You could always try a B/G build instead of B/W.
edit: seeing as a lot of the field is aggro.. what about maybe combo? you could maybe play Ad Nauseum Tendrils?
BUw ANT - Something along these lines... not perfect... ------------- 3 Underground Sea 2 Scrubland 5 Fetchland 1 Swamp 2 Island 1 Tolarian Academy
2 Mox Diamond 3 Chrome Mox Do you own another Mox Diamond or any Chrome Moxen? 1 Mana Vault 1 Mana Crypt (If can get one) 1 Sol Ring 1 Lion's Eye Diamond
1 Yawgmoth's Will 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Mystical Tutor 3-4 Ad Nauseum 2-3 Tendrils of Agony 1 Brainstorm 1 Ponder 1 Demonic Consultation
4 Dark Ritual 4 Cabal Ritual
1 Necropotence
4 Duress 3 Orim's Chant 2 Chain of Vapor 1 Hurkyl's Recall 1 Repeal

In tournament scenes the decks typically played are: G/W Fish, BUG Fish, Stax/Shop (Red Aggro, B/R, etc), Tezzeret (Different Variants), Ichorid, Painter Servant/Grindstone, Oath of Druids... I think I covered a good chunk.
Your deck that you posted isn't really a "Combo" deck. It is more along the lines of a prison deck.
How has it performed so far? What are some cards you'd think about taking out that aren't useful?
Edit: Also, does anyone in your area use Power?

Id sign it.
How many signatures do you think it's going to take to show we are seriously serious?
What kind of plot do you have to gather such a large number of signatures and what is the easiest way to accomplish this?
I was thinking you could draft the letter and have it posted online. If you could convince a couple of people in different regions of the country (world??) to gather signatures at the different tournaments they go to, or even just to gather signatures from people they know who play eternal, then you could get quite a few signatures in a short time. Let's face it, we'll need more people than just Menendian collecting signatures.

I am surprised this thread hasn't turned into the sickest collection of scans/pictures the magic world has ever known.
I agree, but it seems like a lot of people who own power don't really own more than 1 set. You get the few guys who have massive collections and lots of power, such as Ben Carp, then you get us average joes The only way I'll ever own multiples of power is if I win it, in which case, I might try and trade my power up to A/B.
