Great event! Awesome turnout! And the name of the deck I designed is "BLACK MAGIC". As my list said haha. Thanks for running a sweet event Shawn I will look forward to more sick events in the future!

It's a control deck that rus empty to beat creatures, jace, and shops (paired up with other hate). So I would call it a control deck that runs a storm card to win. Never the less thanks or a great event!

It was great to see so many new faces. I guess that GenCon badge really helped push attendance to 39. It was even better to see you fellow TSC members in action, especially Duffy! Speaking of Dark Times, Brie it was nice to get to play you one last time before you're off to bigger and better things. We'll all miss you and JP. Congrats to the top eight and everyone who did well in their first Vintage tournament. I hope to see all you newcomers at future Council events. Thanks to Brandon and Shawn for running these and for the awesome door prize.

I had a good time yesterday. The turnout was especially impressive, almost four times the current population of Centralia, PA!

(We drove through what's left of Centralia on the way up, hence the semi-obscure reference.)

Predicting a heavy Shop meta, I chose to pilot Mr. Elias' most-recent Mykie Noble Fish deck. I finished 4-2, good for 11th place. I defeated Oath, a Noble Fish mirror, Shops, and Dredge. I lost to Gush Tendrils and Landstill. Playing six different decks in the swiss was pretty nice. Despite Shops taking a lot of spots in recent Top 8's, the meta does appear to be fairly diverse.

Props:

Dave Reitnauer coming out of retirement. What a cutie!
Pleasant opponents every round.
Great food and even better beer at the Lube.
Epic Cards Against Humanity side event, even though my "Auschwitz: The Musical" play somehow lost! Also, those were some of the best haikus I've ever seen. Most of the time we take that card as an opportunity to throw away our shit cards.

Slops:

Miscut Ultra-Pro sleeves.
Lots of mulliganing.
Weak-ass "hurricane simulator" across from the store. It maxed out at around 80 mph. That's a weak Category 1 IIRC.
No food place open in the mall yet again.
Slow service at The Lube.
No floats or milkshakes at the combination A&W / Long John Silvers.

Definitely a great event.  I'd attribute some of the surge in attendance to vintage's increasing popularity as of late.  I saw a number of new faces who said it was either their first event or first Bloomsburg event.  A lot of workshops around, but a rather healthy and diverse metagame overall.

Also, my decklist is missing 3x Spell Snare in the main deck.

Potucek-- be honest. Did you run those 4 tarns because (a) those are the only blue fetches you own? Or (b) so that you could bluff being on Landstill to get your opponent to misplay when you say "Tarn, go" on the play?

edit: Oh, I see the mountain in there now. Nevermind Smile

I got 10th and didnt make top 8 but this was a pretty awesome event foor Bloomsburg. I think the Gencon badges were a good incentive to get new players to give Vintae a try and I think most of the newcomers had a good time.  As usual Shawn does a good job with these.  Congrats to Josh for taking it down.

He was actually originally playing 4 misty, 2 delta and a strand. He shipped me the list and was like check it out I'm playing a mountain. I asked him where his scalding tarns were, as he had no way to search for a basic mountain. Sometimes he's just silly.
