i think wizards is changing the name of vintage to eternal because if you look at ratings for formats its says constructed eternal and limited rather then vintage. http://webapp.wizards.com/DCIRanking/ |

My best guess is that might be a combined rating for Vintage & the yet unnamed Type 1.5.

Do we know when wizards will name t1.5? 1.5 is just basicly extended with duel lands and force of will. Owell I was hoping i found something more useful. Either way eternal doesnt sound that great to me.

Well, our format is now officially called Vintage. Before the 1.5 changes, it was called offically "Type 1", and Vintage was the collective noun for 1 and 1.5. So obviously, they need a new group name for the two older formats, one of which is Vintage and the other one yet to be named.
I think Eternal was chosen because the formats don't rotate, and thus stay eternally the same. That also means that the new 1.5 will affect the Eternal rating and not the constructed rating.

What the hell is so crummy about it? It's just a collective name for Vintage and XXXX. Who cares if it doesn't win a Pulizer? Matter of fact, I think it's rather fitting for the reasons Dozer mentioned.
I'm just curious what the new 1.5 name will be. I really hope they pick one o'mine (yes, I was a nughty boy and send in more than one :-)

Just so that we are clear, and I cannot tell if everyone realizes this. Eternal is Type 1 AND Type 1.5. Type 1 is still called Vintage. Just a note.  |

Type 1 is now called Vintage
'Type 1.5' now has a Banned list independent of the Type 1 B & R list
'Type 1.5' will be renamed soon (hence the use of quotes),
The ratings category that includes Vintage and 'Type 1.5' DCI-sanctioned tournaments is now called Eternal. So, yeah. |
