Thank you for the math update, next time I attack my opponent for three, I will inform him he took a very high value of three thus should take four. Ill see how that works out for me and let you know.

Just so you understand, I could have drained your Goyf if I deemed it a threat. An attack from it would have brought me to two not one, as I was on seven life with a 4/5 Goyf and a Hierarch (Yes I know math is hard at times, but seven minus five is two). Needless to say if we had 15 more seconds in the round you would have lost.

I like how you mention the C&J crew when the two people you are bad mouthing played at the store LONG (years) before you ever started showing up. If you think this is incorrect feel free to talk to Jeff or even Nate about it. Thanks champ!

so weak.  i beat 1st and second in the 3rd and 4th rounds

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure we went to time which resulted in a draw. And at the end of my 4th turn you were at two life looking down the barrel of an Inkwell with no board presence.
Overall the tournament went rather smoothly and I had alot of fun playing after taking a leave of absence from the game. Thanks to all who played and here is to hoping these events can slowly start drawing more and more people.

although I wish you would have actually had to play a top 8 match to get it...having stan and luis scoop to you since you were going to split it was the easy way out, you probably could have beaten them anyways.

Just for the record, I did not ask a single player to scoop to me all day. I never arranged a prize split of any sort prior to the top eight. All I will say about it, is when someone decides to help me out I will help back just like what happened after I won.

Quote
the third guy was nate for scooping to luis after being pressured to do so...

I think that comment was a little uncalled for. Nate is a big boy and made his own decisions, no one forced his hand to sign the results slip, and he did receive something for his act.

And now for my tournament report.

Finals vs standard oath.

Game 1: I resolve smokestack, at end of game I have 20 permanents he has zero.

Game 2: I resolve smokestack, eat away his ground seal freeing my trapped welder, at end of game I have 20 permanents he has zero.

All my games basically went this way, with the acception of this. Vs David Ochoa during turn four of extra turns, he masterfully casts burning wish fetching the TIME WALK that he sideboarded out, allowing him to beat me raw with his DSC, in game three.

as far as the reset with stax, your last three permanents were trinisphere, a basic island (that i let you drop when you asked if you could make your land drop even after you passed

A basic land? That would be pretty hard once again since I dont run any. You clearly have the facts messed up.

Game 1 is probably the best game of the tourney for me with me getting him down to 5 and him reseting with stax, and me ripping mask and 3 phyrexians after the reset before he can do anything. I made a hell of a call and tinkered for a COW (with wasteland in my yard already) simply to put him at the point where he would be reset by the stax as well as myself. He was able to duplicant 1 of the two dreadnaughts I played figuring it would be a trade and his juggernaught would be able to go the distance, but I proceed to rip my third phyrexian off the top for a win.

Just so you know, you didn't tinker for CoW, it was the last card in your hand after I cast Balance. I did not reset myself with Stax, I was left with three perms: Trinisphere, Workshop, and a random Mox. Also I did not think my Juggernaut would go all the way, seeing as I was not playing with them (; . All in all a very good game sir, hope to see you and your group come down our way in the future.

Actually the last gens tounry was not won by 4CC, a split was offered and accepted. Just thought I would point that out sir.

Off my original post I left out the 1  four color Tog and TWO slapjack decks present (they are breeding).

All I can say concerning the other MonoU in the top eight is that his name is Shawn, he ran Annuls, and that he was crushed in the quarterfinals after resolvng Energy Flux vs Stax. Wish I could tell you more Smmenen.

"I fail to see how you can beat the uber powerful C&J's build of Salvagers"

First we had ABM, then TheLegendOfMagic, and now "SlapJack" plagueing our poor stores name. Just for the record; that is LotusHead's build, not C&J's as a whole. Baby Jesus and I beg you to seperate the two beings..

You are lucky your zombie opponent recieved a game loss, I hear that matchup is 40/60 at the best. I mean how do you expect to deal with a second turn Black Knight followed by a THIRD turn Black Knight?

15  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / C&J's Tournament Report 7/22 , GAT IS REBORN!!! on: July 24, 2004, 05:15:38 am
You cannot be serious.. After roughly 18 MONTHS of playing at C&J's, you have yet to win a real tournament sir. You call yourself the LegendOfMagic Brian, only thing I see you as, is the legend of run on sentences and lack of proper punctuation skills. You very often make very rash card choices, and random plays.

Get off the high horse, it does not do you justice.  If you truly that great sir, why are you rated at barely over 1800. This is slowly turning a I'm better than you thread and I am starting to see flames igniting. So lets drop the crap talk and focus on the decks, k?

16  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / C&J's Tournament Report 7/22 , GAT IS REBORN!!! on: July 23, 2004, 05:49:06 pm
Brian.. I ask you, please dont state fallacies knowing they are just that. I don't mean to flame, but you stating certain things seems to be bringing down our stores reputation. Just think before you post.. You will always be a legend at least in your own mind.

Perhaps soon, our pool of fully powered players will increase. Raz will make his return, Web, Myself, Fishhead, Dennis, Zhalfirin, and possibly one last showing of the infamous Saucemaster before he moves away.

But now on to comments concerning your deck. How did the misdirections fare for you? I noticed you sideboarded them out in 50% of your matches. Are the worth the maindeck slots?

How did this deck fare vs any type of prison in your playtesting? Is seems chalice and other 'lock' parts would be horrid to this deck. Did you ever want an Oxidize over Naturize #2 in the board?

Awaiting your reply, this is Cornbread signing off.
17  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / C&J's Tournament Report for 7/8/04 GAT +TNT Rules! on: July 12, 2004, 02:54:02 am
You were slow playing. Your twenty minute YawgWin turn consisted of playing a creature, drawing three cards, and time walking. Lot of thought that took eh? However in hindsight Kil0 should have conceded at that point and went on to game three and smash your face in.

It is all good though, do whatever it takes to try and win..
18  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Discussion] Should the number of proxies be increased? on: April 03, 2004, 06:21:41 am
Why thank you Mr Hernadez, the more style points I can get the better for all.

I personally think five proxies should be plenty for most players to stand a "fighting" chance vs. most decks. Any more than that you are taking the advantage the people with real power have and deserve to have; for taking the time/money to acquire a play set.

P.s. it was  Chinese Morphling (:
19  Eternal Formats / Creative / finally, no silly sindbad deck on: March 29, 2004, 06:56:51 am
I will Raz (;.

Good job Clint, glad to see you playing a non sinbad deck. How many discard engines do you run? It seems that relying primarily on Bazaar is a bad idea in my opinion. I didnt read you using any other engines besides afor mentioned land. Pm me your list and lets see if we can come up with something a bit better for your metagame.

C&J defin is not the same without you sir. I hope you get to come back during the summer as you mentioned before you left.

Cornbread, over and out.
20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Smmenen's Hulk Smash 2K4 on: January 23, 2004, 07:39:36 pm
Well I have to have something to back my claims, and my one post count certainly is not going to do that sir. It was not said in a truly cocky I am better than you attitude, just simply stated for reference. However if I came off that way I apoligize.

Insulted me? Heavens no! Insulted the deck I play? Yes.
21  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Smmenen's Hulk Smash 2K4 on: January 23, 2004, 07:09:14 pm
First off sir let me say I have always admired your articles and the decks your team helps to break. Two of the people I play with are infact members of your illustrious team, I consider them friends and highly value there opinions. With that being said let me move on to my second point. Were you in anyway under the influence of alcohol or other mind numbing agent when your wrote this? I just glanced at my calandar and it is not April First..

"Mana Crypt is, I am convinced, a permanent addition to this archetype as it is just so powerful and fits the casting cost scheme so well with Cunning Wish, Intuition, Yawg Will and the like."

I cannot deny the fact that Mana Crypt is indeed a very powerful card. However at the cost of one measly mana, would Sol Ring not be better? It is quite possible the one mana could make a HUGE inpact, but then again so could a random Lightning Bolt to the dome per turn.

"Duresses will make the mirror match FAR more bearable where you get to play all your AKs, but you clear the way for thiers."

What about your opponents Duresses and Ak's? You cannot simple state I run four Duress, thus I am going to force through anything I wish. You do know the person you are playing against is also running Duress. About that Ak statement, are you willing to risk casting a few Ak's KNOWING that the person sitting across from you run them as well. I for one, am not willing to make decision. Did I mention your opponents Duresses?

Twenty-Two mana sources. Yes that is 22, the number before twenty-three. In my testing 23 is the BARE minimum you want to run, especially when the field is full of 5 waste affect control decks, or main deck Blood Moon. Did I mention one of the lands is not a strip mine?

Main deck Gush and a single Deep.Anal seem very poor choices. You say you want to go for the throat but run control winning cards. And if your goal is to swing into the red zone and smash into your opponents groinal region, why not run four togs? However I have only played Tog for the past 16 months and earned a rating on 1920 off it according to the DCI.

I really love Xantid Swarm in the board, all combo decks need to run this card.. Didnt mean to sound sarcastic, it is really good. Three purge might be a bit much, but I am assured you will crush any rector/dragon deck you face.

Thank you for your time and please be easy on me when you reply..

This is Cornbread signing off.
