5  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia Spring Vintage (23players) Results! Lists! Pics! on: March 18, 2015, 07:46:42 pm
ah so i did remember correctly, the conversation began as I remembered it and was rerouted to properly separate the two... by me.
anyway, are you actually trying to present a counterpoint to my "more vintage is good" argument? That seems like an odd position for you to take. 23 people is a record turnout so the logical next step is clearly to just ignore the new players calling for more vintage.
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia Spring Vintage (23players) Results! Lists! Pics! on: March 18, 2015, 05:22:58 pm
So if I remember correctly the last conversation about vintage tournament numbers, the total number tournaments was conflated with old school magic. I would be quite happy with bimonthly vintage instead of trimonthly. The second to last was around xmas, which I missed because of xmas travel, and I missed the last because of work travel so I won't have a chance to play for 3/4 of the year on the current schedule. Given that 23 showed up (a record since restarting eudo vintage), perhaps it is time to open this conversation up again.
7  Eternal Formats / Western/Pacific U.S. / Re: Spring Vintage @ Eudomonia Berkeley (March 15, 2015) on: February 12, 2015, 01:58:58 pm
once again on a date I will be out of town. That is also the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. Not all vintagers may be hard college basketball fans like myself but that could affect turnout.
8  Eternal Formats / Western/Pacific U.S. / Re: Vintage @ Eudomonia in Berkeley, CA , September 14 on: September 17, 2014, 04:28:28 pm
To the point of "there are too many vintage and old school tournaments".
First, I would not clump vintage and old school together for this count. I know the few people who have replied likely lump them together, I am just pointing out that is the minority.
Which leaves us with 6 tournaments in 9 months I believe.
I think that is quite a good ratio as I would rather play vintage over any other formats. I actually think this is quite fantastic. Previously, when I lived in other regions of the country getting 4 vintage tournaments a year was incredibly unlikely unless you were cool with driving 3 states away. I think the problem is not vintage vs other formats just magic vs life in this situation. Keep on scheduling them, people will come if they can. If we get 20, great. If we get 9, great. If we don't have a tournament, I predict zero people will be playing vintage.
9  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia Vintage 8/3/14 Top 4 Decklists on: August 22, 2014, 05:10:13 pm
I really wanted the third cavern of souls but couldn't find it before the tournament. I have found it since so three caverns next, they are quite awesome in this deck.

As Ryan said, he made one tweak from your list and he then described it. He switched 1 jailer sideboard for 1 more ancient grudge.  Yes the main deck is the same.

17  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage for Cash 5 Vacaville Results (16 players) on: January 23, 2013, 01:38:17 pm
We played 5 rounds before determining the top4. Steve and Jeff IDed in round 4 going to 3-0-1 apiece and after that round Ryan and I were well ahead on tiebreakers and had played each other already,  Ryan had played Steve so that meant Steve vs me in Rd 5 and Jeff vs Ryan in Rd5. We of coursed IDed because that would lock us all in. So Steve and Jeff were 3-0-2 and Ryan and I finished at 3-1-1. Ryan lost to Steve and I lost to Ryan.  Steve, Jeff and I had to return to the bay and Ryan to Sacramento and as we didn't start until after 2 playing 2 more rounds as well as the big difference between the split and 3/4 pay out made ($72 vs $28) not splitting kind of illogical. So hopefully that gives a little more perspective on why we didn't play out the last two matches. Anyway, no one particularly cared about seeding so if Steve wants first than that is fine with me, he was first after round 5.  For me it is more like Steve and Jeff finished first and Ryan and I second.
18  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage for Cash 5 Vacaville Results (16 players) on: January 20, 2013, 11:03:59 am
yes brainstorm is in the list.
great tourney, I thought batterskull would be pretty decent but it was quite dominant all day. I bounced the skull more in this vintage tourney than my total combined experience with the card, it just jumps right out of the way of all those grudges and trygon triggers. My one loss came against ryan reynolds playing one of Stephan's lists. In game 3 I lead with thoughtseize seeing some stuff including one T1 mana source, a dark rit and yawgs bargain. I am on the play and have mana drain for T2 so I take bargain because it seems the worst if he can resolve something, he rips necro of the top and plays it via his rit. The only play that keeps him in the game, what a mise!

Hey guys, not sure if I will be able to make it this saturday. I probably won't have a clear idea until thursday but if I do go I'm happy to drive anyone who can meet me in Richmond or at one of the el cerrito bart stations.  Will post again once my situation becomes more clear.

22  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays: The Return of Burning Long! on: November 05, 2012, 08:38:06 pm
I'm pretty sure Steve used lotus in his storm turn making 14 goblins and going to one card and then vampiric tutored on the next upkeep. So I'm not sure how using FoW on the spell instead of misstep is worse unless his draw is time walk as he was hellbent until the draw step. Maybe I'm wrong though.

This is my recollection of game 3

Im on the play
I play t1 remora and mox, sol ring
go to 19 life off a fetch
His T1, he plays 7 spells, I draw 7 cards
I think he expected me to FoW spell 6 ,oath, but i had my one abrupt decay in hand mox emerald and mox jet
he makes 14 goblins and has 1 card in hand, pass
I start the turn with 9 cards going to 10
I play more artifact mana including mana crypt, Jace, Jacestorm into time vault blue card and tinker. I play vault and pass with FoW, blue card, and misstep, tinker D tutor
Steve casts vampiric in his upkeep, I assume to get timewalk, i misstep, 19-->17
you attack 17-->3 pass
I die to mana crypt roll.
23  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays: The Return of Burning Long! on: November 05, 2012, 05:56:29 pm
I don't think a stomping is an accurate description of our games Smmenen.  If I had forced your vampiric tutor rather than misstep I would have vault key locked you game 3 at 1 life.  Alas, I can't do math and had mentally checked out.  Stomp is a bit harsh though don't you think.
24  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage for Cash 4 (11 players) Lists Pics Results Vids! on: November 05, 2012, 05:50:59 pm
oh yeah FYI Ocho's deck looks a lot like Jaime Canos deck from Ovino. If you read spanish you can find an extensive description of the deck linked from this site
25  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage for Cash 4 (11 players) Lists Pics Results Vids! on: November 05, 2012, 03:11:27 pm
another fun tourney although today the force (and a bit of math skills) were lacking for me.
I played a remora gush list similar to R Gonzalez's September LCV event except I packed main deck thoughsieze.
Rd1 I lost to Web 1-2
G1 he casts ancestral twice and lands jace
G2 I have tinker--> BSC with FoW backup
G3 he casts ancestral twice and lands Jace

Rd2 I smash the bye

Rd3 I get smashed by shops 0-2
At this point I have drawn BSC in three of my five games, sometimes the force (luck) isn't with you (that or I just can't play this game which is a possiblity)

Rd4 I play against Menendian and lose in 3
Game1 I get out T1 remora and draw a ton of cards and stop him from doing anything
Game 2 he mulls to 5 but has a T1 oath with orchard draw I kept 6 including drain and ancestral but can't find an answer to oath
Game 3 he T1's 14 goblins and I lose because I pay 2 life for a mental misstep on his vampiric (he was going for time walk I assume) instead of FoW and then lose from 3 life to my mana crypt roll with time vault on board and tinker in hand to replace crypt with key... oh well I've never been good at math... or thinking in certain positions.

Regardless, I'll be back for more next time.

I'm coming from the Albany area, just north of Berkeley. Grabbing people at the bart station would be the most ideal. I currently have 1 seat unless I get a cancel.

Hey guys, I am expecting to attend this one too.  I'm hoping that Devine will make it too. Smmenen, I've got your ride which means I could have 1 open seat for the drive to vacaville from the east bay.

yeah man that timetwister screw up was pretty bad.  I didn't even for a second consider the ramifications of me shuffling because I had just drawn my one maindeck dredge hate. The leyline had absolutely no effect until then and I just completely missed it. I feel the responsibility for it and my karma evened out after I mulled to 3 game 2.  At least we had an awesome game 3!
