 Well. It certainly has flavor. Might kill Jace / Predator / DRS for 1 less than a Trike (and 3 more than a Revoker) and can do it through a Null Rod / Stony. Interesting with a Welder, as are many things. Is this the only way shops can produce non combat damage with a Null Rod out? The colored mana is an interesting perk. |

Triskelion seems much better than it, and it only costs 1 more mana. The fact that it taps for mana is actually kinda worthless, and makes the card cost more mana. It would have been better if it was a 3cc artifact that did 3 damage to a target when it came into play, stayed in play, and had no other abilities.
It also would have perked my interest if it cost 4 mana.

This thing is a bit of a tough sell. The comparison to Triskelion is fair. For  more you get the ability to attack with a 4/4 and cash in those counters for damage whenever you see fit and you can split those up any way you want rather than just to a single target. The mana producing is marginal when you consider that you already had 5 mana to play this thing in the first place. The only thing keeping me from saying "never" on this card is the fact that the damage portion ignores Null Rod and Stony Silence. Maybe if null rod/stony silence aggro became a huge part of the metagame and you were playing some sort of welder deck and you squint really hard MAYBE I could see it. |

Costs too much for what it does. If this was 2 colorless, or even 3 colorless, then you might have something, but 5 mana is far too much when you could just be casting Karn or Triskelion or something.

It's not clear to me how good this is or isn't in something with Dack + Welder. If you're cheating it into play, both the mana (for casting non-artifact spells and countermagic, since Welding it in probably cost you a Mox) and the damage can matter.
