I've always thought Rector-Trix could be really good in T1. I know that there's a guy who plays it at NG with some success, and a really rogue version with Lich did well at my tournament on Saturday. This is my first-stab decklist.
2 Phyrexian Tower 4 Polluted Delta 2 City of Brass 2 Scrubland 2 Tundra 4 Underground Sea 1 Mana Vault 1 Sol Ring 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Jet 4 Dark Ritual 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Emerald 1 Enlightened Tutor 4 Academy Rector 1 Necropotence 2 Diabolic Intent 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Yawgmoth's Bargain 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Yawgmoth's Will 4 Duress 1 Impulse 4 Force of Will 1 Misdirection 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Time Walk 1 Ancestral Recall 4 Illusions of Grandeur 3 Donate

Wicketsnatcher's deck (the one that did well Saturday) had some serious tech. The coolest was The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale. It kills rectors and slows opposing creature decks.

It's a land drop that doesn't produce mana. I'll stick to my Towers and rely on Illusions and Donate to beat aggro.

Although Tirx (not Trix, but a cousin also known as TurboSpaz) did not kill with Illusions+Donate, it was similar in spirit (and decklist) and was efficient for what it wanted to do. I'll see if I can get Tir to drop us a line, here

Yeah, just play Tirx. It's infinitely more stylish than the tired Illusions/Donate bit. On the chance that you still want to play with the scary bunny, though, a couple comments:
1) wtf @ 1 Impulse. 2) I hate phyrexian towers. Colorless mana? In T1?
That gives you three slots. One more Intent is a given (remember that the sacrifice a creature is a cost, so can't be countered), then I'd throw in at least one more City of Brass. Also, I'd personally play with a Timetwister in a build like this, you have a _ton_ of fast mana and redundant combo parts. Give it a try.
So if you keep at it, good luck, though once you kill someone with Denying Winds it's hard to go back to plain old Trix ; )

Cooberp - You should consider Cabal Therapy in Rector based Trix. I have seen it used with a good deal of success in some local builds. It can serve different roles in the deck effectively.

Akuma, nice idea, i dont know why i didnt think of that
I think a pair of Therapys, along with 2-3 Diabolic Intent, would make saccing the Rector much easier. My only problem with the deck is this: Its not quite as fast as Academy and not quite as consistent as Dragon or Turboland. Im not saying its bad by any stretch, just that im unsure of its place among T1 combo.

Would Read the Runes work as a Rector killer? At least it's pitchable to FoW, and can potentially dig for multiple cards pre-Rector if need be.

FeverDog I think you miss a key point in Trix, it completely hoses aggro as any combo should do, yet it still stands a good chance agaisnt control. Im really keen on the cabal therapy tech, that was a good idea. Edit: By the way does anyone else think 2-3 Tainted Pacts could find their home in this deck.

cabal therapy is really good. a friend of mine has been running a similar deck for the past few weeks. i'll try to get a list off him, but this is what i remember:
4 duress 4 cabal therapy 1 abeyance 4 brainstorm 2 read the runes 4 academy rector 1 bargain 3-4 illusions 1-3 donates 6 fetchlands 1 tower and then staples like demonic tutor and stuff.
it seemed solid and with 4 duress and 4 therapy plus the abeyance, it's control matchup looks pretty good.

I'd like to preach the gospel of Mox Diamond. It's an awesome card teamed up with Necro/Bargain if you're looking for a quick 1 turn kill and are short a specific colored mana (for me, usually blue).
I think that Reads the Runes could be pretty strong, especially with Rectors and Dark Rits. If you do choose to put in another "sac" spell (i.e. Cabal Therapy, Read the Runes) I would suggest cutting a Tower. I think that they can be pretty good, but that's a LOT of ways to kill your Rector (and I don't think you need that many). The Diabolic Intent in particlar is an awesome choice, but my fear with that is you'll be stuck without a creature when you draw it up (because of so many ways to sac the Rector).
As far as the manabase goes, unless you are planning to sideboard in green and red, I would lose the 2 City of Brass for another Scrub and Tundra. I think the fetchlands will smooth out your manabase enough so that you don't need to take unecessary pain.

(by the by, I originally ran Necro and Bargain in my deck, but ended up cutting Necro because it required much different play than the Bargain, and I could get stuck with it. A lot.)

Here's the current decklist: http://www.themanadrain.com/cgi-bin....;t=3104Cards under consideration to be cut from the main deck are currently Impulse and City of Solitude. To fill one of these slots, Balance is being toyed around with. The Tabernacle is AWESOME - even in a cometitive, fully powered T1 enviornment.

Nah, Donating his Tabernacle gets him style points! Especially after he just Donated you an untapped Sapphire. Especially after he Donated the Sapphire right after the Pearl. Jarad is rad.
