Hi !
This sunday CARTA MAGICA (Montreal QC) organizes its monthly TYPE I tournament. Thanks to many players from THEMANADRAIN.com, the level is growing each month. The last tournament was a success and about 75 players showed-up for the lotus. I hope you guys from quebec will come this weekend again and all guys fron ontario.

Just to be sure there's no confusion, first prize this time is not a Lotus. The winner gets 150$ (cash, canadian money). Entry fee is 10$. Depending on the attendance, the rest of the top 8 (or just top 4 if there's not enough) gets store credit for singles. Before last month, we had about 40-50 people per month for the last 4 months. Last month got 73, but it was for a Lotus. Expect somewhere between 30 and 50 people for this time, with 2/5 of the field probably fully powered. For more information, go to Carta Magica's website |

Hey that's pretty bad luc. So all the great playtesting we made saturday night was in vein. By the way who wins ? and who perfom well in the quebec peoples that got there. ??

From what I've heard, 3 Quebec players out of 5 made top 8 : Maxime, Mig-Hells and your personal favorite, Yannick "Palinchron" Veilleux. Maxime (BBS) faced Mig-Hells (TnT) and defeated him 2-1. Then Maxime lost to The Phoenix. I've heard Veilleux lost in the quarterfinals and that Tom Bombadil and Ouimet made top 8 too. I don't know who won.

Well it finally happened... I finally won my first tourney at Carta Magica in Montreal. I have to admit that I am enjoying every minute of it! I was playing this really amazing deck for the 3rd tournament in a row: TnT.

During the course of 6 rounds, I went 4-1-1, with all of my wins coming in the last 4 rounds.
In the quarter-final, I a blue-black deck (Please forgive me for forgeting your name )
In the semi-final, I faced Guillaume who was playing a Keeper deck.
And finally, I faced The Phoenix (Andrew) in the finals which went to 3 games.
It was really another awesome tournament where all players seemed to enjoy themselves!
I can't wait for next month.
To all ManaDrainers, I really enjoyed playing against you guys, and I hope that we can playtest some decks in the near future.

I mean, you drew 2 moxes, Mindtwist, FoW and then Yawgmoth's Will!

Too bad me and Lam Phan were nowhere to be found, urm, uh, at the JSS in Oshawa.
We at least had some good T1 games there, sporting out Keeper, TnT, and Gro.

On a sour note, the judge fucked up my results and potentially botched the top 8 standings. My tie-breakers were completely inaccurate; I was quite pissed off. Oh well, accidents happen. At least I got a refund.

Congratulation Cancerman ! I'm Guillaume, you beat me in semi-final. I wasn't prepared to play vs a TNT . Mishra's Workshop is to good when you have the mox in your first hand.
First game :
-Cancerman win the dice match.
-Cancerman made a mulligan for 6 cards.
-Cancerman beggin with Workshop, green mox and Sushi
-I make a Force of Will removing a Fact or Fiction...
-At my turn a made a wasteland on Workshop
-At his turn, Cancerman played a fetchland for Taiga and played a Survival of the Fittest. (Damn !)
-At my turn I played a fetchland for Vocanic Island
-At his turn he played a land, discard Anger for Squee, discard Squee for Goblin Welder, tap Welder, sacrfice the mox and put sushi into play for the game...
Second Game :
-I played an Underground Sea.
-At his turn he played Mishra's Workshop, Mox Jet and Juggernault. (No Force of Will, I was realy in...)
-At my turn I played an Island.
-At his turn he played a Wasteland on my Underground Sea (Ahhh!!!), he attack me for 5 and he played a Goblin Welder.
-At my turn I draw a diabolic Edict...It was to late...Juggernault killed me...
Next tounament I'l be prepared to affront TNT, be sure

Thank you very much for all of your kind words!
I really enjoyed all the match-ups! All you ''Manadrainers'' that were there are really fun to play againsts!
I would also like to offer my apologizes to some of my opponents who were beaten up slightly by Squee. No hard feelings I hope? And yes, I know that I'm not supposed to cast Squee, but under certain circonstances, he was helpful and he put some FUN in the game for my opponents and spectator.
I really hope to see you guys next month in Montreal!
