Eternal Formats / Bazaar-Based Decks / Re: Dredge

Deathrite Shaman after a turn 1 Wasteland on my Bazaar is pretty brutal, making slow Dredging harder. But that's why I like Misstep and Unmask main deck.
It seems to me that the biggest problem here is getting hit by Wasteland on turn 1.

It would play dispatch 100% of the time if metal craft was actually as easy to obtain as people in this thread are stating. While I'd agree that Lotus Petal not needing metalcraft is a huge plus and arguably makes it a better card, don't forget the obvious (I'm sure you haven't, but I'll state it anyways). Dispatch requires 3 other artifact cards to function. Mox Opal only needs 2 other artifact cards to function. That aspect is non-negligible.

Advantages of Lotus Petal 2. Can have more than 1 in play at a time (is not Legendary) Ridiculous statements like the one quoted above do nothing to help your argument. All it does is hurt your arguments credibility. I'm not convinced that one is absolutely better as the situations where one is better than the other are realistic and applicable. Lotus Petal seems better for the early game (turn 1 and 2) while Opal seems better suited for the mid and late game.

This is the nature of eternal formats there is nothing wizards can really do about it other than extend the banned/restricted lists. What you are viewing as a consoladation of power is just the printing of an eternal bomb. Would you rather they never print another bomb ever again? No more cards of the power level of Jace, Lodestone, Bob, Griselbrand? I personally don't think this would be good thing at all.
They're damned if they do, damned if they don't.

With all the "Wizards doesn't care about vintage/eternal" type comments that get thrown around I would have thought that Lodestone Golem would have been praised, not vilified.
All this talk about restricting Golem smacks of blue control player bias that shows up every time a new card comes around that makes life slightly tougher for blue control decks.

Bridge From Below
This card was the tipping point in taking Dredge to a place where a magic deck could realistically win the game without any mana and without ever casting a spell. While it's not the ideal way to design or play Dredge, I enjoy the idea.
The card does absolutely nothing when hard cast. Nada. Worthless. I like that a very powerful card has this characteristic.
There are more answers to it then I care to count, but a counterspell isn't one of them and I love that. The fact that blue control decks had a hard time beating Dredge using their normal tactics and some folks even started calling for the restriction of Bridge From Below gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I have a rules question - does the card get revealed? IF not, then you can bluff them into giving you three cards, and thinning your deck by one. A definite pitch-tester, if so. It's always face up unless the card specifically says face down.

To add to that, what if you know your opponents wife is nine months pregnant? There's a very real possibility that his cell phone could ring and he'd have to forfeit the match and rush to the hospital. Is it still stalling if I'm out of win conditions, but I continue playing in hopes that his pregnant wife calls him? Would the same apply if he had a terminal parent or grandparent that hadn't been doing so well lately? What if it were just a terminal pet, like a dog or a cat? Am I stalling in any of those cases? Could the judge call the opponents wife to verify her pregnancy?

It's almost like I can feel this thread working to undo any attempt I've made to give Ichorid legitimacy as a serious contender in Vintage.
I believe the fact that this thread got moved to the Improvement section while threads about Hermit Blaster (seriously, Hermit Blaster???) remain in the Open section should tell you all you need to know.

I'm saddened that with the changes to zones, such as battlefield and exile, that cards like Platinum Angel remain untouched. To keep with the more immersive (and awesome) theme they got going, instead of reading like this:
Flying You can't lose the game and your opponents can't win the game.
It should be this:
Flying You can't lose the battle and your opponents can't win the battle.
Or:
Flying You can't lose the war and your opponents can't win the war.
