Instant, 1 mana, and costs less life than Dismember at the cost of being black mana not colorless. Takes out almost all dudes used in Vintage including the dreaded Lodestone. Considerable?

Where did you find all those because they don't look real at all? They're even drawn by the might MOCK.

It apparently was seen in Magic 2015 DOTP walkthrough. There isn't a proper picture of it out there, so somebody did a mockup as best they could from the picture in the video.

It's a good card, but I don't believe it's better than Dismember. It gives -3/-3 instead of -5/-5, costs 1 fewer life, requires black mana and doesn't give you the option of paying black instead of taking 2 damage. I think I'll pass.

It could make your mana base better if red weren't so needed to combat shops.  That being said, I do like how it can buy you a turn vs Blightsteel.  Decent addition to BUG fish.

I think that I dismissed this card too quickly because I was thinking about it in comparison to Disfigure. The fact that you can have it take out a Golem is what I think makes this a big deal card, though I'm not sure if the flexibility of Dismember won't just outclass it.

An additional dismember...but do you really want to play 4 copies of dismember?

What are the creatures that Dismember kills that Ulcerate doesn't? There are surprisingly few -- Forgemaster and Tarmogoyf are the only ones off the top of my head.

Still, Dismember dodges Chalice@1, Mental Misstep, and costs colorless mana -- more than worth the 1 life point.

Auriok Salvagers, Karn, Batterskull, Triskelion... both Tezzerets who animate artifacts into 5/5s.

Against critters with Lifelink such as Griselbrand and Wurmcoil Engine, -5/-5 can also be much more relevant.

Ghastly Demise suffers the same problems. It's a good card but in Vintage, it mainly falls down to playing around Misstep and Chalice.

I think Vendetta is a better comparison than Ghastly Demise personally.

Ulcerate is an interesting card. I think it's better in a format like Legacy where people are playing Disfigure, though I don't think -3/-3 rather than -2/-2 is worth the 3 life. Dismember seems better in almost every way than Ulcerate when you think about 3 life for -3/-3 or 4 life (at most) for -5/-5. In Vintage I think Ulcerate will see very little play if any because of Dismember and the relevance of the extra -2/-2 that -5/-5 provides. Ulcerate only costing life when it resolves adds a wrinkle to the equation, but is not relevant enough to tip the scales. I have seen very few decks playing 4 Dismember and I don't think those decks are really looking for numbers 5-8 currently.
