1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Sideboarding slaver on: April 16, 2006, 06:52:50 pm
Recently ive picked this deck up and i find it to almost never lose me games. However my problem is that I do not know how to board properly after game 1.

I've been testing with Jeff Anand's decklist online and offline and i find it extremely difficult to sideboard. http://sales.starcitygames.com/deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=16509

I'll probably change the list if i go to any tournaments in my area but this would liekly be what i would keep it close to. My question is how should I be sideboarding against various matches as I almost alwasy seem to regret how I board.

You've been linked to the rules before. Banned.

Oops there the two cards i wanted to add vampiric and demonic tutor. I'm just worried about wretch being too costly. BB is a lot why couldn't he have been 1b! OK changed with camp Adan demonic tutor.

what do you think about pyrostatic pilllar main?(2-3)

I''ll post somehtign final once i get more comments but wretch will rpolly be goign in welders out. Heritics and blood moons may go out for a swamp or 2 and 3 pillars, as there is a heck of alot of combo at my store.

I want to create this deck because I have a love for dark confident and red and would like a viable deck where they can be played together Very Happy. Here the list i've been working on so far but its a little weird.

Creatures-17
4 Dark Confidant
4 Grim Lavamancers
3 Gorilla Shamans
4 Goblin welders
2 Viashino heretic

Sorceries and instants-17
4 Duress
2 Cabal therapies
2 Dark Blast
3 Shatering sprees
2 REBs
2 Pyro blast
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Demonic Tutor

Enchantments and artifacts -5
2 Blood Moons
3 null rods

MANA - 21
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Lotus
4 Bloodstained mires
4 Badlands
3 Mountains
2 Swamp
4 Wastelands
1 Strip mine

First about the deck i would like some imput as to the choices.
Should Mox Monkey be goblin vandals?
Should Goblin welder even be in this deck?
Should Grim labamancer be mogg fanatics?
Is it worth it to try to fit in withered wretch?

THe following is an analysis of the decks in my meta.

Matches
Gifts- Matchup ok
Maindeck REBS and duress probably go a long way as well as null rods/ blood moons. Maybe i should consider tormods crypt altough it is not functional with my null rods :S(anyone got better graveyard removal that isnt double black). Heritic is and rebs is my only answers to tinker collosus. Sad In the board may include more REB. (maybe some diabolic edict?)

Stax - Matchup good
I have a ton of artifact removal but its all slow discounting the shatering sprees. Also Mox Moneky only deals with small artifacts in this match up is it worth a few vandels to deal with bigger artifacts. I also have 6 answers to welder but one of them is slow(4 Lavamancers) would i benifit from fanatics instead? Blood Moon helps vs crucible. Need shatering sprees in the board so i dont lose to chalice for 1.

Slaver- Matchup good
I am not at too much risk with 7/10 but also i can deal with alot of their stuff in the form of mox monkey-darkblast-lavamancers + fast beaters. I fear trike so i need to resolve a null rod early.(also works good vs the majority of this deck hehe). In the board may include more REB.

IT- Matchup ok
Duress helps and so does REBs and null rods. But is it all too little probably too late? pyrostatic pillars in the board should help alot. Also so should the additional REBs as i dont imagine they would board into confidant. Need to find a way to deal with graveyard recursion!

Angel Oath- Matchup bad
need to stop them from resolving the oath, which is imposible unless i get some lucky duresses. In the board for a deck that is R/B there is not many options anyone got some ideas?

Fish - Matchup ok to bad
Fish isnt very vulnerable to my artifact hate think ill have alot of trouble. REB/pyros to be mvp but it may be too little.

You may want to do a search for a decklist named fiends which is alot like this build. It plays no tinker collosus but it does play dark confident and a horde of low drops. If i can find it ill edit this post to link you there :S. Fiends actually splashes white for STP and some play kataki aswell.

This decklist could probably benefit from duplicants if you find your main problem is DSC.
Also i think you'll find choke is too specific and performs almost the same job as in the eye of chaos and sphere of Resistance.
Tinker + duplicant is good (possibly add a 7/10?) but tinker might be difficult to use in this deck because of workshops but it may be worth testing. Still you have other tutors that usually search for artifacts so you may aswell have it come into play directly. Also it is another powerfull tutor effect that gets around a chalice that blocks the other tutor effects.
Another thing about this list is that it you never want more then one crucible and since you are already testing tinker in it and the deck has a lot of search it may be worth it to cut them down to 3.

Also you may want to consider a single Pithing needles instead of null rod as this deck would appear to roll over to welders.

edited for readability.

Id like to hear more on

Trike vs Duplicant
7/10 vs DSC

I play in a metagame with alot of rogue and an imerging trend towards combo, but i dotn wanna flat out lose to the few workshop players.
7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Jester's Cap in Ubastax I.E., the card that got me two T8s at Richmond. on: March 29, 2006, 10:57:58 pm
mindslaver is not a valid addition to this deck. Its activation cost is too much and its roll is basically the same as the jester cap. Why play slower jester caps.
Welcome to TMD! Forum rules are here: http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=18027.0
You'll want to pay particular attention to rules one and four. Verbal warning.

I am quite sure that it was an accident that it was stickied as if they were looking for a good one they would of had found one long ago.

I am unsure why john tough he would lose hes has about 30/70 first game but after board it shifts to like 80/20 :S.
