Ok, it's now official, the SoCal T1 crew is holding a T1 tournement at the Wizards of the Coast store in the Westminster Mall, this sunday, the 11th, at 1:00.  It'll be a cash tournement, $5 entry fee with a 66/33 split for first and second place.  Most likely 3 or 4 rounds of Swiss.

If you at all plan on attending, please contact me either by using the personal messages on these boards or by e-mailing me at PattheBold@aol.com

Hope to see you all there.

Terribly sorry, but I know that noboby ever checks this damned mill.  I wish there were a way for me to actually get people to read it without pissing you off...

There definetly is times where there is actually MORE people in the Reports/Announcements forums. Low and behold people saw it and posted!

Such a wonderful concept when things work, huh?

This forum was created because Vintage was getting flooded with reports and announcement posts. This caused reports, announcements, strategy, and deck critiques to be lost in the shuffle by falling further to the bottom of the list.

This site has gotten larger than BDominia.com and I need to be more strict on organizational rules than Rakso was there because of the sheer volume.

In other words, I dont make rules so you can break them. I make them so my job (one that I pay to do, mind you) is easier. Any other comments you may have on this you can address me with via PM, please.

Take the 5 to the 405 North Exit GoldenWest heading South and the mall is on the right hand side.  The Wizards store is on the first floor in the middle of the mall.

We ended up with 8 players even without 5 or 6 that said they would come.  We played three rounds of swiss with a Parfait Grow split in the finals.  It was a great start that I think we will be able to build on.  Hopefully more people can make it next Sunday.

Well, we had 8 people for last weekend's T1 tournement at Wizards of the Coast, and we're hoping to have more for this weekend.  Once again, it will be a T1 tournement, held at Wizards of the Coast in the Westminster Mall, and be held at 1:00 pm.  This time, I'm going to pose a question to all interested parties.

For this sunday, we seem to have 3 options in terms of allowing/disallowing proxies.

1. No Proxies, no questions.
2. Allow each person 2 proxies per deck.
3. Allow each person an unlimited number of proxies per deck, but charge them money to do so (most likely fee would be 50¢ per non-Power Nine proxy, $1 for each power nine proxy, and add those into the prize pool).

If we do allow proxies, they will have to be in colored backed sleeves (i.e. non see through), and be CLEARLY marked as to what the card is.  The player MUST be able to QUOTE THE CURRENT ORACLE TEXT.

Any and all people who are planning on attending should reply to this e-mail with your choice.  If no vote gets more than %50, then we'll have a run-off between the top 2.

Another poll- What should we set the entry fee/prize money at, $5 or $3?

Please, PLEASE, RSVP/respond to these polls, as it will greatly affect the gameplay.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please contact me at PattheBold@aol.com

Hope to see you at the tournement

Buying proxies is totally gay.  It reinforces the whole "t1 is all about $" thing.  I'm for allowing a couple (or even a couple more than that).  $3 entry fee works fine for me, since I'm playing for fun more than for profit.  A lower entry fee makes the tourney more accessible to more players (unlike that $20 mox tourney a few weeks ago that bombed).  The only reason to have a higher entry fee and prizes is if you're trying to get the serious players to come from farther away to play (and that plan hasn't been working well around here lately).

I would have liked to go, but my parents surprised me by flying 1500 miles out here to visit with me, so I spent the day at Sea World with my family.  I won't have anything going on this Sunday, I'll do my best to be there.

Well, personally, I prefer no-proxy tournaments, simply because I'm working on my rating, and you can't do that at an unsanctioned tournament.  However, I have no problem with allowing proxies other than that.  Power is powerful, but it's generally over-rated.  It certainly doesn't make up for play skill, and a good knowledge of T1.  Usually, the people proxying are T2 players trying to get into the format, and they're easy to beat anyway.
