I'd personally say allow proxies since the lotus that I'm missing would cost more than it would to fly to NY and back.

It seems to me as Abra Volta has found the appropriate compromise: 5 proxies of ANY card allowed.

I am all for a diverse playing field, but I'll be honest. I don't want someone who played a fully proxied Keeper to win this tournament. That to me makes absolutely no sense. After all, if the big tournaments are going to allow proxies, what is the point of actually OWNING the damn cards!?

That is where the compromise comes into play. Yes, you can play Keeper, but not if you don't own ANY of the cards. Sure, if you own 3/4 of the cards required, then go for it. However it does not seem fair that someone who owns a pimped-out Keeper might lose to an ass hand, and someone who has a proxied Keeper goes all the way on god draws. Seriously, imagine playing your pimped-out Keeper deck in a mirror against someone who is proxying ALL their power, and then losing because they get some broken-ass draw. That would seem ridiculously unfair.

Again, I've seen some players earn their power by fighting through powered environments, so I think it is fair that we allow proxies, but not an amount that would be unfair to those who have a legitimate collection of power that they've busted their ass for.

I for one will definitely not even consider going without proxies because as of yet I only have 3 peices of power when my deck runs 7+library I know how to play the deck very well because of proxying at Gamemaster and local tourneys, however there is no way in hell I can scrounge up enough to buy the rest of them.  I am sure there are plenty of people in my boat, not only a bunch of scrubs w/T2 decks plus it could give some interested players a chance to try their hand at T1 without coughing up thousands.  If you guys with full power are that good then prove it, beat us cheap bastards.

Quote (Radjammin @ Nov. 26 2002,10:46)I think you have some possession issues. You would only play with your own Ancestral Recall?  Well maybe if you draft you should bring extra land to draft with.  You wouldn’t want to use the store’s land, it doesn’t belong to you.
Radjammin, please don't ever quote me again.  You took out parts of it, then made fun of me.  I specifically said:

Quote
Quote I don't mind borrowing rares and other small cards from friends, but I have never asked my friend to loan me his power when I was playing and he was working.

And I don't understand if you're trying to make fun of me with the rest of your post or what.  It doesn't seem to relate to what I said at all.

Quote
Quote But if you want to sit in a corner with your other 2 Grand buddies, and circle jerk each other, feel free.  That’s just not me.

What do you even mean by this??  My only guess is you are sayng "2 Grand buddies" as in people with all the power nine, but I said I only own 3 different pieces of power, so I am confused.

So please, don't ever quote me again, because you obviously didn't even read what I wrote.

I don't mean to be offensive, but Hulk and Rad, can you take it to PM's please. This thread is for deciding whether or not to allow proxies for the tournament.

Thanks.

We now return you to your regular scheduled programming...

If Zherbus wants to step in and put an end to this debate, he's certainly welcome to. I haven't really heard anything from him on the subject yet though.

I think what Piggy said pretty much sums it up for the majority of the unpowered people also.

I think a "Proxy any 5" rule would also be an effective compromise. Either way, I think we should allow some sort of proxying.

Time for a new poll.

I really like this "Proxy Any 5" idea. Comments, anyone?
