Last type 1 tournament I entered had the finals split between a Ubr tezzeret build and local vintage genius Martin Bonneville's combo deck, Miroir Magique. In the top 8 also was an affinity deck. I couldn't see his decklist since I left before top 8, but it inspired me in building one.
Without further ado:
4 Ornithopter 4 Disciple of the Vault 4 Arcbound Worker 4 Arcbound Ravager 4 Etherium Sculptor 4 Frogmite
4 Thoughtcast 4 Skullclamp Ancestral Recall Time Walk Vampiric Tutor Demonic Tutor Demonic Consultation Yawgmoth's Will
Mana Crypt Mana Vault Sol Ring Lotus Petal Black Lotus Mox Ruby Mox Emerald Mox Jet Mox Pearl Mox Sapphire Tolarian Academy 4 Vault of Whispers 4 Seat of the Synod 3 Underground Sea
The deck is semi decent but can't reliably kill before turn 4. Turn 2 and 3 happen, but it's unreliable. I'd like to have tips by other folks who tried to build affinity in vintage.

I kinda like the idea, or maybe I like Ravager. Anyhow, it can't possibly work. It's fast aggro without hate. But very easily hated itself. If it can't reliably kill by turn 3 or hate out the opponent you are either dead OR in a dead-lock. There is no place for Ravager in vintage, because they're all artifacts and we all hate artifacts >=D

You should have something to deal with opposing null rods. Here's a vintage Affinity idea I have: //Lands: 17 1 Tolarian Academy 4 Seat of the Synod 4 Great Furnace 4 Volcanic Island 4 Underground Sea
//Creatures: 20 4 Arcbound Ravager 4 Disciple of the Vault 4 Ornithopter 4 Frogmite 4 Etherium Sculptor
//Other Spells: 23 1 Black Lotus 2 Shattering Spree 3 Thoughtcast 1 Tinker 1 Voltaic Key 1 Time Vault 4 Force of will 1 Lotus Petal 4 Skullclamp 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Sapphire
Sideboard: 2 Bitter Ordeal 1 Inkwell Leviathan 2 Mindslaver 4 Mana Drain 2 Master Transmuter 4 Goblin Welder

Null Rod is one of many concerns. How about the lands, if you think playing duals could be unsafe, try Seat of the Synod and friends. On top of that, these lands don't do anything special except being artifacts. The Vault/key include is always nice but finding it is something else with limited draws. Going skullclamp gives consistancy but loses speed in terms of agression. I find it hard coming up with a deck which would lose to this deck which isn't tier 1 or 2. Tier 3 decks should be designed to murder top tier decks, not have the same and more weaknesses but no hate yourself to show for it. Burn, R/G Beats or agressive Fish-builds are better at handling the tough competition while having little or no weaknesses itself.

That Etherium Sculpter is kinda useless isn't it? When it's in play, maybe your frogmites are free and skullclamps are free.
Frogmites are almost always free anyways and 1 for Skullclamp isn't THAT expensive.
Those 4 cards should be something else.

With sculptor out, skullclamp and worker are free, and ravager costs 1 less. Add to that that mana vault and sol ring are free as well.
The poins is that once it's out, you can draw nearly your entire deck and use nearly every artifact mana source to just equip skullclamp. It makes the deck so much faster you can't even realise.
It looks like there's a fail somewhere, but i'd rather call it a combo deck that can use the red zone than an aggro deck.

Kind of part sui-black part affinity part painters'.... (probably garbage)
-17 Lands 1 Tolarian Academy 4 Vault of Whispers 4 Great Furnace 4 Badlands 3 Wasteland 1 Strip
-4 Non-Artifact Creatures 4 Disciple of the Vault
-8 Non-Artifacts Non-Creatures 4 Overload 2 Red Elemental Blast 2 Thoughtseize
- 31 Artifacts 4 Heap Doll 4 Arcbound Ravager 4 Frogmite 4 Painter's Servant 3 Pithing Needle 2 Cranial Plating 2 Grindstone 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Emperald 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Jet 1 Lotus Petal 1 Black Lotus
Sideboard: 4 Blood Crypt 4 Duress 2 Thoughtseize 2 Red Elemental Blast 3 Pyroblast
The main deck is all artifacts with a little draw and a little disruption.
SB against non-null rod you can SB out the Overload and add in Duress/Thoughtseize (combo) or REB/Pyro (control).
I choose Overloard because it costs 1 and it's an instant. It kills null rod which is all you really care about. as a bonus it'll he Vault/Key/Painter/Grindstone. Could also be Ignot to avoid Duress I suppose.
Null Rod fish can be tough, but usually they are blue so just treat it like a control match-up, i.e. SB REB/Pyro. In this case you want to add in the blood crypts.
3 Needles, 4 Wastes, some self-sacrificing creatures, and a decent clock is... decent against ichorid.
Mana base probably sucks (never been very good with them).

I used to play speed-affinity in old extended, with chrome moxen. If I would have to build this in Vintage I'd keep it as aggro as possible, with lots of Needles and little combo. I'd play Shrapnel Blast because I loved it back then. When he's low on life but you're without gas you can topdeck Blast, it also works against Tps sometimes when they Necro or Bargain 1 life too many.
It still can't work IMO

this looks almost exactly like the old standard deck, which is the first reason i dont think this can work in vintage. when moved out of the cardpool-of-the-year to the cardpool-that-includes-blacklotus, decks generally need a complete overhaul to be effective, and usually look very little like their extended/standard counterparts (madness being a notable exeption, and this deck is not good now for much the same reasons madness isnt good anymore).
workshop/tomb>>>>>seat of synod/great furnace. really, in a world defined by you lose artifact activations vs. rod.dec, the beloved artifact lands have no place in vintage. if you want to accelerate artifacts, these do the job great. thats why they are played in top decks.
ravager though, is one of those guys that has been languishing on the fringes of playability for some time. his biggest problem imho is that he is a 2-cc artifact with an activated ability that doenst just win. however, in the right deck ravager can go the distance and combo out t2/3 for alot of damage. so in a way ravager can 'win right now'
triskelion. a must with ravager. blowing up a huge ravager, stacking up a huge trike, then directing everything straight to the dome allows a combo kill that ignores the attack phase. on top of that trike is a master bob/welder assassin. 4 thopters and 4 frogmites are way too many. its not standard, and you cant afford to blow so many slots on do-nothing-beaters. of course, once you take out affinity beaters its no longer affinity and more like ravager-combo, a much more likely competitor (but still tier 3 or so)

Most decks are better with restricted cards. Restrict: Drain, Workshop, Bazaar, Skullclamp. Unrestrict: LoAlexandria, Manavault, Frantic Search, Burning Wish, FoFiction,TfK, Regrowth, 3sphere, DemConsultation. Fix: Zodiac Dragon, Transmute Artifac

You need Workshops, Esperzoas, Master of Etheriums, Tangle Wires, Cranial Platings, and Myr Enforcers. I strongly suggest cutting the T2 crap like Ravager, Disciple, Sculptor, and Skullclamp. I slapped together an affinity deck that could consistantly turn 3 goldfish but the problem is that it almost never goldfished faster unless it got the insane zoa+wire lock on like turn 2 and it folded worse than Ichorid to any decent form of hate. If you're willing to fold to Kataki, Null Rod, Energy Flux, faster decks, and mass bounce I could probably dig up my decklist somewhere for you.

I helped a buddy of mine design an Affinity deck that won a Mox a few years back. We designed it do be fast and almost combo-y. The important engine in the deck was Genesis Chamber + Skullclamp. Aside from that it ran mostly the standard stuff; Platings, Frogmites, Enforcers, Ravagers, Thoughtcasts and Disciples. I think it also ran red for Shrapnel Blast and artifact kill to deal with Null Rod in the board (I think we ran Overload since Null Rod was literally the only card we cared about killing). It goldfished really fast, turn 3 consistently. Genesis Chamber + Skullclamp is a sickening draw engine, particularly if you can get down Academy to go with it.

I'd love to see this list. I also agree on with Overload.

It's probably something like this
4 Arcbound Ravager 4 Frogmite 3 Myr Enforcer/Ornithopter 4 Disciple of the Vault
4 Thoughtcast 4 Skullclamp 3 Genesis Chamber
4 Cranial Plating 2 Shrapnel Blast
1 Ancestral Recall 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Timetwister 1 Wheel of Fortune 1 Tinker 1 Memory Jar 1 Crop Rotation
1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Black Lotus 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mana Vault 1 Sol Ring 1 Lotus Petal 4 Seat of the Synod 2 Vault of Whisper 4 City of Brass 1 Tolarian Academy
EDIT: Personally I wouldn't play the Shrapnel Blasts. I'd play the above list with 2 Chambers and some Chain of Vapors and Lion's Eye Diamond/Fastbond maybe.
