I can't see why you would turn down the option to perhapse get free prize by scooping your cards and guaranteeing me a spot in the T8 over denying yourself any possability of prize by selfishly taking the win.

I really hate when people do this.  This is just pathetic and selfish.  The point of a T1 tournament, and any other tournament is to win your way to the prize.  It is to be the best.  Other people are fighting for the same spots as well, so why do you think that bribing your opponent to let you win so you can knock someone out of the T8 who rightfully deserved their spot is fair?  I guess it is just me, but I personally feel that IDs, concessions, and the like should not be aloud.  I mean, I understand that you might be friends, but you are just ruining the game for someone else.  Stop whining that you didn't get the prize.  Please.  You should be playing at least partially for the love of the game.

The people who T8 are the ones who deserved to.  If you didn't top 8, then try again next time.   Don't be pissed that you didn't get a free round.  You had to play with the same obstacles your opponents had to play through.  They made it today.  You didn't.  You can't win every time.  I appreciate what Colby did here and back him 100%.

I love vintage pics. Thanks a lot for these results. Whenever there's a report with pics in the tournament forum I go directly there before anything else. I'm amazed everytime I see a Ravager in Vintage reports. Seriously, standard was so much fun when you could play that dude.

Simon has been playing the deck since the dawn of time and can pilot it very, very well.

@yespuhyren:  I'm pretty sure he is mad because his opponent could not make Top8, even with a win, while he could make Top8 on breakers if he won..I can understand his annoyance but at the same time I don't necessarily agree with it.  Sure, at a PTQ, I don't care if it's cheating, half the room is already trying to cheat one way or another to win and i'll give my last round opponent packs or whatever to scoop.  But at a casual event like this, I personally wouldn't do it.

i agree with you here, but it was me not colby  Wink that didnt opt to scoop for a bribe, as i didnt really know either of the people who were looking for the spot but people on the team knew simon i asked what they thought and they suggested that i go ahead and report the win so thats what i did, so you didnt get a freebie.

Yeah whatever. I don't wanna see any more discussion on this. This illegal practice has been discussed before many times over. We've established what happened, and that people have different opinions on whether or not it is acceptable behavior. I'm truly shocked  Rolling Eyes

So either this thread goes back on topic, or it's locked.

I thought this argument was over due to mods?

When there is over $500 in prize I don't call that a casual event. The only format I currently play is T1 and again when there are two pieces of power at stake I come to win. I didn't travel over two hours to scrub. Obviously I understand that it wasn't my day and if I had played better in the earlier 4 rounds I would not have been in that situation and had made T8 without any kind of split required. The point was I was in that situation. I personally feel and practice that when you have no shot going into the final round it is common courtesy to lay it down for your opponent. Its not like there were rating points at stake there was no reason to not lay down his cards except to take away my shot at making the trip worth while. Honestly, this move was low and selfish and I nor my team will ever help Erik or his team in another event again.

Im not trying to start an argument or continue another one I’m just trying to express my point of view when it comes to the situation and explain why I feel I was "screwed" out of a T8 spot.

@Colby: Even though I wanted you to win the Legacy match I still thought you were being a jerk by playing two matches at once. Its disrespectful to both players and as much as I think your a great guy I'm kinda happy that they both beat you. I mean seriously if my opponent decided it only took half the amount of energy and thought to beat me I would be kind of upset. On the other hand it takes some huge balls to play 2 matches at once when one of them is for power. Wink

Verbal Warnings to Largent, Yespuhyren, and MarkPharaoh for posting about that argument after Bram told them to stop.

Full Warning to TD for posting about it after Bram's second post.
