Totally awesome article!
I've had these discussions for so long...
I wholeheartedly agree: there is something in EVERY format you can learn from.

"No really, vintage is sweet" is an old topic - but one I certainly have yet to tire of. I like this approach. It's honest, unapologetic, not 100% gushing over the format, but still breaks down barriers and makes it appealing.
It occurs to me that we're kind of at a high point right now for Vintage writing. There are FOUR writers on SCG right now that specialize in Eternal with a healthy helping of Vintage - and if I do say so myself, we're all pretty damn good.
Menendian is not only writing elsewhere (expanding premium vintage content to beyond SCG), but selling essentially novel-length articles on highly technical Vintage topics. Love it or hate it, cash-for-vintage articles is just not something that could have happened years ago.
Outside of these higher-profile sites, I've been introduced over the past few months to any number of blogs and regional websites were people have contributed all kinds of great content. I've heard recent complaints about Vintage being in trouble, or at a low point right now - but in terms of Vintage writing, nothing could be further than the truth. I can only hope that this trend continues into the future!
Thanks again Matt, for another great article!

Thanks Andy. You and DeMars have been knocking it out of the park lately. You're right, we're all getting spoiled, in a good way.

Great article.
I posted the link on some other forums, and there was a glaring omission immediately discovered:
Price.
Getting into vintage really isn't that expensive with the use of proxies, but some people just don't get it.
I already have people retaliating with (quote) "Uh, no. "If you use fake cards it's cheap!!!" isn't a valid argument." (/quote).
I think the community needs to address this somehow. I mean, I LOVE playing with my power, but people don't see to understand that you don't need it to play.
I really wish that the format could just shake this stigma for good.

Another great article.
I must agree, however, that a discussion of cost (or lack thereof) should have been included.
I also agree with Andy that I think we are starting to build toward a second golden age of Vintage, though we're not quite there yet.
