Just look up the SNL version of Miracles.  Hell even watch the original ICP version, that's bad enough.

Still, the thread premise eludes me.  Are you asking what bands are bad, yet have enough money in production value to make them not seem bad?

The vid I posted from the band I posted made a really great song (the one I posted) that to me is far better than most of the songs made by their peers (it hurts my brain thinking of current hiphop artists).

I like good rap songs, but most of them suck.  This one seems like a stand out.

They made this song with their own resources (indie band, as far as I know).

Are there other bands that have hidden gems out there?

SNL can mock a song, and so can Weird Al, but that doesn't make the original songs suck.

Quite frankly, I first heard this song at a dive bar.  I had to ask who made it.  I was shocked to find out it was ICP.

does 50cent or The Game or Kanye West have anything close to as great of a song?  I'm almost 40, so I'm out of the loop to what kids listen to nowadays.

I think he's asking what bands are bad but happen to make a classic (basically).

Yeah sometimes the original song can suck completely on it's own, without the help of someone making fun of it.

But I get ya, I like some of the songs Wierd Al makes fun of and makes me appreciate his versions as well.  I still remember the video for Smells like Nirvana.  Fucking Classic.

Most rap sux pretty bad, try looking way back at albums like Doggystyle or Enter the Wu-Tang.  It's funny how when I stopped smoking years and years ago, my interest in rap music died...

But I guess back on topic, I really dont like the band Linkin Park.  The whole rap-metal/rock thing was done best by Rage imo and has been well played out.  Too many bands added a DJ in the mix (or already had one, but w/e).  They have a song that I just can't help but like though, Given Up.  Dunno why, but it's heavy as hell and doesn't have a stupid DJ adding little or nothing to the song.

Also there's a band that I really shouldn't like.....but I do.  Electric Six.  I tried to resist, every fiber in my being tried not to like it.  But in the end I had to succumb.  They lyrics are just stupid fun.  Dance Commander, Gay Bar, and Danger! High Voltage crawl under my skin.  God have mercy on me, because they are coming to my town soon.

Not necessarily, although they may well qualify in a lot of cases ("My Sharona" comes to mind). I think this thread is more about mediocre bands/solo artists who happen to have one great song. It's not unknown for recording artists to have plenty of hits (in sales/airplay terms), yet none of them are that good (New Kids On The Block come to mind as popular yet mediocre artists from my youth).

I think the notion is not of one-hit wonders, but rather a band that is able to craft a song that transcends its other material, possibly its own genre as well.  Music can be entirely subjective, so such categorization can be difficult.
While I do not know the entire band's catalogue, I would say that Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen has this transcendent quality.  This may not be the best example, since I do enjoy other Queen songs as well...
Maybe Born Slippy by Underworld would fall under that category then.
