Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: An Annoying Small Creature Deck

i notice that most of your stuff is conditionally good against certain decks...most decks either go all in with the win condition or stall into it it tends to reason that a person can just play around your deck which doesn't make this optimal most people who play vintage competitively only really have a few genres of decks to work in and these genres are already well established so most criticism will be "why don't you just play this version" or "there are better cards you could play in a fish style deck" and so on but if you really wan to play competitively research the vintage encyclopedia these fine gentlemen have assembled here http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=37514.0 and look at the winning trends of decks on the tournament report forum to see what the top dogs are using for tech also remember that not everyone owns/plays with power so the gorilla thing is not a 100% but would be a hilarious side board card when you know what your opponent is playing welcome and best of luck -tim

another thing you could get involved with is 4x Ill-Gotten Gains 4x Dream Salvage
I really like dream salvage - first turn ritual - hymn - salvage or something along the lines looks really nice. What would you take out to include? And what would you add for some more threats on the table? as mentioned before another color helps increase the flexibility of a deck no color can answer everything easily in its own color green gets anti artifact and stuff like goyfs red gets red elemental blast/pyroblast and moon effects or even burn blue for counters and draw white gets ya well umm random jazz in keeping with your original deck mono style i would take out 2 extirpates if not 3 1 sol ring 1 tendrils 1 glacier you have 1 free space maybe some swamps (i dont know how ur deck plays out land but 14 seems high) sry im not more help i made the mistake of being up late and surfing the web

thoughtseize is unnecessary in any oath deck because you want your opponents to play creatures so run duress and keep your life that is why you play negates as your secondary counterspell

at last weeks fnm at myriad a couple of friends and i were discussing the extractor/sharuum effects and their implications in standard and extended this is my thoughts for an adaptation for a vintage mill fest
looking to see if anyone is familiar with some other cards that might better augment this pile at a quick glance i think the dark rits and an amount of the extractor demons are cutable to make room for something that someone out there might come across hey maybe it is good as it is?
instants 21 1x entomb 4x dark ritual 4x thirst for knowledge 4x force of will 4x mana drain 1x vampiric tutor 1x ancestral recall 1x echoing truth 1x mystical tutor
creatures 7 3x sharuum 4x extractor demon
sorcerys 8 1x yawgmoth's will 1x tinker 1x demonic 1x timewalk 4x cabal therapy
artifacts 7 1x black lotus 1x mana vault 1x mox jet 1x mox sapphire 1x mox emerald 1x mox pearl 1x mox ruby
lands 17 1x watery grave 6x fetch 4x underground sea 5x island 1x stripmine

i noticed gifts ungiven but no yawgmoth's will splash gifts for: time vault, voltaic key, yawg's will, and regrowth (at least i think thats the standard gifts pile) basically no matter which 2 they choose the other spells enable u to get the missing piece back

It's card parity, not advantage, and you can't play it when you have no cards in hand. It's certainly card parity, but it's also virtual card advantage in the same way Brainstorm is. Admittedly it's strictly inferior to Brainstorm, but could it not be useful for decks that do run a chunk of potentially dead cards, whether it's Oath or Slaver builds with more robots? I'm particularly interested in the fact that Lat-Nam's is an instant. Has anyone here tested Lat-Nam's, and how did it work out for you?i've only played it once in oath and it is a one of and it is only good for the two creatures if they get stuck in your hand it is basically playing a card to help your bad hand or a bad draw which means you should have mulligan'd and it can back fire because you might redraw what you threw away overall brainstorm is better for dealing with the above situation

well i think giving cards to your opponent is never a good thing inherently, card advantage wins games
first responce: you do tax your opponent with hand size damage but im thinking since the black vise is in there upkeep and all the drawing is done in the draw phase it would make sense to just spend the 4 mana on juggernauts second thoughts: i wont discount the deck due to its prison nature and i think the arcane lab and arcane denial is a good mix with this font of mythos/black vise kill strategy

try putting in some thirst for knowledge it will give you card draw plus a way to dump creatures from your hand into the grave
i would say platz and archangel are pretty much gonna do the same thing for you so i'd go the shrouded angel route to keep it more safe
niv would be good to stay if you add in the thirsts and other card draw
kaervek is funny against storm decks
dominus djinn clone raptor seem unnecessary unless you are playing this deck casually with friends
most people are not gonna bother commenting because this website is more focused on competitive play and current meta analysis not to be cruel but your deck is too slow to compete
i am assuming you are being honest about your card pool and you just don't have any power which is what makes vintage tick and it pretty much required to be able to compete healthily most decks need either pro active discard spells like thoughtseize or duress or counters like force of will and mana drain mainly because people want to stop you from accomplishing your goal so they can accomplish their own and win

There may be some scenarios, too, when you need your life total to become 10.
But if you hit it second, it makes the first Oath activation for Hellkite Overlord or Akroma pointless.
long term plans?

ill agree with the first and last part gunslinga
but the oath deck was my first thought when i saw this guy i think the new angel is better tho that redirection is great and shroud is almost the same as the protection he offers in a vintage environment

Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Conflux/Dream Halls combo deck?

i think this is gonna be a sweet build its gonna be a tool box thing you can get 5 cards
1 more conflux 1 situational card 1 pitchable card to situational card (multicolored) 1 counterspell 1 combo piece for something else or if necessary a pitchable card for the counter spell (multicolored)
you can use manamorphose in conjunction with seething song and rituals for the speeding out and they can each fetched with conflux seperately to add more storm for a tendrils of what ever kill the deck eventually finds

another cool card you might want to look into is spell stutter sprite as a recruiter target (also pitchable to force if need be) and if you want situational cards you might want to move a single ethersworn cannonist to the main against storm since it is a prevalent deck
also another deck route to consider (red blue) would be recruiter and master of etherium and focus on artifacts and put in the likes of trisk colossus titan main

hey seems like the sharuum deck is looking for optimal artifacts to win with (i admire the innovation with the spellweaver helix thing) so my two cents is the helm of obedience leyline of the void kill it is also a kill apart from oathing sharuum plus if you feel like merging it with the bridge zombie kill the synergy with the leyline is already on the up and up just a thought in case no one has explored that route hope it sparks something else if it is not optimal build

shouldn't root maze be coupled with choke (magus of the moon goes if choke goes in) probably best to keep in board in case you indeed are not playing against a blue deck spirit guides seem good but that means you probably might not have a full hand to use the LoA or the magus of the library

what about switching the mana base to include volcanic island, underground sea, polluted delta, flooded strand instead of city of brass and gemstone mine and possibly cut 1 juggernaut for the 3rd goblin welder

so if you do switch to u/b...then maybe md -2 tundra -2 fetch +2 underground seas +2 basic
-3 argivian Find -1 enlightened Tutor
+3 reconstruction +1 ponder
sb -1 balance -3 seal of cleansing -4 t-crypt
+1 needle +1 trickbind for storm decks or oath maybe +4 leyline of the void (oath dumps all revealed cards into graveyard and you etruth what they put into play off the oath and you have a second sideable etruth already so i think most oath only has 2 creatures main right? and hopefully you can get into your free turn loop before they get another chance to oath) +2 helm of obedience
