Basically, someone uploads the file and then they host it for about a week. It's awesome.

I've got a question for you guys.  As an old MAJOR fan of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.....Are there any games like that out now?  I tried Neverwinter Nights, but hated it.  I preferred the top view, controlling 5 guys at once, to the third person, individual.  I figued they did that to give the feel of an everquest, etc.....but are there any new games that have the same engine or interface.

Actually they more likely did it to make you feel more like you had your character and only your character, and that was who you were playing.

Dungeon Siege might have what you're looking for.  Although the first one was rather dull, I understand the second was a marked improvement.

Take a look at this thread www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=27622.0, I asked a similar question last week.  The best answer seemed to be Planescape: Torment.

Dungeon Siege is no where close to Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale. It's much closer to Diablo. Way too hack and slashy for my taste. I played the second Dungeon Siege and stopped after 6 hours playing. Sooo boring.

Have you tried any modules for Neverwinter Nights? The original campaign sucked, and so did most parts of the expansions. But there are some brilliant player modules you can try. Still, it's only you as a character. You still don't have Minsc.

No room in the house exceeds a length of twenty-five feet, let alone fifty feet, let alone fifty-six and a half feet, and yet Chad and Daisy's voices are echoing, each call responding with an entirely separate answer. In the living room, Navidson discovers the echoes emanating from a dark, doorless hallway which has appeared out of nowhere in the west wall.

Cool, thanks for the tips.  I'm looking for a game that conjures up the old memories of playing D&D with my friends, but not as character invested as Neverwinter Nights.  God Bladur's Gate was good.........I might have to replay that....I'll check out Planescape:Torment.  These days I love a game that has an ending.

I also went out and picked up Age of Mythology last night on a whim (wife had a migraine).  Not bad, though I think it might be a little too linear for me to maintain interest.  And the God abilities are very unbalancing.
