Feb 23, March 2, and March 8 are the only days I could -possibly- make it, and March 8th is probably a no go.  So damnit, people vote for the 23rd or 2nd.

Well, I should be able to make it on any of those dates, as I should have my license by then. As long as the date is known enough in advance, I wouldn't have problems with work, either.

If it is the Febuary 22nd/23rd weekend, I will definitly be a no-show, because I will be at Grand Prix Boston.  Everyone vote for March 8.     Thanks

as much as that seems like something that would appeal to me of all people...i think the people who go to the grand prix would like to stay in the limited mindset all weekend...myself included...even if i get knocked out of the main event early i'm gonna wanna draft all weekend...any in agreement?

If it's at the Grand Prix then I definatly won't be going but I should be ok for any of the dates in Syracuse.

There was already a thread about where it should be held, the majority voted on upstate NY.

Whatever, it's pointless to have it the same weekend as GP Boston and not have it @ GP Boston.  I tried. I even email'd Rob Dougherty about it...

I think that having it at GP Boston would be horrible.  Than we would be some kind of side event.  When the real event we are interested in is "The TMD Northeast Championship," and not GP Boston.

Yeah, I forgot to put a deadline on the poll so here it is:

Voting ends January 6th at 12:00am EST.

When exactly is GP Boston?

I'm starting to think that maybe we should postpone this tournament indefinitely until I have the prizes in hand since I have no clue what the prizes are going to be or where to get them and also because deciding on the date is shaping up to be a serious problem.

@kl0wn - I think you should postpone it until you get everything squared away (prizes, entry fee, etc.).

someone said this in another post, and i think it is the opinion of a lot of people on this site (i could be wrong):

we shouldn't go overboard on prizes the first time around.  if we get a black lotus for 1st, and have 2nd - 4th depend on attendance we should be fine.  i think most of us aren't as interested in huge prizes as we are excited about going to a large event, meeting people from the site, showing off our skillz and pet decks and having a good time.

i think the most important thing is to find a good date (seems that the location, syracuse, is fine).  and then agree on a reasonable entry that will first, entice people, and second, cover the prizes.  i'm sure there's other complicating factors, but if we stick to this i think we could pull it off for early march (is this the best time?).

i also think that instead of a poll that only allows one vote, we should have people say which of the six they can make, and then keep track.  perhaps this is a little overboard, but to really get a feel for who could make it, advertising across all the forums and maybe a blast-email would get better feedback than this thread.

i just think it could be a great event, so long as we keep it simple and don't keep pushing it back.  anyone else here share my sentiments?

Now I don't mind what date the tourny will be on. Since I broke my leg and will be in a cast for 10 weeks, I wouldn't miss a February date, so any of the days is fine for me. If the tournament is going to be held at Altered States however, I suggest it be on a saturday, because there isn't as much going on than on sunday. All saturday has is sealed at 12, then Standard at 4, as opposed to Sunday which has 1.5(which gathers a lot more participants) at 12, then Yu-Gi-Oh! also at 12. Seeing the Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments is a fucking nightmare. Every sunday- 60 kids playing in a tournament. It's Hell. So make sure the tournament(if at Altered States) is on a Saturday.

It looks like this thing is back on within the near future. After a brief discussion among the Binghamton Adepts, it looks like 1st place is going to be an Unlimited Lotus (most likely courtesy of CrazyCarl), while 2nd-4th may be a playset of Illusionary Masks and decent Legends rares.

We have prizes, now we just need to come to a final decision on the date.

I think early March will be best.

I think Saturday March 8th is the safest and best date. Unless anyone has any serious objections, I'm going to slam the "Gavel" and let Carl/Bryce check the date out with Altered States.

I think March 8 is a good call.  Besides the fact that I am personally happy since I can attend on that date, I think there is a big difference between the voting system and the best date.  What I mean is, technically by a measley one vote February 22 is in the lead (at the point of this post) but the weekend of March 8 looks better having a much higher combined total as opposed to the Feb 22 weekend.  Second, I believe that alot of people (or maybe all) who voted for February 22 are the people who could and would make it no matter which of the days it was.  Why pick the 22nd, well because it is the soonest of course.  Yet the people who didn't vote for the 22nd are people who simply can't make the 22nd.  I have a hunch that if you set up the poll so you can vote for any day you could make it instead of your first choice it would look different.  I welcome comments agreeing and disagreeing with these points.

Thanks

I believe Mar 8, being a 2nd Saturday, conflicts with a Hadley power tournament.
Of course, that may not be a bad thing.
IAmFishMan can't take it home if he's not here.

If its that far away I can easily get the Hadley tournament changed, it shouldn't be a problem. Someone PM right away if you do decide to do it that way though so I can work on changing it ASAP (and because then I'll know when I have to get off work to come down to this piece).

While I think that this post makes a point.  I also think it contains the most broken logic I have ever witnessed.

Anyway, I agree on March the 8th.  It sounds like as good a time as any, and if we can set this date I can go about getting this date off from work.  Also if we agree on this soon the Hadley guys can reshedual theirs.  I think all we are missing on this is Steve(Zherbus) saying he can make it.

Kl0wn, I know I was on the prize commitee for the last date so if you need help procuring things, let me know.

Mise. Mo' help.

Sure, any and all help will be appreciated. Whatever you can get your hands on will most likely be cool. Nothing too big though, since we want to keep our expenses down.

The prize structure vs. estimated entry fee pool at the moment goes something like this:

1st: Unlimited Black Lotus
2nd: Half of a Black Lotus
3rd: 1/4 of a Black Lotus
4th: Foil Enslaved Dwarf

I shall begin negotiations with Altered States tomorrow. Er...later today...

Eh...whenever I wake up.
