Sad news. A real class act. Will be sorely missed.

RIP Rudy.

Big Hello and Good luck to Azhrei, and even to my fellow Canadian Raph.

We have way too many/not enough of these threads, by the way.
4  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Loam Transmuter on: July 21, 2007, 06:43:53 pm
Hrm. I think the first ability should definitely be Target Player (Is this even a green ability, though?).

The second ability seems clunky. You get so many things for 3 mana. You should probably make it OR, but make each effect better, and only once per turn. Should be something like You gain 4 life OR Draw two cards (Counsel of the soratami is priced at 2U, and is very fair) OR put a 2/2 Saproling Token into play (Not quite a Call of the herd). You may this ability once each turn.

Also, should the second ability be sorcery speed only?

Oh, 3/5 for 4 seems pretty good. Maybe a 3/4, or give it Defender.
5  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Pheromite Sliver on: July 21, 2007, 06:39:33 pm
You could maybe switch it to Sunburst, copying Etched Oracle a little.
6  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Argivian Enchanter on: July 21, 2007, 06:37:00 pm
I'd put Vigilance on there over First Strike for flavor reasons. Also, what enchantment costs 1 that is even worth this card? Exploration? Land Tax is illegal in everything except type 1. I'd definitely put it up to 2, and keep it "put into hand".
7  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007 on: June 26, 2007, 12:17:19 pm
For those who don't know, Chris Benoit was a wrestler who performed for the WWE/F, WCW, ECW and other federations in North America and Japan. He's easily been credited as one of the best performers of his time.

As per WWE.com: WWE.com has learned that according to the Fayette County, Ga., Sheriff's Office, the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and their son, Daniel, Monday were the result of a double murder-suicide.

17.) Whenever an argument (or anything for that matter) is won, the phrase "GG!" is said.

Someone I know does that, I feel like hitting him every time. Thank god he hasn't been to magic in a while.
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Facebook Group: Girlfriends & Family of Magic Players on: June 12, 2007, 12:11:18 am
15) When losing an argument with their significant other, they finally concede defeat with the phrase "I Scoop."

Heh, I use the term "scoop" quite often, actually.

I do, but only when around magic people. Using it in real life is like saying L-O-L Sad

To be fair, I use poker terms, and sports terms alot to describe things. Keep up the bad beats is currently my life's story.
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Deck Discussion] 4-Gush GroATog on: June 01, 2007, 10:37:06 am
Gush actually gets me to post about Vintage again. Wow.

I think the problem here is that all this really does well is beat Fish and maybe Ichorid, you still probably lose v Combo (Half your deck are like dead cards). So like, you're beating the decks that everyone else should be beating anyways. Seriously, if you want to make Tog good, you're going to need a complete overhaul, stuff like Fastbond and Regrowth are terrible.
11  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: StarCraft II on: May 25, 2007, 12:14:30 am
I'll be playing this whenever I can. I'm pretty sure Roxas will be as well. Of course, I'm not going to go into Zombie-mode like most WoWers did, but it'll be pretty close.

I hope they release the reqs for it before I end up buying my new computer though.
12  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Forum Upgrade! on: May 10, 2007, 11:56:23 am
We're looking at a couple options for those, but they might turn into giant tap symbols.

I don't think I can mess with the text on the buttons, since they're just an image, but I'll ask our graphics experts.

You can if you have the .psd (which usually comes with the graphics packs when installing skins).

On another note, the forum is getting better after every change, I really like the buttons (reply, modify, etc), except maybe for the MSN, AIM and stuff (I think that's still being worked on). Also, the Help, Home, etc buttons are nice. Keep up the good work.

There's no reason for not running scrying sheets and mouth of ronom here. Keldon Megaliths might even be a choice.

15  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Report] Third place at GPT Indianapolis on: April 19, 2007, 12:06:31 am
Nice Report. How many people showed up at the PTQ? I'm guessing that made the attendance a little worse than it could have been.

About the annoying guy, that happens alot. I had a similar experience at my GPT, where the entire venue was horrible, the players were retards (except for the ones I knew), and everyone was cocky for no reason. P.S: Ugo Rivard is a lucksack, and a bad one at that. Because of all that, my urge to play Legacy has diminished ALOT, though its still fun. The best answer, is playing other formats Wink.
16  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Akroma.dec on: April 05, 2007, 08:14:43 am
I too have been playing a Dredge deck in t2, with 12 discard/draw/tutor effects to work with, plus about 12+ dredge cards. My creature base is a little different though. I have no idea who you saw not running Akroma, but whatever. Running 4 is a mistake though. I run 2, along with 2 Hellkites, and an Angel of Despair for utility, I have more targets in the side too, like Blazing Archon and Firemane Angel.

The big problem with your deck is that you will never get cards in your grave. They can just kill your draw/discard mechanics and look at you attack with a ranger all day. Dredge is insane in this deck, whether you agree or not.

I take it you don't play Type 2 alot, so I'm gong to tell you to check around for the b/g version, which is insanely better.
17  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Changes on TheManaDrain.com on: April 04, 2007, 12:53:07 am
Will Moderators be changed? With less forums to moderate, I can see some people being demoted, or if you want to have more emphasis somewhere, some being promoted. Also, will the general moderation change at all? I don't really have a problem with it, but some might.

Keep up the good work, Steve, it's fucking great to see you back here. Oh, and J_Orlove too.

Burn top 8'd and I scrubbed out? WTF is this world coming to?

Legacy is a horrible format.

On another note, Yay for seeing Aluren get first. Which list was Paul using?
20  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Bug Report on: April 01, 2007, 12:45:33 am
Another thing that has come up, is that the PM system doesn't seem to work. I can't send messages (and they don't show up in my outbox either). Is anyone else having this problem?

Note: Jorlove, I did message you on aim, but you weren't around, etc. So here it is Razz

23  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Results] Monthly Legacy Tournament at Perracomics Top8 on: March 21, 2007, 03:42:59 am
Dragon Novato=Fledgling Dragon?

I don't understand how people can run such bad Goblins lists, no wonder Landstill is good there.

The "Tontuns" deck looks kind of weird. How is green a better splash than black, it looks like bad thresh, especially with the draw cards.
24  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Announcement]Legacy Cash Tournament Chicago,IL 3-18-07 on: March 20, 2007, 02:31:12 pm
I'm going to agree with ELD here, the only deck that might come close right now is TES.

I've never seen Root maze played in Goblins side before, kind of interested to see how that worked, or if it's just a guess. Usually, I see Chalice + Pillar.

25  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Why are Fish decks not winning tournaments? on: March 19, 2007, 07:42:55 pm
Lol, that's a pretty dumb assessment, and kind of personal targeted. It is Rod v Vial. Rod wins out because disruption > couple points of damage. whether Chalice is good or not in Fish is probably a better thing to ask, I don't think it is.
26  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Which way do you tap? on: March 15, 2007, 12:35:16 am
I tap it twice, etc.

In all seriousness, I tap it right-handed (I learnt it that way, thought maybe there was a reason for it being that way, etc, so I stuck to it.

I know someone at TML (I think someone from the source, I don't know his username, he was a great guy, played High Tide) had his islands with bottom faced towards the opponent, I'm not sure why.
27  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: TML OPEN 2 --- 2 day event --- March 3,4 --- Stratford, CT. on: March 06, 2007, 01:36:26 am
Freakish: What were you playing? I didn't see any of Elias' matches day one, as I was playing too, and not losing horribly (kind of).

About the play mistake with the vial, that was kind of odd, I think he decided to cast something, instead of vialing it into play, and thus having to wait a turn to cast E.Plague, which was then too late. Correct me if I'm wrong.

There was also a pretty tricky play game 1, where Jeff had Lackey in hand, and a vial at one, and Matt casted Therapy, which Jeff did not respond to, Matt then named Lackey, and then sacked a rootwalla to Therapy.

Also, the Duress play was pretty big. I didn't really like Bryant's etiquette during the match, as I personally found him to be a little too obnoxious. I think he 0-2 dropped on day 2, as did Kyle iirc.

FoF is huge in Tog, if you play right. Like, yea you can use it to bait counters, that's great, it IS a must-counter spell the majority of the time. The damnation v Deed argument is pretty null, both are great. I really want to know how the Lftl engine worked out in Tog, as I've never ever been a fan of it, but I guess it can work.

There was alot of Affinity (Me being one of them), and some had really weird builds, like Affinity sans Vial (Still a huge mistake if you ask me).
28  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: TML OPEN 2 --- 2 day event --- March 3,4 --- Stratford, CT. on: March 05, 2007, 08:08:17 pm
What's a "japanese tog" deck?

A list that the Japanese made? Elias can share it or whatever. The day 1 tog list is pretty weird. 2 Fof, 3 Brainstorm, big lols.
29  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: TML OPEN 2 --- 2 day event --- March 3,4 --- Stratford, CT. on: March 05, 2007, 03:12:11 pm
I scrubbed hard on day 2. I went 1-2 drop, and then lost to Elves in the Side Event. I need to stop playing Affinity I guess.

Elias got 16th with some Japanese Tog list on Day 2. Jeff lost to Boros (not the greatest Boros player ever) in top 2 or top 4 (I can't remember).

It was still an awesome event, probably not worth travelling like 7hrs (and getting a speeding ticket coming back home), but it was fun. Props to Ray for awesome prize support. And to Elias and Jeff and everyone else being awesome.

Oh, and unban Travis.
