1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: (Article and updated Primer) How to play control slaver now. on: December 05, 2005, 03:11:14 pm
If those are the two decks you want to beat up on Bslaver is probably the way to go.
Do you want me to email you a list?

Would you please be so kind to share the list with everyone (possibly by posting it here in this thread)...
I think Vertigo isn't the only one interested in a list of Slaver to play in a field of Gifts / TPS.
To be honest, i myself am very interested in any approaches to make this deck as strong as possible and my meta (german meta, -> Iserlohn) should be very similar to Vertigo's with the addition of much Fish/Bird Sh*t/Landstill and Stax in any variants (non proxy environment!).

Thanks Ephraim for your fast reply, but i think i have to comment on the describtion "causual" a bit:

I posted my deck in the causual sub-forums and i described it as a "causual" deck because i don't plan to take it to a tournament but as i mentioned i really want to win as many games with it as possible. The plan is to have a nice deck to play between the Type 1 tournaments and the 100 cards Highlander games i play regularly.
I could also play some sort of Keeper / Germbus instead of a Stasis lock deck but the result will be the same: My opponents will lose to my Drains, Yawg Will, P9 more often than i will lose to their "fun" decks. At this point i should probably describe these "fun" decks a bit: They consist of one Kobold Clamp Combo Deck, one Reanimator, some (Ravager) Affinity, ... and many "rogue" Decks. All these decks are, in contrast to my decks, unpowered, but nevertheless are many of these decks really fast and strong although they are no Tier1 Vintage decks.
I want to compete with these decks but don't want to play my Type1 decks (Oath, Intuition Slaver, 4cC, ...).

Perhaps i should redefine my aim to build a deck which is fun to play but on the other hand as strong as possible.

Hi @ All!

My aim is to build a "fun" deck, which is going to "win some games with Stasis".
Despite the fact that this deck is meant to be a causual deck, i have the demand to win as many games as i can with it.
So without further (unnecessary) introduction, here is my most recent deck list:

Glacial Maze.dec

4x Force of Will
3x Arcane Denial
3x Daze

1x Vampiric Tutor
1x Enlightened Tutor
1x Crop Rotation
1x Demonic Tutor

4x Stasis
4x Root Maze
4x Howling Mine
2x Chronatog
1x Island Sanctuary
1x Black Vise

2x Chain of Vapor

1x Ancestral Recall
1x Time Walk

1x Black Lotus
1x Mox Sapphire
1x Mox Emerald
1x Mox Jet
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mox Ruby
1x Sol Ring

3x Forsaken City
2x Glacial Chasm

4x City of Brass
4x Tropical Island
2x Yavimaya Coast
2x Tundra
2x Underground Sea

The function of the deck should be obvious, but nevertheless, here are some short explanations:

I want to lock my opponent via Root Maze + Stasis as soon as possible and then begin to skip my turns with Chronatog's ability.
Before i start skipping my turns i try to lay a Glacial Chasm or Island Sanctuary to protect me from being attacked.
The kill is either Black Vise or decking my opponent.

My greatest problem is the (sucking) manabase! It is absolutely needed, that nearly every land provides blue mana to upkeep Stasis if i can't skip my turns.
The second requirement is that i need one green mana in the first 1-2 turns to lay down my Root Maze.
Root Maze is the reason, why i can't use some fetchlands which would probably smooth out my manabase.

Any suggestions / experience / whatever which could help me with my deck?

Ah and please don't blame me for my english, i am from germany and i tried to do my best... Wink

4  Eternal Formats / Creative / The ever-pressing question: What deck? on: February 15, 2004, 01:07:01 pm
I would suggest you to play Suicide-Blonde since you have the Jet and Pearl! Although Sui is not that good in an aggro-heavy meta this variant could perhaps be a nice choice...
Buy 4 Vindicates, 4 Swords to Plowshares, 4 Sinkholes, 4 Scrublands, 4 Hymn to Tourach, Demonic Tutor, YawgWin and some nice black Critters (Shade, Hyppie and Withered Wretch are nice!).
That's what i would play if i were in your situation, because i like Sui and the white splash is nice vs aggro decks!

You could even drop the Pearl to have more money for the other cards, because you dont need the Pearl in this deck that much.

BW-Dragon probably the best choice in an aggro-heavy meta (cause its combo) but (again my personal feeling) i dont like to dominate a (scrubby) aggro meta with a semi-powered COMBO-deck.

Elite Force: where is demonic consultation???

If you are playing 3 voids & 3 pernicious, consultation must be the choice.

On lotus petal, under a Void is a dead card, but in the opening hands it brings great advantage, specially if you are not playing Mox JET.

Yes i would really love to run Consultation but therefor i do have to cut the Null Rods! Sad
Could any1 else please comment on the Rods in a controlish Meta with a lot of Iso Keeper player??

@HuntedWumpus: I only see one possibility to add the Library but therefor you have to cut your Mishra's Factories! If u do so you could add the 4th Wasteland, your Library and a 3rd card!
I tested the Factories for a really really long period of time and i think that they are simply inferior to your other critters and that you dont need that much creatures. Normally you disrupt as much as possible in the first few turns, then you try to drop one critter and then u only have to seal the game with Nether Void. If your Void is on the table and you can protect your creature you do not need any Factories!

I think Lotus Petal is probably the best choice for a but here.  The deck will run plenty well with the way you've got the manabase set up (although I would argue you don't need Llanowar Wastes, you're still ok).

Hmm... i tested this deck now for the last 4-6 month in almost any variant! In my opinon Lotus Petal is a quite nice replacement for the mox/lotus. It works like a mini ritual #5. Lotus Petal in your starting hand is really nice for 1st turn Shade / Hymn / Sinkhole / Null Rod / or even double Duress if necessary!  Very Happy
Later on (under Nether Void) drawing the Petal is quite as usefull (or in this case unusefull) as a Dark Ritual!

For the 2 Llanowar Wastes i have to say that i would not need them for my MD cards but in post SB games with more green cards (Choke / Naturalize) the Wastes are providing more consistency!

@blankpagez (concerning the Negators): I do have to agree with JACO that the Negators kinda suxx in the current meta! In the Keeper matchup u do not only have to fear Decrees but Fire/Ice, Workshop decks have their big and fast fatties and against aggro the Negators are as good as using P.Deed to blow up your own permanents! ;(

Hi Guys!

Here is my Pernicious Void decklist (which is quite similar to TracerBullet):

Disruption (20):
4x Duress
4x Hymn to Tourach
4x Sinkhole
3x Pernicious Deed
3x Nether Void
2x Null Rod

Creatures (10):
4x Nantuko Shade
3x Hypnotic Specter
3x Withered Wretch

Broken Utility (3):
1x Demonic Tutor
1x Yawgmoth's Will
1x Necropotence

Non-Land Mana (5):
4x Dark Ritual
1x Lotus Petal

Land (23):
10x Swamp
4x Bayou
2x Llanowar Waste
2x Pulluted Delta
4x Wasteland
1x Strip Mine

Sideboard (15):
3x Choke
3x Contagion
2x Naturalize
2x Planar Void
2x Chains of Mephistopheles
1x Pernicious Deed
1x Null Rod

The only differences are:
First of all i do not have any of the p9.  Rolling Eyes

Second thing is, that in my opinion i urgently need Null Rods in MD! I sometimes play @ Dülmen where u find a lot of Iso Keeper! Pernicious Deed isn't that good against iso scepter cause its a little bit too slow (3 mana cc and another 2 mana to activate and kill scepter) and secondly u hurt urself by blowing deed for 2 mana! But Null Rod isnt only good against the scepter in this matchup! It also helps against the extra mana acceleration from the jewelry.
Another great point where u need the Null Rods is when your oponent plays with Masticores! Masticore is a very bad guy vs your Nantukos and Hyppies! Yes u can remove his Squee out of the grave via Withered Wretch but this is not always the safest way. Perhaps he has enough mana to kill your Wretch when you are tapped out or something else.
For the MD Null Rods i cut the Demonic Consultation (i / we only run 10 creatures!! to risky!!) and the 4th deed.
What do u guys think on this? Are the Rods worth it?

Third thing is that i have 61 cards in my MD. This really suxx but i do not know what to cut! Could u guys please help me? Perhaps i should cut the Null Rods for the 4th Deed and then i am at 60 cards?!
