My first article for MTGGoldfish came out tonight, so I thought I'd post it here. I was asked to write Vintage articles for the site, and specifically they wanted me to start with an introductory piece. This article will be old news to established players, but perhaps you can appreciate the concept of introducing MTGO players to Vintage.

If you notice any details missing, it was likely intentional. Throwing too much info or unnecessary details  at someone can be overwhelming.

After a couple of articles in this vein, I will be back to my regular routine.

Thanks!

I'm touched but I would definitely encourage you to highlight a more "stock" Dredge list in the future - there's a pretty reasonably-sized crowd online rocking those lists

"I fully believe that if Dredge could play a transformational sideboard it would just win all the tournaments yet it just doesn’t have one because there is just nothing that it can play. It’d be awesome to completely ignore all those very specific hate cards people bring against you but how are you going to do that?" - Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa

Looks good. I'm glad you mentioned VSL, since I think that's the best way for new players to get an idea of what you're supposed to do with a vintage deck.

IMO delver is the easiest deck for people who are used to "normal" formats to pick up. The biggest difference is that the things you're trying to prevent your opponent from doing are more terrifying and gush is a non-intuitive card if you haven't played with it before. I guess the problem is that it's not as vintage'y as the other decks. Oath is also a reasonable place to start, although I don't think it's currently very well positioned.

In the follow-up, I suggest starting with a traditional Dredge list first. It's a bit easier to pick up (No Force of Will), and should be a little less to worry about (knowing which cards to side out).

Thanks for checking it out  Very Happy

I think article is perfect as an intro for players not familiar with format.
It is really nice that MTGGoldfish hired you for this.

Thank you very much. So far the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm honored to be able to have the position, because I'm truly nobody special.

I go out of my way to talk to everyone that approaches me in Magic Online, Facebook, or Twitter. Players far better than I helped me out and spoke with me when I needed a question answered. so I try to do the same.

The next one should be going up Wednesday evening. Thanks for checking it out  Wink
