In for a large athletic fit as long as it's a v-neck. Not particular about color. Graphics on the back.
3  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Um.. Judge.. Foil.. FORCE OF WILL on: May 08, 2014, 02:55:40 pm
Personally, I think guys like Mith that foil everything will prefer the foil version.

Right on...I'll be buying as many as I can get my hands on as soon as they start popping up  Very Happy

These are not JUST the first foil print of the card, but they've limited the distribution method beyond even regular Judge Foils...expect these to be worth a pretty penny both now and in the long run.

No worries if you don't agree, just sell them to me  Wink
4  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage For Cash in Vacaville! Resultslistspics! on: January 27, 2014, 07:03:46 pm
These Delver lists without green are pretty soft to Oath even post-board... more so without any discard.

Spell Snare is one possibility perhaps, but relying on Cage is a mistake as most of these decks are running Abrupt Decay in multiples. You need a way to remove Oath...

Jesse's list looks a touch short on cards...

Kudos Soly...you know I love this deck as well, though my poor record versus Shops has led me to shelve this.

I like your list but still think the second Ritual and the Top are superfluous. I'd rather have more countermagic in the slots, and be able to tutor for the Ritual if needed. I also agree with Steve on the DGrids...this deck has a rather respectable matchup versus control, and I've always wanted to see more discard spells and mana-efficient counters in the matchup. I like DGrid better in decks that are much more control-light.

Congrats on the a very respectable run!

I'd rather just oath up a Woodripper versus shops.
9  Eternal Formats / Ritual-Based Combo / Re: Doomsday (the Ritual approach) on: October 01, 2013, 11:33:11 am
White and Green hatebears both pose a problem to going off...which is why the red splash and Pyroclasm is so good. It covers everything.
10  Eternal Formats / Ritual-Based Combo / Re: Doomsday (the Ritual approach) on: October 01, 2013, 10:06:13 am
Why is Top superfluous? Because it's not needed to win. Yes it helps you sculpt and it can be used as a draw to win, but I'd rather have Probe in that slot as it lets me know if the way is clear for me to go off.
11  Eternal Formats / Ritual-Based Combo / Re: Doomsday (the Ritual approach) on: September 30, 2013, 04:48:41 pm
I like Chewer better than anything green can offer (including Trygon). One Volc in the main and a mountain in the board should do it. Adding red gives you access to Pyroclasm, which is the best all-purpose wipe vs. multiple hate bears.

I ran 4x Snuff Out and brought in a basic swamp from the board. Such a great card for this deck to sideboard in...

I kept Probe. Its a nice cantrip, adds to your felxibility, and gives you great info. It's far from necessary, but I consider it a personal choice. The spot can also be filled with a Top, though that card feels a lot more like training wheels to me.
12  Eternal Formats / Ritual-Based Combo / Re: Doomsday (the Ritual approach) on: September 30, 2013, 12:34:52 pm
Played Steve's list with one Ritual and 4x Snuff Out in the Board and top-4'd a rather small Xtreme Games tourney.

One Ritual was by-far all that I ever wanted to see and/or tutor for. I never had trouble casting DDay, and was happy to tutor for the ritual when needed.

The list felt very solid. Shops was quite manageable, and next time I'll be adding a red splash for Chewers and a Pyroclasm.
13  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] DOOMSDAY RETURNS: How to Build Doomsday Piles and Win in T1 on: August 28, 2013, 08:57:29 am
I'm testing out a build with one ritual. It's nice to have as a tutor target for a quick win. That being said, it's always my preference to have flexibility.
14  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: N.Y.S.E. Open I - Official Tournament Report on: June 17, 2013, 09:49:56 am
First, an enormous THANK YOU to Nick for putting together such an excellent event. Vigilant security, lots of food available for cheap, very responsive judges, and an amazing prize structure. It's very reassuring to see the future of Vintage tournaments in the hands of people who so clearly love the game, and are willing to go the extra distance.  Very Happy

I ran Rector Show and had a blast, just missing the Top 8 with a Round 6 third-game loss to Paul after he comboed out the turn before I could. Paul plays quickly but methodically, and makes very few unforced errors...after he beat me, I was pretty sure he'd take down the tournament. I did end up with a beautiful foil Future Sight Tarmogoyf as a raffle prize, so no complaints on my end.

It was great seeing a lot of familiar faces, and when the next Open goes down I'll fly out again to represent the Midwest.
15  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Academy Rector/Show and Tell Omniscience Combo Deck on: June 17, 2013, 09:40:10 am
I played a similar list at NYSE on Saturday, and just missed the top 8. Your build needs more gas, whether it be mana acceleration or card draw. This will help the shops matchup, which is VERY favorable for this deck.
16  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Dark Stage on: May 24, 2013, 05:15:42 pm
While I like the notion of strengthening Dark Times with more combo redundancy, Landstill is probably the first place this. That being said, I really want Dark Times to be viable deck...

19  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Gencon 2013 on: May 09, 2013, 11:45:47 am
It seems Wizards is going to have a huge 20th anniversary bash somewhere.  I won't be going to a gencon this year.

So if this is the case, they really should give us a heads up. People need time to make plans, request time off, buy travel, etc.

I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am in how this was handled. Why wait until the last second and let Vintage/Legacy players find out like this?
20  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Omniscience 2013 on: April 26, 2013, 07:00:49 pm
Mono U is fine for Legacy (though why you'd play this over Sneak&Show is beyond me), but way too slow in Vintage.

There are better ways to run Omni if you want to play it, but I'd rather focus on it bringing advantage over trying to combo out.
21  Vintage Community Discussion / Community Introductions / Re: Anyone Near Chicago/O'Hare Airport for play testing? on: March 20, 2013, 04:45:52 pm
I'm in Chicago as well.

Monthly there's a Vintage tournament at Xtreme Games...get's a decent number of players and is worth attending.

For Legacy, the Dice Dojo runs tournaments twice a month (Mondays) and has 20+ people there consistently. I've heard Pasttimes rarely gets enough for their Legacy events...

I'll second the idea of using sealed starters, but would be in for this regardless.

I wouldn't underestimate this card. It grows fast and is in the right colors. UR Delver has a new friend.

28  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: How to respond to the creature removal as beatdown on: February 16, 2012, 02:53:26 pm
Backing up your creatures with Remora is almost always an excellent play. It forces your opponent to deal with the threats and allows you to get ahead quickly. While I love Jace as much as the next guy, Remora fits so well with a beatdown plan.
29  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: (Free Article) Picking Brains - Innistrad Set Review on: September 29, 2011, 08:42:01 am
I'm not conviced that Dredge is the best place for Laboratory Maniac. The same hate that keeps you down games 2 and 3 will stop you from milling your deck. While Maniac gives you a more-resilient game 1 win condition, it doesn't really improve the post-board matchups.

That being said, I'm sure Maniac has a home somewhere...
30  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage Championships Report and Deck Discussion -- Top Eight on: August 13, 2011, 10:07:46 pm
Both Jesse and I played this list the following day in the tournament for the From The Vaults products. Congrats to Rich for assembling what was quite-clearly the best performing Vintage deck of the weekend. We ran a second Jailer in the place of the Trap, but otherwise kept the list as-is.

For me, the deck was amazing. I smashed my way through two Dredge decks (including the one that won the Champs the night before) courtesy of Mental Misstep. Rich isn't kidding when he says that card is the real deal. It was pure gold all day, and vs. Dredge it stops 99% of the cards they sideboard in games 2 and 3. I quite like the second Jailer, as your Mental Missteps can keep them quite safe once they get in play.

Library was great in theory, but I ended up getting screwed one game when I drew Library instead of the second Island I needed to get my early Gushes rolling.

Jesse ended up splitting the finals. I watched one match when he Praetor's Grasped his opponent's Fast Bond and went off with it Smile

The only change (aside from the Library and running a second Jailer) that I would recommend is something vs. the Fish matchup. Dismembers are great, but I rather like the idea of running one Virtue's Ruin in the Grasp spot.
