Mark picked up some Force of Wills yesterday and will add them into the prize pool if we hit enough entrants. Not a bad addition...

I will be at this and this will be my last event in the North East for what will probably be a very long time (as I am moving to Louisiana the next week).
I hope to see some of our "regulars" at this for one last hurrah, but I am sure this will be a small event.

Matt, I didn't know you were moving. Congrats on it, and good luck. Let's talk a bit on Saturday.

I've never seen Dredge tear through people like it did today.
We had 23 players and a Dredge mirror in the finals, with Vinnie Forino taking down Grant Selzer Richman in a close set. I played Shops and was beaten by Dredge twice in three.

I was actually pretty shocked by the field. 2 Mirror's in the swiss plus the finals wasn't exactly what I prepared for. It seems pretty strong, i'll have to fix my board a whole lot for gencon.

I have to agree with you, it was like taking candy from a baby - the field was unprepared for Dredge, and even when there was hate I had more than enough answers for it. Dredge has truly become the 800-pound Gorilla in the room and if people do not bring 8 pieces of hate with them we can easily have Dredge as a repeat winner at Worlds this year. FACT: Dredge has won the last 3 major events in Vintage and is primed to take the forth strait considering people think that Lightning Bolt is a cure all for the meta. If you do not consider Dredge to be the best deck in Vintage then you are obviously looking through shaded lenses. My list was so generic and uninspired, it is not worth posting - it is an amalgamation of BOM and Cagebreaker.

I played the 800-pound gorilla in Bloom on the 28th as well. I was able to munch brains to a t8 finish. I had some matches where they were not ready to see a Bazaar hit the table. Then I had others where they swapped 9 or more cards. I agree with how good Dredge is that it could repeat at Gen-watch your cards-Con as a two in a row champ.
PROPS to v4ino for the "W".

Not to get into a debate, but interesting to point out since it was brought up by the victor of this tourney:
When gush dominated, the big blue ban happened.
When flame/vault was big, vault got erratad
When trini/shop dominated, trini got axed
Now there is a deck that requires 8+ cards of dedicated hate to ATTEMPT to beat, that is very uninteractive, and retardedly fast...AND has free/cheap (misstep, claim, darkblast, chain) answers to ANY hate, while being able to EASILY run mana without diluting the deck. Yet after 3 consecutive top vintage wins and a 4th pending (with gobloads of winnings and T8s in lesser tourneys) nothing happens from the WotC hammer.
Just saying.

Because Dredge is beatable. You don't feel hopeless going into game 2/3 against Dredge. For example, the reason that Delver wasn't banned in standard was because results showed that it won a few opens in a row but was very easily beatable by the right deck that was prepared for the meta. Every time a deck does well we can't just go to WoTC and ask for a ban because we're too uncreative to deal with it ourselves.

Dredge has been quite the topic in the last year, and it's good that it's rearing its head before GenCon, lest people forget it exists. Dredge can be beaten, but you have to be ready for it. You won't beat Dredge by accident, you have to be dedicated to the idea of beating Dredge. You have to run enough hate to beat it, if you don't you're going to be in the loser's bracket. People looking to get away with less than eight pieces are going to learn the hard way...
