Dr. Tongue vs Luis Luis Wins
JeffTheFob vs Andrew JeffTheFob Wins

LotusHead vs Luis LotusHead wins.
The tourney organizers will put up lists. Mine was what I posted in the Vintage Improvement forum with -1 Leyline +1 In The Eye of Chaos SB.
Pics to come soon plus my report!

Austin and Junior frantically write their lists down.

Our meta. Some new faces to the format.

Luis vs Ryan Reynolds. It's neat seeing Ryan play, as he is the head judge at the Eudemonia events and many pre-releases.

Junior getting rolled by Ichorid. Junior's SB Jailers keep Ichorid at bay for a bit, bit if enough Contagions go on the stack, eventually they resolve.

SoulFeast's Stax (with Zuron Orb, Fastbond, Crucible tech) vs like 2 permanents.

Affinity vs Mono-Black Leyline of the Null Rod.dec

Aardshark's Catalin MindTwister managing at least a draw with Webster.

It's kinda hard to see, but Junior is at 1, Webster recently ripped a Duress of the top to pwn Junior's Berzerk that he just wished for, and Junior's FlameTongue Kavu sits helplessly in his hand, as he didn't fetch a Volcanic when he had the chance. (Web has Meloku + tokens in play, Dryad was 12/12 or so.). Junior was one step away from winning the match, but he scrubbed.

Jeff's Pithing Needles pwning the Bazaars.

Webster vs Austin. Doh! this was from Reno 2 years ago. Austin's games were over MUCH quicker than any of mine, so I don't have any of him playing in this tourney. (Webster won this match)

Aardshark vs Dr. Tongue. Dr. Tongue went land go for 5 or 6 turns while Aardshark ate Bolts from his Mana Crypt. At 1, Aardshark ate Fire.

Aardshark pwning LotusHead with ETW for say, 20 plus Time Walk.

SoulFeasted sucking up WeeBeats by Dr. Tongue.

Something with Culling the Weak and Phryxian Walkers vs something with Traumatize and Haunting Echoes.

Luis narrowly avoiding WeeBeats in top 8

JeffTheFob pwing Ichorid 4 times in 4 games as far as I can tell. How'd he do it?

My field vs Webster in Top 8 (or JeffTheFob, who knows)
My mini-report
Round 1: I forget playing ???
He wins the die roll, plays Underground Sea perhaps mox, go.
I have the option of wasting it or duressing him. I go for the Waste option.
He plays Tropical Island, brainstorms, go.
I duress him and he Forces it. First clue that I am in deep trouble.
He EOT Mysticals for Pact of Summoning (second clue), and Flashes me with slivers and I die.
Game 2: I side in 11 cards. My first grip of 7 has shop, accelleration, but no disruption. Ditto with my next 6. My last 5 has Shop Trinisphere, which resolves and I get to goldfish for the win.
Game 3: I mull to 6 and get Chalice for 2 out on my first mainphase (luckily, he didn't kill me on his first mainphase). He oxided my Black Lotus, instead of my Chalice for 2. Why? I don't know, but I get a trike on field at some point and that is that (I have REB backup)
This is my third time facing Flash while piloting Shop.dec. I lose game 1, and barely eek out wins game two and three. Playing against Flash is nerve-wracking as they can win with just one stupid spell. It took me 15 minutes to calm my nerves after that because I feel SO out of control against it. I just got lucky.
Round 2: Aardshark's buddy Andrew (I think) with Ichorid.
He stomps me both games.
Round 3: ??? with MonoBlack Leyline of the Null Rod.dec
Game 1: he gets Null Rod and Hippies (plural) to stick, and I die. Before I die, I Demonic Tutor for a SmokeStack, put it face down in front of me (I had no hand), shuffled, presented my deck. Tapped 4 mana to play my Smokest... uh, Shop. I grabbed a shop on accident. I suck and I lose.
Game 2: I get Spheres, Tangle Wires, Trike, Crucible, SmokeStacks, fun stuff.
Game 3: More of the same, if I recall. He had a Swamp/Lotus first turn, Duressed me and saw all my broken stuff (Shop, Sphere, Tinker, Crucible, Tutor, etc) and opted to V.Tutor, and play Yixid Jailor. I played my Shop, Sphere, and then land Tangle Wire, then more locks, etc. He apparently had Null Rod in his oppening hand, and getting beats out quickly (his tutored Factory and Jailor) would be the best course of action. Null Rod would have hurt more, but that's how we learn lessons.
Round 4: Aardshark
I get paired down (my 6 points to Aardsharks 4. I offer to let him conceed to me, to guarantee my spot in top 8, but he says we should play it out.
Game 1: I lock him down, Titan the field away, etc.
Game 2: He stomps me. See pic above.
Game 3: would have ended in a draw, but the field was even, he had 6 cards in hand, I had 3 cards in hand (no colored mana for Tinker, Tutor, etc). He graciously conceeded to me.
Round 5: JeffTheFob
we ID
Top 8: Webster
Game 1: He forces my first few lock piece (mainly spheres), but eventually, they stick, and a Welder, Bazaar and Memory Jar gets me into a winning position eventually.
Game 2: He mulls to 5 (which at least has a Force for my Sphere of Resistance), but I luckily topdecked a second Sphere of Resistance on my turn 1, so my Mox, Shop hand had became excellent. A few lucky wastes, a few more Spheres, Welder, etc and eventually Web was locked down by 4 Sphere's and a Trinisphere in play. I may have the details of these two games mixed up.
Whoot, I win!
Top 4: JeffTheFob
Game 1: He wins die roll, starts land mox mox Magus go.
I play something.
He plays another Magus then Lavamancer in the next few turns and I die.
Game 2: we fight it out, and Energy Flux hits the field, but I have 2 or 3 land out to play Triskellion, and it goes the distance (I may have REB'd something, who knows.)
Game 3: he has me constrained by Magus again, I have Heretic to chump his Mox Monkey, and he Ninja's out his Ninja, putting Magus in hand. This lets me play Ancestral Recall, maybe waste a land. I somehow get a Titan on the field, and he takes 14 to face (plus his own forces/fetches/Heretic Beats) and at 1 he dies to my Heretic pwning a Pithing Needle.
Games 2 and 3 were both very very very close and nerve wracking, and I didn't think I would be able to pull either off. JeffTheFob probably has better memory of these games than me.
Finals: Luis "pwner of all formats" Scott-Vargas
Game 1:
I win the die roll and get 1st turn Sphere of Resistance to stick
He plays land, mox, mox, Lotus go.
I play something.
He Tinkers for DSC and I die 2 turns later.
Game 2:
I get Chalice for 0 and 2 to stick fairly early. He rebuilds the field to play moxen, and I somehow re-establish board control. I honestly don't remember how. It might have been Lock Peices, it might have been Trike beats. I don't know. All I know is that my deck didn't crap out on my and I survived. It might be his game or game 3, but he Rack and Ruins my Sphere of Resistance and Crucible of the Void, tapping out, and I resolve some goodness (Tinker Titan? I forget)
Game 3:
Luis keeps a terrible hand (probably mulliganing), as he does little for the first few turns (Jet, go, that kind of stuff), and I eventually Stax him.
Honestly, I don't remember any details, but I DID get to REB his force on my Trike or something.
If anyone wants to fill in some details, please do so. I didn't expect to go the distance, and certainly did not expect to survive a top 8 filled with JeffTheFob, Webster and Luis Scott-Vargas, arguably the 3 top players in our meta.
Props: Everyone who attended, and even those who didn't
Anyone who played MWS with me in the last few weeks.
Those last two reports that had pics in them. A month after I did my Pimp your Thread primer, and we finally get results!
(If anyone needs to see the primer, a link is in my sig)
Austin and Junior for doing whatever it takes to get gas money to and from the tourney.
The bay area crew (at least 6 of em, I think) for driving about 2 hours to this event to support the new vintage scene.
Adventures for guaranteeing prize even at just 17 people.
Slops: I won a Beta Mox Ruby pwning the toughest top 8 I can imagine. You think I'm gonna hand out slops?
