2) Altering an existing card: PREFERRED! The second method is to use a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that you want to test and remove any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics. Methods for doing this can be found on Youtube.com.
3) Printed Slips: the third is to print out all 75 cards, and slip the cuts sheets of paper into each sleeve. If you do this, every card must be printed similarly and have a basic land backing.

Team Serious is hosting a guaranteed-prize playtest Vintage event on Saturday, March 26. Comic Town will be providing the great space, amenities, and fun they always do. Plus, post tournament meals at great places like the Pint Room (with 90+ beers on tap) or Son of Thurman's!

Team Serious has been on a roll recently with three events in four weeks, including the split Legacy/Vintage tournament at Comic Town and the Matt Hazard Birthday Bash Invitational. Tournament saturation may be part of the reason for the relatively low turnout for this event, but still 11 players showed up to throw down some hardcore Vintage, 1000% Serious.

With 11 players, there was a bye every round and, as a result a lot of 6-point players at the end of round 3. I'm going to post all five decks that got 9 points (because I got fifth, heh). The top four played out as follows:

This event is this weekend!

We've got a car going up from Columbus and I know some of the Cleveland group are going too. Who else?!

We threw this together in two weeks. On Jan 30 we had a Team Serious Open that Matt Hazard couldn't attend because of work. While I was at that tournament his wife texted me to see if we could put together an impromptu, surprise, makeup event at their house. I said that would probably be possible but that we would probably lose some attendance to the short notice and it being Valentine's Day weekend. All I needed was an idea of how many people I could invite based on how much room they had. We decided on 20, so I broadcast it to everyone but Hazard on our team boards and through some individual messages on email, text and Twitter.

That was pretty much it. My message was basically, "Hey, we're having a tournament for Matt Hazard. It's going to be Feb 13 at noon, BYOB, no entry, prize donations welcome. Let me know if you can attend."

Hazard's wife let him in on the secret for planning and organization purposes, and they ended up doing most of the food coordination. She provided chips and several fancy crockpot dips, which were great. And we ordered pizza for lunch and Thurman's carryout for dinner. They were also responsible for playing Skyfall, Predator, and The Running Man in the background during the event.

The streaming was just because I have the rig and they had an extra office where we could set it up. All in all everything worked out great. Players were super, super generous with prizes, obviously. People had a great time. We played some fun MTG and ate delicious food and drank delicious drank. We could probably have done more with the goodwill behind the event, and it would have been neat to do a donation to the Hazard's favorite charity, but that's okay.

On short notice and Valentine's Day weekend, we had 16 Team Serious regulars come out to celebrate Matt Hazard and his birthday with a Vintage tournament with playtest cards allowed. There was food and drink all day long, and I think everyone had a great time, most importantly Matt. With no entry fee and donated prizes, we managed to put up an estimated $1200 prize pool including a box of Modern Masters, an Italian Drain, a Taiga, and 28 Simian Spirit Guides. Prizes were distributed by "drafting" piles after things were completely decided, 1-16 then 1-8 again, so everyone got something!

I hadn't written anything for a long time, but I did want to share some details from the always entertaining Team Serious Invitational and let people know how we've set up some of our streaming equipment. Streaming has been a lot of fun for us, and it makes Vintage more visible, which is awesome.

I fixed my list. The missing card was Black Lotus (only mildly important). The list wins with infinite mana into Tasigur to recur Ancestral, Deep Analysis, or Time Walk. I got my version from JR Goldberg and Jimmy McCarthy, who played something similar at Champs.

I agree it was a pretty savvy choice for this event where only half the rounds were Vintage and there were no Dredge decks and one Oath.

We had a great turnout of 23 people for a secret, underground, split-format, playtest Eternal MTG event on 30 January, held at Comic Town in Columbus, Ohio. This event was entirely player-run and paid cash to the winners. The format was three rounds of Legacy followed by three rounds of Vintage followed by a top-eight playoff in Legacy. (Next split format event will be Vintage/Legacy/Vintage.)

To be clear, the tournament was canceled (for now) as a decision by the store after inquiring about the policies with Wizards. Wizards did not go to the store first or threaten anything. They simply reiterated their policy when asked. The store halted the event on their own and was not directly asked.

I played 1x Flash of Insight semi-recently in Tidespout Tyrant Oath. It's useful there for many of the reasons you state and because any flashback spells you Oath are like cards drawn to play with Tidespout in play. Tidespout is (probably) completely outclassed by Griselbrand, but it's a different direction to take the deck. I especially liked playing it when Dig Through Time was unrestricted, since Dig could help find the second Mox to go off and because playing Digs with infinite mana was pretty fun. The list below is from before Dig's printing.

I haven't played Flash of Insight in a non-Tidespout Oath deck, but it's a great card after Oath (like a second DT) and isn't completely dead before.

Team Serious in Columbus is hosting another great event on 30 January, featuring a Legacy/Vintage split event on Saturday. This will be held during the Standard portion of the SCG Open in Columbus, so bring your Legacy playing friends!

Six rounds of Swiss then cut to top 8:
- 3 Rounds of Legacy
- 3 Rounds of Vintage
- Top 8 will be Legacy

Decklists will be collected for both formats. The Legacy deck you register for Swiss will also be your deck for the final rounds.

Yeah, that line was poorly phrased to the point of being horribly inaccurate. Even "For a long time" is bad, since 5C Stax played so many colored restricted cards before Mud was the Workshop deck of choice.
