I was surprised to see no mention of the word 'loose', always a favourite of 'loosers' everywhere.

I can normally tell just be reading if someone is either doesn't speak English as their first language, or if they're just stupid.

One thing that I still find weird is the number of non-English speaking Europeans who add an "H" to the word "ability".

Book Burning (and many other "punisher mechanic" cards) caused a lot of problems, mostly due to people who do not understand the role of commas in English or that the word "has" does not always denote a possessive.  However, another problem was caused by an unfortunate line break that made some who read the card insert a comma where none was.

Consequently, there were many people who were confused by the card for these reasons.

The main problem with Book Burning is that it appealed to exactly that segment of the Magic population that is least able to think. Even barring the slightest understanding of the English language it should be possible to figure out what the card does from an understanding of the general power level of card put out by Wizards (well, since Bargain and forgetting about Skullclamp anyway).
