Forum Upgrade!

Maybe a different color scheme? Everything seems too similar when the color scheme is light blue and lighter than light blue. Or is it just me?

None of the Safari Fixes are working for me, and i still see the water drops everywhere.

I only use safari on my work computer so its not a big deal, I may just download Firefox later today.

EDIT:

Just installed Firefox, seems to work fine, but the giant triangle and Mana symbols are still on the indexes, and they look really big ugly and awkward.  Even if they were just smaller by 50% they would look ok.

Did you try refreshing your cache? It sounds like you're still seeing the old version of the site.

Yeah, I just installed firefox so it had no cache, then i just tried clearing my cache again and i still see giant blue mana symbols on the main page index.

Ha! Sorry about that, i guess i was confused about which ones were still there I thought they were all supposed to be removed, i misunderstood . I guess everything is working fine for me than, thanks.

I still do not like the "Giant Mana Symbols of Doom^tm" I think they are tacky and awkward an generally poor design, but thats just my two cents on the aesthetics. Otherwise love the new forum.

Eh, personally I'm fine with the Giant Mana Symbols of Doom^tm. I'd like to agree with everyone about the new sticky icons though. Otherwise great work on the site.

At the bottom where it shows which symbols indicate what, it says that a green Play symbol (not the blue mana symbol) means new posts.

Hmm two things.

On many options (such as reply, quote, etc..) it appears it is in size 4 font or something. This may just be a load error on my computer though.

Also, when editing polls, i cannot set it so people can change their votes.

I believe that this can be changed by going to "View -> Text Size" where you can pick your font size from there.

I don't know if this is a glitch, or the way it is supposed to work...

I am using Firefox on a Mac.  When I click on "unread posts" it takes me to a list of unread posts, but not all of them are there.  For example, there is a blue mana symbol on the main page that tells me there is a new post in the "rector flash" thread, but that does not appear under "unread posts". Right now all it says is that "miracle grow" is the only new thread. 

If i click on it, back out, and then reclick "unread posts, I get: "No unread topics found since your last visit. Click here to try all unread topics".  I then click on the "click here" and suddenly I get a list of a whole bunch of new topics.

I don't know what gives.

Also, when I click "preview" when creating a new post, the browser automatically scrolls down to the text input on the preview page, requiring me to scroll back up to see the preview.

Cheers on an overall good improvement though,

There's a difference between "unread posts since your last visit" and "all unread posts". The default is to show the former, but there's a small link you can click on to see everything.

I enabled the "stuff as buttons instead of text" feature (applies to "reply" and a few others). Thoughts?

The buttons are awesome Jacob. If possible, maybe the text on them should be a little darker? (i.e. the "reply" or "quote" text). Otherwise, perfect.

The discongruency between the legend at the bottom of the main page indicating new posts (a green Play button) and the actual new post indicator (the blue mana symbol) still exists.

What would happen if you turned the "no new posts" indicator (now it is just the white Play button) into a white mana symbol? I think that would be pretty neat.

We're looking at a couple options for those, but they might turn into giant tap symbols.

I don't think I can mess with the text on the buttons, since they're just an image, but I'll ask our graphics experts.

You can if you have the .psd (which usually comes with the graphics packs when installing skins).

On another note, the forum is getting better after every change, I really like the buttons (reply, modify, etc), except maybe for the MSN, AIM and stuff (I think that's still being worked on). Also, the Help, Home, etc buttons are nice. Keep up the good work.

When I want to mark forums read, I have to logout, then log back in, then click mark forums read.  Otherwise, I get an error.
