Ontario Vintage Championship II – September 4th, 2004DUELING GROUNDS PRESENTS:
The Ontario Vintage Championship II – September 4th, 2004
Our first Type I event brought in 66 players during some really bad winter weather. This time around we're expecting attendance to reach over 80 which is unheard of for a sanctioned Type I tournament in this area. (you don't need to be a resident of Ontario to participate). As before, this event will be promoted across the province as well as south of the border to bring in the number of players we need to make this a success.
FORMAT
This is a 32K sanctioned event. The format will be Type I Constructed. Please check
www.thedci.com for Vintage rules. You will be required to register your deck. We suggest printing out a deck list prior to the tournament and double-checking it so mistakes are at a minimum.
There will be a minimum 6 rounds of modified Swiss pairings. After the final round is finished, the top eight players will compete in single elimination rounds for big prizes and the title of champion.
PRIZES
The top 8 players will receive prizes. Complete prizes are still to be determined. You can check out actual scans of prizes on our website at
www.dueling-grounds.com when they become available (I will post website updates on this forum). This is what we have secured so far:
MAIN EVENT:
1st prize - An Unlimited Mox Ruby in very good condition
2nd prize - TBD
3rd prize - Italian Moat signed by the artist
4th prize - Morphling
5th through 8th prize - your choice of any Revised/Unlimited dual lands that we have in stock (one per player)
SIDE EVENT:

(Side event prizes will increase according to attendance.)
There will also be a door prize and you must be preregistered to be eligible.
FREE INVITE
Bryan Finch, our previous Ontario Vintage Champion, is invited to compete free of charge to defend his title. Just don't forget your "lucky thingy"!
ENTRY FEE
The cost to enter this tournament is either $17 with a food donation or $20 without a donation.
FOOD DRIVE
Save $3 on your entry fee simply by raiding your kitchen cabinets and donating a few dollars worth of nonperishable food items. Our event is officially registered with The Daily Bread Food Bank. They are in most need of the following items: Tuna, baby formula, peanut butter, rice, canned fruit & vegetables, dried pasta, juice, powdered or canned milk and pasta sauce. Please be generous!
PREREGISTRATION
We recommend pre-registering for this event (especially for players traveling from long distances) as space is limited to 120 players. Registration at the door is on a first come, first serve basis. Please give us your complete name when pre-registering (no abbreviations please). We will confirm your registration with a reply to the address you emailed us from. Your registered spot will be held until 12:15 p.m. the day of the event. You can register at
register@dueling-grounds.comSIDE EVENTS
We will be running a sanctioned Type I constructed side event tournament beginning after round 4 when we have enough players and table space. Entry is $10 if you already entered the main event or $12 if you haven't. The K value will be determined by the number of players but will be at least 16K. We will also offer sanctioned 16K Mirrodin/Darksteel/Fifth Dawn booster drafts all day, space permitting.
