1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Gurzigost... on: February 24, 2005, 06:54:30 am
Color= Green  Type= Creature - Beast  Cost= 3GG TO(R)
Text (TO): 6/8. ; At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice ~this~ unless you put two cards from your graveyard on the bottom of your library. ; {G}{G},Discard a card from your hand: You may have ~this~ deal its combat damage to defending player this turn as though it weren't blocked.

What is the interest of gurzi in the oath build?
If you oath in an other creature with a blessing after oath in gurzi, you must sacrifice it from his own capacity the next turn... Except if you can pay GGGG or GG+spell.. That is terrible...

Plus the two card in your grave goes on bottom of your LB...
The whole point is that you would NOT run Blessing. That way, you oath up Gurzigost the turn after you play oath, and then the next turn, you dump your whole library into the graveyard, and then use the 'Gost to put exactly two cards back. It's like the old Oath/Krosan Reclamation combo, only more fragile and slower.

Hey guy, if their are so many WS.dec you'd better use vandal than mox monkey...

Using Recruiter and ringleader is quite a bad choice in a tempo deck, they make you stall too long to be using in a tempo deck...
I would replace them with gempalm*3 fanatic*4 and one more SGC (wich is realy usefull in a tempo deck via many acceleration like tomb's, crypt etc and the lackey)
In fact, if take care of those change, you must remove the useless sharpy...

You have to run at least 1 forest in MD if you have 3 blood moon in SB (I prefere choke than blood moon because of the number of basic land used in current meta...)

Crucible could be a good way to tempo enough to kill your opponent but it usually does the same work than choke... So if your meta is WS, use CoW, if your meta is control, use Choke...

In your current version, sol ring is useless and using ESG would be a good way to have a fast null rod in play or the G mana to play choke/other G tools...

8 Shaman? It's maybe too many for DCI rules Wink

Mox diamond would be very bad because of running only 14 lands which is not enough for mox diamond...
Mox chrome could be exchange with a fetch Ithink, because it is easily play and accelerate a lot...

Just a comment about your reason to play this deck, you already notify the biggest problem of this one: Grave hate, but you forgot mana denial which as the same effect that on other combo deck, this may be a biggest mystake because of grave hate that aren't as play as before...

Sry for my english a poor frenchie Smile

First, congrats for this 5th place with an nonarchetype deck Smile

Just 2 questions about your deck:

Why you no't playing 1 B2B more? It's a great lock condition...
Why not playing darksteel colosus MD, good kill condition vs lot's of aggro none-white combo deck.

Sry for my english Smile
