I'm proud to announce N.Y.S.E. Lite, a Stax Exchange production paid for by viewers like you.
When:
Sunday, March 28th, 2010 Registration begins at 11am First round begins promptly at 12 noon.
What:
$15, 15 proxy, non-sanctioned Vintage tournament with a guaranteed 1st place prize of a Mishra's Workshop. Second place prize of a Volcanic Island is guaranteed at 20 entrants. There will be a scaling prize structure. There will be no deck registration sheets or match result slips.
Where:
The Comicbook Depot 2847 Jerusalem Avenue Wantagh, NY 11793-2016 (516) 221-9337
Some important disclaimers:
1. These events WILL NOT COUNT towards the N.Y.S.E. Player of the Year Race. I wanted to run smaller local events to help grow my local community. I get incredible support from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and more, and I felt that the only way that the N.Y.S.E. tournaments could take the next step - to consistently having 40-60 players - is to grow the local community.
2. These tournaments WILL NOT supplant the major N.Y.S.E. events, which run monthly or bi-monthly. Your larger power tournaments are still going to be scheduled, so no worries.
3. The location of the larger tournaments WILL REMAIN THE SAME. These are smaller events held at a smaller location. While drawing players from out of the area is nice, my primary goal is to grow the local community.
If you've got questions, fire away.
Hope to see everyone on the 28th...

This is true, but that doesn't mean we can't all go out to Applebee's in Bellmore after and party it up.

Yes Jimmy. Still, there's nothing against pre-gaming or post-gaming. So depot is an alchol free area... Urgh...
This is true, but that doesn't mean we can't all go out to Applebee's in Bellmore after and party it up. Applebees sounds like a fine idea. I'm definitely down for that after the event. Somehow I think a few of the others might be as well...

Like this'll stop you from putting it into a Snapple bottle. Not going to make this one; too small to dedicate a day and travel imo. I'll be at the bigger one this month, though. Good luck on both, Nick.

Good luck on both, Nick. Thanks Joe. As a side note, I'm in the market for Drains, Shops, Bazaars, and other not quite power cards. I would like to deal with anyone in person, so if you live in the area, and you have a spare Shop, Bazaar, Drain, please let me know.

It'll be great to see you there buddy. I think it's going to be a great day. I keep hearing from other people that intend on making the trip, it might be a larger event than I thought.

My boss was nice enough to give me the day off so I will likely be in attendance as well.

Ralph Parsinitz, you make my days. My boss was nice enough to give me the day off so I will likely be in attendance as well.
You going to take this down too Glackin? I should be at this one as well, considering its 15 minutes away from my house and all.
I would hope so. Then again, I'm probably driving, no? After all, you owe me a night of drunken antics. Especially after I made such an ass out of myself in PA. Maybe my hands are going to be cold this time. You ever think about that Mikey Egan? In all seriousness, I'm really looking forward to this event. I'm also considering playing, so long as no one takes issue with it. I'm on the fence at the moment, but I would consider it because I figure that since it's a smaller tournament, with no registration sheets, etc, people might not give a damn. I will never play in one of the larger N.Y.S.E.events, so you need never fear seeing me sitting across from you at the beginning of round one. Unless, of course, you have the bye, and you just enjoy my company that much...

Wow, I'm surprised that what was gonna be a small, local tournament is getting such a big response. I'm happy to see all these people wanting to get together to help grow our community and spread the word of Vintage to new places. I think smaller tournaments like this with lower entrance fees and smaller prizes are what communities need to grow since "non-vintage" players don't have to commit as much money to entering the tournament to get blown out by people who do this every weekend.
I can't wait to see everyone there.

18 players for the main flight, 8 for the side event. Ralph Parsinitz (Tezz) and Alex Owen (Dredge) met in the finals of the main event, with Alex taking down the tournament. In the side event finals Greg Fenton (Iona Oath) met TJ Gumina (Shop Aggro), with TJ taking down the side event.
We had an absolute blast. We had 6 guys come from out of state for this smaller event and I have to say that seeing Keith Seals, Ralph Parsinitz, and several new faces made my day.
I'll have a brief report up tomorrow. Now, though, it's time for some well earned rest.

We had a great time, Nick. Thanks for hosting this, it was well worth the drive! Hopefully next time I can do a little better, lol. Just wasn't my day.
But events like this are the exact reason I love the Vintage community and I wish other people could see how much fun it is.

Agree. Props to the velcro ball game and the people at the event + dinner. Slops to the terrible waitress, no vintage beer pong and overall lack of James Hangley's antics.
