Dreamstone Hedron
6
Artifact
Tap: Add 3 colorless mana to your mana pool.
3, Tap, sacrifice Dreamstone Hedron: Draw three cards.

Will this card act as a mini Memory Jar?
Is the cost to activate too high?

I personally like this card but think it might be too balanced for Vintage. It seems too slow for Stax and not powerful enough as a Tinker target. However, it is an artifact that draws three cards! Thoughts?

I dont think its activation cost is to high, but its CC is a little much, is it compatible to other 6cc artifacts like Trike thats the question I think... but any artifact draw is good draw IMO

Interesting with Voltaic Key though.

You can either Generate a lot of mana with Key or you you can tap this guy for 3 mana.  Untap for 1 and then draw for only 1 more mana.

Seems compatible in MUD builds that run Metalworker.  I would use this card alongside Memory Jar to help find Staff of Domination faster.

Insanely strong with Goblin Welder, I would definately consider playing this card but doubt if it is in fact powerful enough to see serious play in Vintage.

Seems like something to do with Drain mana.

Costs too much for Drain mana to abuse. Workshop mana cannot pay its activation cost. You would have to build a deck around this card or somehow make it synergetic in my opinion.

If you want to draw 3 cards use Concentrate.  There is nothing even decent about paying 9 to draw 3 card.  The only way this guy might be good is if he is Welded in.
I do not think even Tinkering for him his acceptable (unless of course you have Welder in play for Recursion.)

The big question is why play this instead of Mindslaver?

Really? There aren't better things to do in Vintage with 9 mana than draw 3 cards? If you're going balls out with something like Metalworker at least run Tower of Fortunes and draw cards each turn. :/

Well, with MUD(read: Metalworker) you don't have to spend 9 right away.  6cc is feasible, though that's not staying much else.  As for the Tower of Fortunes reference.....yuck.  It's better to have a higher cc and lower activation cost because at least you can use Workshops to get it in play.

This isn't really worth welding in.  This isn't worth Draining into.  Only MUD should even consider this card, and it better be good in testing because it seems mediocre to me.

If this had been a Thran Dynamo with ability #2 on it, I would have been happy.

The easiest way to get this thing in the Yard is to use Bazaar and then Weld it in.  But if you have Bazaar and Welder online, would you really need this thing?

Possessed Portal is way better than this thing if you want a piece to bazaar -> weld in.

Curious, do any MUD decks run Mindslaver?  Just curious about the idea now that you mention it.

this card is horrible.  its probably fine in a limited deck with the only rise of eldrazi and thats about it.  absolutely pathetic, no chance of getting out of limited or block play.

That's a pretty bold assertion considering that RoE has been expressly stated to be a much slower set, a standalone draft set, and that the Annihilator mechanic very heavily favors whoever can land their fatty first.

The common guy is going to eat three permanents every swing (two sacrificed, then a blocker). If you're losing lands or spawn, it becomes that much harder to cast your own dude, be it for the sake of trading or racing.
