http://www.mtgcast.com/?p=23216 This Week in Magic
– We’re joined this week by Stephen Menendian, Vintage player extraordinaire and writer on Eternal-Central.com, who gives us a nice look at Vintage as a format and the nifty stuff you can do there. You can grab his book, Understanding Gush, over on Quiet Speculation or follow him on Twitter @SMenendian I haven't listened to it yet, but they interviewed me this week about Vintage, the Reserved List, and much more. Enjoy.

It was annoying to have to talk so much about the reserved list and proxies, but I guess that's what non-Vintage players are interested in.
If you liked it, you should let them know and tell them what kind of content you'd like to hear more of.

Will do. More vintage talk less standard.

Yeah, great show. And a good intro for non-vintage players! They seemed most interested. One thing it was missing, though, was a pointer to your podcast! Might want to get them to bring that up in a later edition...

I don't know how many players normally listen to their cast, but anything to improve the visibility of Vintage is a good thing I think. Thanks for taking the time to be an ambassador for the format.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.
Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops. I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

Would you mind revealing your madness-list? I'm interested in it, but not going to pay $4 for just the deck list. (Don't buy much cards, so set reviews ain't my cup of tea)

Listened to the podcast because Menedian was in it. I perceived that Steve was speaking more slowly and carefully than usual; was this intentional, or did you have a few whiskey sours before going on the air....?
I thought you did a marvelous job. You totally avoided being condescending or wordy, which would be a danger when you're talking with non-Vintage players about issues well-resolved within Vintage. You really sold the format well, I thought.

heh. No, it was deliberate, for the reasons you noted.

Nice job here, Steve.
Fewer 'likes' (sry central OH) and more summary descriptions (you don't need that much description about how dredge kills you), but your points were well placed and especially so given the audience. I'm nitpicking, but I think this is a good communication of what's going on with the format and what it is relative to the rest of magic.

Dont think this is a bad thing. Topics such as the ones you mentioned and things like first turn kills are often what come to people's minds who dont play vintage. I feel it is important that we are vigilant in dispelling the myths even if it means repeating it for 139th time.
