songs use almost the exact same chord changes, check
guitar parts are interchangable song to song, check

Is misdirectioning a thoughseize really even any good though? Duress and thoughsieze are pretty much solely used to clear out opponents disruption to resolve your own bombs. More likely than not misdirection is going to be a pretty solid candidate to get nabbed with thoughsieze in the first place. Unless you have a card they absolutely cannot under any circumstances let them take I'd be inclined to just take the one for one instead of the 2 for 2.

Uba stax has always been really low on win conditions. If they want to play it out and let you spend the vast majority of the match killing them then that works out really well for you, especially game 1. You spend 30+ minutes in game one and then all you have to do is wait for the match to go to time in game 2 and you win the match. Smart players scoop to locks becuase they don't want to draw the match or loose because they let you take your sweet time killing them. I remember when smennen top 8'ed gencon with Mono Blue he said in his tournement report that he always sideboarded out all his win conditions agianst 'shop decks if he won a really long game 1. Same kind of strategy here.

I'm so angry at the brewers right now. They had what, like an 8 game lead in july? Once the cubs made thier run they had plenty of chances to take them down agian, and they punt it in the last 2 weeks of the season. The bullpin seriously just imploded these last few weeks. They were swinging the bats just phenominally (Prince Fielder anyone?) performing really well defensively with good starting pitching (almost all the time) and they can't hold like a 5 run lead against anyone. Makes me very, very angry. Anybody else see Ned Yost get thrown out of 3 of 4 games during that St. Louis home stand? That was sweet.
5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Kowal Slaver on: September 27, 2007, 05:59:45 pm
yeah, slaver wins mad numbers of games. Especially with all the gushes and fastbonds running around it is really easy to kill someone off 1 well timed slaver activation. I've been running DSC main and don't really have any complaints. He is a very relavent threat against gush decks, which make up so much of the metagame right now maindecking the iron giant makes a lot of sense to me. Plats has tested pretty subpar for me, especially with DSC maideck now. Its just easier to throw down the 11/11 and only have to have like 2 counterspells to have him go the distance then to try and protect platz over all the turns that it takes for him to win the game. I think I'm going to have to move platz to the sb or cut her all together. As kowal has stated several times keeping the card quality as high as possible is really importent to winning matches, and by adding 1 bad card in the opening 7 to the maindeck I've noticed a fairly remarkable decrease in card quality. 4 bombs really is the right number (welder, slaver, dsc, future sight in my current version)

I've spent the the last several days testing and fiddling with your list, and I must say that I think it is very good. It seems to be excellent in the current metagame. One issue that has come up repeatedly for me in testing is my inability to reliably find Rector. Have you ever noticed anything like that? Merchant scroll means flash is very easy to get a hold of, but the lack of a dedicated draw engine and anything comparable to summoner's pact make getting a hold of rector a bit of a pain in my experience so far. The only idea I have to help with that is Eladamri's Call, which doesn't exactly seem promising. I'm also futzing around right now with playing 2-4 mana drains, which have been pretty amazing. With the full suite of 4x FoW 4x Drains 2x misdirection the deck absolutely steamrolls sliver flash so far in testing. I haven't played much of the GAT matchup yet, but I would think that mana drains would be very helpful in that matchup as well. Drains also make hardcasting rector quite easy, though in my experience the probablem really isn't casting rector so much as finding the bastard.
