Score one for the goose

[Redman]

Well, I forgot to save the logs, so here's my synopsis:

Redman (Loosey Goosey Zoo) v. Dave "I'm in a hurry so speed it up, why don't ya" Kaplan (Goblin "quicker than combo because there's no decisions to make" Sligh. )

Game 1:

I play critters, he plays critters, I burn his, he can't touch mine. I swing with tight men. mise.

Game 2:

Nothing to say except my deck is serious 'tings and my SB is so tech it isn't funny. Really. mise.




OK, here's my real report.


Game 1:

I win the roll, and start by laying some fierce fetchiness. I take a point. I see a hunger growng in my opponent, as first blood is spilled.  I play a somewhat diminshed Nimble Mongoose, and pass the turn.  He plays Lackey. I burn Lackey. I swing, lay a Mongoose of the Nimble kind.  He plays Pup. I burn Pup. Swing and lay a Kird Ape.  He plays Flunky. I play Sylvan. Swing with all but one Mongoose. His response: "?" I pay him no heed (I was born at night, but it wasn't last night), and he bolts my Kird Ape.  He goes, lays Pup, and finds out why they called me Clairvoyant Cal (well, they should have, anyway). When he plays Charge on Pup and attacks with both, I block the pup, saving me 5 damage, causing him 1 and putting me that much closer to threshold.  From then on a beefier Mongoose and Kird serve beats, as the Flunky finds himself all alone.

SB: -4 Chain +4 Fire/Ice

Game 2:

He keeps, as do I. He plays Lackey. I play fetchie, Taiga, Ape, Mox. He plays Flunky. I go, play Scroll, Flunky waves bye-bye (Incinerate, Ice Age  ) As I'm not the beatdown, I pass the turn.  He plays a Lackey, I Fire away his side, Strip his mountain, and attack. Next I play Mongoose. He plays Pup and Fanatic, and attacks. I block Fanatic with Ape, Pup with Goose, and take 3 from the Flunkster.  He pops the Fanatic at me as he takes 2 from his puppy.  I play Wastelands and attack as he Grenades me. He can't find another creatures, as I'm attacking with Ape and Scrolling him (naming Timetwister). He Bolts me, putting me at 7, while I have 4 land in play.  He's at 1, I Scroll him.  He PoPs me, I Armageddon myself in response. I knew the Wastelands would come in handy. Mise.

I must say I'm impressed with the level of play and this report.  Its rare to see 1) insightful play with aggro 2) indepth reports without logs and 3) something that makes me actually want to play aggro.  Well, until I remember that I suck with it

Congrats.  Just curious, though:  Why side out Chains before things like Sylvan and possibly your draw-7s?

Also, should the REBs be, say, Scalds/Sirrocos, since you're not trying to force PoP through?  Or are you gunning for some shot against blue-based combo?\n\n

Good question.  Basically at the time I was giving myself some sort of reasoning regarding not getting bolts thrown back at me, though had there been a game 3 I probably would have dropped the draw-7s and the Sylvan for the Fire/Ices.

Scald isn't used becasue i'd likely get burned (I do run 7 Islands of my own) and Sirocco, cool as it is, doesn't seem that great. REB doesn't really help _that_ much, but I generally was lazy about the SBing (admittedly the worst part of my game). Besides, it can help force through draw-7s if neccesary. Any other suggestions are of course welcome.

You got lucky. Simple as that. Don't try and make this into something more than it is. You had strip by turn 3 both games, I drew poorly, you drew well. I don't think this is a great matchup, but don't even try and patronize me by editing our game logs to make me appear as a deer caught in the headlights of your roaring match win. I take this as a direct insult, as do others. If I were you I would consider bringing up my game etiquette and please don't: intentionally stall when in a "winning" position, go and make yourself a cup of tea during our match, not include my statement of "you should have boarded that out" when you revealed Timetwister in game 2, and than act like you knew to do it and Cid reminded you.
