Hey everyone. So I have a vintage tourney coming up on thursday. I'm planning on running this prison build. So far it fairs well against powered decks but seems to have a disadvantage against powered oath which I'm pretty sure everyone is going to be running at the tourney. The deck runs very well and is resilient. The only problem it runs into is having to deal with all the hate. I'm kind of a rookie pilot at running MUD. My question is how do you pilot around artifact hatred and decks like Oath? Is Chalice supposed to be the answer for everything and should I be running 4 instead of 3? Anything will help thanks.
Artifacts (21) Chalice of the Void x3 Sphere of Resistance x3 Thorn of Amythest x3 Trinisphere Crucible of Worlds Voltaic Key x2 Staff of Domination Sculpting Steel x2 Tangle Wire x3 Sensei’s Divining Top x2
Mana Artifacts (4) Sol Ring Mana Vault Mana Crypt Lotus Petal
Creatures (10) Metalworker x2 Lodestone Golem x4 Emrakul Inkwell Leviathan Duplicant Karn, Silver Golem
Spells (5) Tinker Krosan Grip x3 Crop Rotation
Land (19) Wasteland x3 Strip Mine Ancient Tomb x4 Darksteel Citadel x2 Seat of Synod x4 Tolarian Academy Gemstone Mine x4
Side Board (15) Leyline of the Void x4 Blood Moon x3 Darkblast x3 Rack and Ruin Goblin Welder x3 Chain Vapor

I never support playing suboptimal decks as a result of a Card pool constraints, but I guess that's that Vintage elitist in me. I don't think this list is a very good idea. The chalices are fine since you don't have any moxes to lock out by playing it at zero. I question the efficacy of the thorns, spheres and trinispheres in the deck. To make the strategy work you need to be way up on mana and be attacking your opponent's mana. This has ancient tomb and Metalworker, but missing out on moxes, lotus and workshops is a huge setback in this gameplan. On the other side of the coin you only have 3 wastelands and just one crucible of worlds for recursion. When I look through the list I keep on seeing a bunch of cards that don't quite make sense to me. I see voltaic key, but only 3 things I would actually want to untap with it. I see a bunch of one-of misers cards but no tutors to grab them with. If you really have your heart set on unpowered MUD I would probably build something like the legacy lists http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=38943

Alright so I ran this last night and by all means I was impressed. Even though it was unpowered and unshopped it finished 3-1. Killed powered noble fish 2-0, 2-1 against some weird vampire deck, 2-1 against powered oath, and unfortunately lost to a powered dredge 0-2. I cut down my colored spells by a bit but what the hell do i do against decks like ichorid dredge. This was my first tournament in a year and I've never seen the dredge builds in action. Any help would do especially with my sideboard.

dredge scoops to leyline of the void and chalice at 1. u have to devote more than 4 slots in your 75 to beating them otherwise your going to have to get lucky. They will win almost every game 1, meaning you have to win game 2 and 3 to beat them.

You should go back and revamp this list while looking at some legacy stax manabases. Start here:
4 ancient tomb 3 city of traitors 4 wasteland 1 strip mine 1 academy 8 more lands (depending on colors or lack thereof)...artifact lands blow...
1 sol ring 1 mana vault 1 manacrypt
I don't like lotus petal in here or opal. I would run mox diamond (or grim monolith, though I prefer mox diamond)...and adjust my casting costs downward from workshop builds with power. Your average mana will be 2.5-4 throughout the game...theirs will be 3+, have a reasonable expectation of your production and only run the most powerful drops in your range. I wouldnt run a full 8 4 drops either. A word on spheres: they don't work in builds like this because your manabase accelerates to 3 quickly and hangs there, your opponent is better able to play through. I would drop spheres and only run:
4 chalice 1 trinisphere 4 wire 4 smokestack 3 crucible
Colors are much better in builds lacking the full manabase, I would add the following as my 8 new lands: 4 city of brass 3 gemstone mine 1 b-ring
Colored staples: 1 tinker 1 demo 1 vamp 1 crop rot
