1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Free Article] A Date Which Will Live in Infamy - June 1 Vintage Restriction on: June 06, 2008, 03:13:02 am

Darwin theory is also widely applied to others subjects, but we should keep in mind that this theory actually applies only to species' evolution.

Despite of that, the use of Smith's or Darwin's theories applied to Vintage doesn't seem very relevant to me. The framework of these two theories is different from a simple game. The economic world, and the biological system of life are specific complex systems, and their theories should be take into consideration in other subjects with a lot of caution. You maybe should have used elements of Game Theory (Nash equilibrium for instance) to analyse the consequences of restrictions on Vintage in a more neutral way.

But I congratulate you for the intellectual exercise.

I think it's a bit narrow minded to say it is a game only use game theory. The development of new decks with a large cardpool as vintage feels a lot like evolution to me. Ofcourse the biological and the economical world are a lot more complex. But same principles work for magic. The strongest cards and synergies will eventualy be discovered.

It was a nice article to reed.
But you're saying that affinity got banned out of emotion not because it was dominating the field. Affinity was absolutly dominating Standard at that time.

how little gy hate. It seems like very poor decks to me. Ichorid would have run over this. Dark ritual decks would have easily won a lot of games i guess..

but only 3 leylines in T8 (or am i counting wrong)

Game 3: He leads with an Ancestral. I play a Sphere of Resistance which he counters, removing Tinker. He draws and shows me his hand of Double Ritual, Lotus, Will I believe and Bargain. I scoop up my cards and go home.

Yup, it was Bargain, but he also had Necro.

Anyway, congrats!

jep that was pretty broken hand DP had... but it is what his deck does

Round 5: Frank Van Rijn - TPS

I've seen him getting lucky draws in the previous rounds, so I know what to expect.

I don't get a very good draw, play Welder turn 1. He gets out Bagain and wins.
Game 2, I duress him and pull Gifts. 2 turns later, he rips Ancestral. He then tries to Will, but I Crypt his graveyard. He is playing very slowly so I call the judge (since he is 1-0). He then Recoup his Will (I just realise now while typing the report that he cheated: the Will resolved and shouldn't have been in his graveyard), cast Will, I drain it, he REBs, I force the Will, he forces back and wins.

I played this guy too. I was dumbfounded by all his lucky topdecks. Later on he mysticals, and puts the card in his hand and stuff like that. He also miscounted his storm once, and we had to check everything again with prove that he didn't kill me. There was also something with his sleeves, but I don't know if you can remember that? It was a sketchy player to say the least. It was strange playing him as he seemed hyperkinetic, but was constantly slow playing.

I was very suspicious, but I couldn't tell whether it was intentional or not. He miscounted his live total when drawing with Bargain (drew one more that what he paid for), but he didn't complain when I fixed it straight.

I'm sorry i played very sloppy, i admit that i made lots of mistake's not only play errors but also stupid things like not following the strickt rules. I could now sum up a couple excuses for that but that is also bit lame.
But I would like to make clear that I never intended to cheat, apologies if my way of playing annoyed people.

No problem. It's always easy to think people cheat when stuff like this happens. But as Carl said: if it's brought to your attention, you correct it without a fuss. I don't think any of it was intentional, you where probably a little nervous and tired like most of us Wink . I did some stupid things too in our match, like shuffling my burning wish back in my deck (which was RFG) when you timetwister-ed. I only noticed this when I didn't see it anymore, and I was close to dead already.
yeah Razz after game one i couldnt stop me hands shaking  I haven't played this kind of storm deck much so i was afraid to make stupid mistakes and i was nervous

I really think this card shouldn't have been printed.
It makes LED better then lotus, it makes land grant and saying oops i find no land good:S
It makes mox diamond and chrome mox good...

I could be mistaking but i think if some ppl are willing to spend some serious time to the card they can easely get it restricted (asin build a deck that would call for the restriction of the card)

SuiBlack makes nr. 4? I don't know whether I should laugh or cry... but congratulations to that guy!

Don't know if suiblack is the right name for the deck Razz More something like abyssalnoctori thought up morning before the game. Bas saw at around 1 o clock a abyssal noctorus in a binder and he liked it and grabbed some kewl black cards. And after some sleep he made 60 cards of it. And on the tournament he suddenly starts winning. Was very broken.

I still didn't like arthur not splitting Razz but Arthur and Daniel congratz. Second final in couple weeks.
I didn't expect meself to end up this high... i still suck at necro Confused . To bad i only ended up with 7 boosters, while 1 and 2 got 350 euro's or so, but hey that's life
