Are you playing sanctioned? It's going to make a big difference. There's basically no way for you to play dredge in vintage without Bazaars.

Yeah. I plan on playing sanctioned. I will be proxying the Bazaars for now.

Is the Bloodghast engine a definite?

I want to convert my Legacy deck into a Vintage deck. Here's my list:

3 Golgari Thug
4 Golgari Grave-Troll
4 Ichorid
4 Narcomoeba
4 Putrid Imp
4 Stinkweed Imp
4 Tireless Tribe

4 Bridge from Below

3 Dread Return
4 Breakthrough
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Careful Study

2 Tarnished Citadel
4 Cephalid Coliseum
4 City of Brass
4 Gemstone Mine

3 Firestorm
4 Ancient Den
4 Chain of Vapor
4 Nature's Claim

What's the best way to convert this into a Vintage deck? I have access to all of the DR targets.

IMO, the presence of Fatestitcher for untapping and the general absence of Leyline means Emerald Charm and Chain of Vapor are dwarfed by the efficiency of artifact hate such as Oxidize+Crumble (not sorcery speed Chewers) and creature hate such as Darkblast+Contagion.

On another wing...

Initial reactions on Lord of Extinction?

DR'ing a 40/40 badass seems kinda threatening...especially with no strings attached like we find with the Grave Troll or multi-Sharuum options.

I would still play Chain of Vapor.  Being able to bounce everything is still great.

As far as Lord of Extinction goes, I wish he cost 1 more mana so you could use Dragon Breath with him.  If he had trample or something like that, I would still consider him.  But maybe.

Exactly. He's one keyword short of good, sadly.

@meadbert- what's your current list like? Since we are reaching our "tipping point," do you plan on making any changes or taking a break from Ichorid?

I've been out of vintage for a good while and I'm about to revamp my deck. I've got a couple questions:

1) Have any changes been made since the end of Lorwyn?

2) How do you guys feel about the deck that top 8 at World's?

I decided to go back to manaless for fun. Any ideas on how to run my sideboard against Ichorid with mana?

Just board in some Enchantment removal and additional lands. You can cut Fields, Chalices, Unmask and Darkblast.
Why would I cut Unmask?

8  Eternal Formats / Creative / What is the best deck for an unpowered, non-proxied tournament? on: April 27, 2008, 07:55:23 pm
After hearing about a tournament that didn't except P9 or any proxies, my first instinct was to play ichorid. However, graveyard-based strategies would seem to be the first to be hated out if there is no power. Playing normal aggro seemed a bit too stupid, but most forms of control wouldn't really do justice, either. Thoughts?

I'm planning on going to an un-powered, un-proxied tourney not too long from now. I'm definitely upping the Fields to 4 and getting rid of Chalice for Contagion or Sickening Shoal. Any other changes I need to make? (I have the BoB's, by the way)
I do not have much experience with such a meta, but your proposed changes sound good to me.  An extra Darkblast or two could help against Jailer if that might show up and is good at shooting Lackey if you run into goblins.  Also, the more dredgers the better if you expect a Wasteland heavy meta.

What if I were to use my Legacy build? What changes should I make to gear it towards Unpowered Vintage decks?

4x Ichorid
4x cabal therapy
4x breakthrough
4x golgari grave troll
3x deep analysis
4x lion's eye diamond
3x dread return
4x putrid imp
1x flame kin zealot
2x cephalid sage
4x bridge from bellow
4x stinkweed imp
4x narcomoeba
4x gemstone mine
4x city of brass
3x golgari thug
4x cephalid coliseum

side:
4x leyline of he void
2x ray of revelation
1x ancient grudge
4x chain of vapor
4x pithing needle

Soup, TMD? lol...

My name is Charles Scott-Spain. (PltnmNgl on all magic boards) I live in Raleigh, NC and plan on moving to Seattle, WA pretty soon. I've been lurking around for not too long and decided to join. I write articles and compete every once in a while, but I mainly just help noobs win their own little metagames. I have been focusing on Legacy at the moment, but I just got into Vintage. Believe it or not, (and I may sound like a pure noob for this) but it was the appeal of Manaless Ichorid that caught my eye.

Anyway, if you want to check out my blog, it's http://discipleofthealt.blogspot.com/
