Lets say both me and my opponent have Time Vaults out and untapped. On his turn, he taps his to take an extra turn. I let it resolve and then I activate mine. Who gets the next turn?

I haev a first turn Llanowar Elf. He casts Ancestral, a slightly stronger card from the same set.

Though it is an old ruling, the following appears under the Gatherer page for Time Vault:

Quote
10/4/2004 If multiple "extra turn" effects resolve in the same turn, take them in the reverse of the order that the effects resolved.

So in other words, you would take an "extra" turn, then he would take an "extra" one, and then it would proceed back to your original turn. So, no actual turns were gained by anyone.

Not sure if that ruling has changed since, but I don't really see a reason why it would have.

I thought it worked like that, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to double check. Thanks

Quote from: Comprehensive Rules
300.6. Some effects can give a player extra turns. They do this by adding the turns directly after the current turn. If a player gets multiple extra turns or if multiple players get extra turns during a single turn, the extra turns are added one at a time. The most recently created turn will be taken first.

So, as stated above, the most recently created turn (yours) would be taken first.

Another Time Vault question:

How does the new wording interact with Mindslaver?

Quote
Time Vault comes into play tapped.
Time Vault doesn't untap during your untap step.
If you would begin your turn while Time Vault is tapped, you may skip that turn instead. If you do, untap Time Vault.
Tap: Take an extra turn after this one.

Player A has Mindslaver.
Player B has a tappedTime Vault.
Player A activates Mindslaver, passes the turn.
Time Vault triggers.

My guess is that Player B makes the choice regarding Time Vault, because the turn that Player A controls hasn't actually started yet. If they decide to untap it, then the turn is skipped. When Player B gets their next turn (whether a normal turn or through activating Time Vault, or any other means), Player A controls it, because it is B's "next turn" since Mindslaver was activated.

That all makes sense to me, but it's a crazy enough interact that I figure I should get a second opinion on the matter.

i ran into that last weekend.  He didnt have the mana for Mindslaver and I killed him the following turn, but it seemed awfully relevant.  My guess is that Player A (controls Mindslaver) would decides about the Time Vault, actually.

I think this was answered by SCG's Ask the Judge recently, and it's Player B's choice, because his turn hasn't started yet. That said, because the turn hasn't started yet, Mindslaver's "next turn" hasn't been controlled yet either i.e. Time Vault doesn't let you avoid Mindslaver.

The player who controls the time vault chooses whether or not to untap it.  Since the turn hasn't actually begun if it does get skipped, the mindslaver player will get to control whatever the next turn the player takes is.

Also, please refrain from chiming in with "My guess" answers.  Even when correct they create extra unnecessary traffic since someone else will still need to provide confirmation.

Let me be clear: I know the answer because I've read it recently in a rules Q&A forum elsewhere. The "I think" refers to me not being 100% on which Q&A forum it was and too busy to sift through them until I find which one it was.
