hello all

in november, in italy, will be the ISS  VIntage...and that is the good thing...

the bad thing is that it is a direct elimination tournament without separation by rating ( no amatorial and pro division by ranking...   )

i thought to build my evergreen Keeper deck (... a traditional listed one, without any signature card, except for the vanilla counterspell as 61-card  )

but...

how well it perform in a so mixed and scrub-filled metagame ( if i can tell about...  "metagame" )

the previous ISS were won by an Aggro red based deck with blu splash for the power and the serendib... it wins against a keeperish deck similar to the one construced by FInkel for the 2000 invitational.

i'm not sure what is the metagame, but i can tell that 40% will be casual-badassembled-unusual decks, 35% monocolored aggro or control, 15% combo, 10% well known-wellplayed-wellassembled deck...

what do you suggest???

( the tournament seems very interesting... beta BigBlue for the winner, betaBigBlue -1 for the second, beta BigBlue -2 for the third!!!!  ops... 250+ enemies!!!!  ahahaahhahh!!!    )

thanx in advance

Keeper sounds pretty good, as long as you get some practice and remember to bring the right sideboard cards for the monocolored matchups.

Keeper might be good as JP said, I might go for one with a transformational sideboard, ala German Keeper.

On a more radical idea, and this might sound like I am tooting my own horn, but I would try D.E.Trix.  It works really well against control and combo, pretty much rolls over aggro whether it's badly or well assembled, pretty much the only decks that give it a really hard time are monoB and monoU.  Also, It is a lot easier to play than Keeper.  So even though you will still need to practice, it will take less time to master.

If you choose to, the deck is listed in the monoU Trix primer, and you can IM me for help with it.

thanx for the hints...

when i play combo i usually ply academy or panderburst and they perform well ( not always of course.... )but, for now, i'm trying the Budde Trix Version too and it seems pretty solid and good against all except the boring MonoU and the nasty Mono B.

the combo keeper version is very good if i had to perform in an Aggro-tnt-dominated field... but i haven't tried it enough to judge the pros and the loss...

61 cards?

If you fear aggro AND combo, why not have wishable Teferi's response and/or Misdirection?

Also, for better Moat plays I might go with a stronger white element by cutting a Volcanic for a Tundra.

@zherbus;  ies... i play with 61 cards... but of course, the last addition is the Cunning-one... usually i don't see any difference between 61 and 60 cards....  i think about the 2 suggestion that you refer to, but the question is: due to the fact that i play only 1 bluewish, must i consider altering ALL/NEARAll my side to optimize and justify his presence, or i can really be satisfied if i can "tutor" some good stuff without altering or LOWERING the power of the side???

adding Mis-D cutting Piroclasm??? uhm... good against combo and monocolored deck... but i lose a great card against "theHOrdDE" Decks     ... i don't know... but i think that i definitely add a MisD ...

i see a lot of tentative sideboard... Allay, ShatteringPulse, more Sword, more Disenchat effects, Response,Edicts  and so on...

 but...

if i face a great aggro deck  (that can easily win spinning around my abyss or my little swords...)or a great combo deck ( with his speed and his Artifact Army... )  how can i beat them without the PowdeKeg Reset? ( unfortunatly... they aren't wishable.... )

Or...

against a good sui/sligh/stompy deck... nor if i BeB/Swords its creature /spell  during the game one,  i can hope to defeat it without 2 Cop Red,Kegs and the lovely Piroclasm... ( and another one they aren't wishable...)

same words for Aura Fracture, Glasses and MOAT ( Ebony Charm and MOat are game over for all the aggro that i faced until now!!!  )

so in the end...
analyzing my card choice...
how can improve the side without being too "wish" dipendent but using it too?

thanx in advance
