http://www.starcitygames.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=289737This weekend, StarCityGames.com returns to Rochester with back-to-back StarCityGames.com "Power 9" tournaments! Today, Stephen dissects the current Vintage metagame, with particular consideration of the previous Rochester Vintage tournaments! I have provided a detailed analysis of the SCG rochester metagame, and provide a detailed prediction of the field, and even a prediction of what i think particular people will play.

[Oath] Seems like a horrible choice for Rochester.
You are my new hero.

If i were going to rochester, I'd challange you to a Grudge match, and I swear, i'd show you what the best green card in magic is.... Actually, we've got a LOT in the works now that we're gunna be toying with. TK will be playing a Pile on one of the days, and at Gencon, I GUARENTEE at least ONE icbm'er will be playing our new list....

Can I ask why you feel Oath is a horrible choice? I don't necessarily feel its the best choice, because of the tons of fish in Rochester, but I would hardly call it a horrible choice.

Does Oath have a bad matchup against Fish now? Because it shouldn't. See, I have this card called Darkblast, and this card called Pyroclasm, and this card called Balance, and these Simic Sky thingies, and they tend to demoralize Fish players considerably. I find it interesting that I have more respect for Slaver than Smmenen has for Oath, and that's really saying something.

Three cheers for Slaver! Ben, watch your back, I got some new Slaver tech for the Oath match-up. I'm excited to try it out in tournament play. -AJ

It’s because Oath has never done well in the NE.
If this were a sports event or if you were a gambler, you would be an idiot to wager on Oath. It just hasn’t performed well in the Northeast compared to the other major decks. I’m not saying it’s a bad deck, per se or that the Carp brothers couldn’t perform with it, but do you honestly expect Oath to win this tournament? If so, you obviously still believe in god and Santa Claus.

Why was this thread moved? I thought moved threads kept a marker saying where they were going?

I actually had to look around for about a half hour to find where the thread was moved. I thought it was randomly deleted. That's not good for people that want to reread a thread. There should be a marker.

Actually, I didn't read it thoroughly and thought it was a re-posting of the free article on the jargon....I think....the last day or two have been kind of crazy for me at work - sometimes I hate people. Not certain people, but all mankind.
