Since this was a road trip tournament, I'm treating everybody to the experience of seven hours in a car...
It starts off in Summerville, South Carolina.  After getting off work at 4 pm, I drive to Shawn's.  We had decided to take his car because $80 in gas is less than $120-150 or so in my explorer.  As a result only three of us came(sorry Dave+Gohan).  We spent the next couple hours running wire through his car because he had not yet moved his system from his old car.  Part way through Shawn's dad asks if we want some Cheeseburgers.  Uh, Yeah?!?  so we eat cheese burgers for a while, and watch basketball.  We then go out to finish his system. After we get everything hooked up(around 8pm) we realize the fuse on the power cable was blown.  so we don't have loud tunes.  anyway, we go get billy now.  after getting billy, we stop by shawn's again and I play around with Homestarrunner.com  I <3 Trogdor!!.  around 11 we decide to leave.  So we get on I26 west listening to Evanescence.  I95 to 295? was Linkin Park, and 295 was mainly Mega Man theme music beatings.

Also, many jokes were said about Billy's sister(Go lolita go.  can't wait for her to turn 18!!!!!!!lol)

we get there around 8am or so and sleep for 2-3 hours.

they annonuce the prize changes and such, and I am happier now.

out
2 Misdirection(I only saw unmask to Misd)
2 Cunning Wish
1 Merchant Scroll
In
3 Naturalize
2 Smother

Game 2: he had 1st turn combo, I killed the PD he played another one and Willed one into play.  I realized after the match that he couldn't of done that but its to late..I also had nothing to deal with just one and was at 6 life so it would not of mattered.

matches 0-1-0
games 0-2-0

round 2: Jay Parsons, Ankh Silgh.
game 1: i let him play creatures, and drop a dryad with a Misd 2x daze for backup.  He can't handle it.

1 Yawgmoth's Will
In
2 Smother

Out:
1 Regrowth
2 Cunning Wish
3 Daze
In
3 Duress
3 Naturalize

Game 2: He mulligans and I have a very good hand.  I counter most of his spells and Dryad him.  Dryad stayed a 1/1 for a while b/c I had 2 fow and a misd.

matches 2-1-0
games 4-2-0

round 4: ?, Mask.

Game 1: I counter his stuff, dryad cleans up.
out
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Regrowth
3 Daze

2 Cunning Wish
In
3 Naturalize
2 Smother
3 Duress

game 2:  He goes Unmask, Swamp, Ruby, Sol Ring, Blood Moon.  i scoop.

game 3: He consults for a Sea, and removes like 3 masks and 2 dreadnought.  I win.

matches 3-1-0
games 6-3-0

Round 5, Schaffenacher?, GAT

I suck at playing any mirror that is not Void.  I lose horribly. I do not wish to discuss my total suckitudity.

matches 3-2-0
games 6-5-0

round 6, ?, Void
great, my toughest match..
game 1:  This was a very long game.  I end up winning it with gush->tog.

i do not remember my siding.  If you can't tell I like to side random out random stuff to see what happens.

game 2:  2nd turn void+factory.  scoop

game 3: Time Walk + Dryads.

matches 4-2-0
games 8-6-0

T8 Darren(Azheri) Hulk.
game 1:  It came down to him ancestraling into no land.  he had a Drain, I had a dryad out(1/1) he only has 1 mana open.  i drop a tog + timewalk. swing for 3,  untap, gush win.

out
2 Daze
2 Wish
Vampiric
mystical
In
3 Duress
2 Smother
1 Edict

game 2:  i scoop when he strips my 1 land.

game 3: I believe he mulls, i duress, he fow's, I misd.  I see land, Ak, Intuition.  bye-bye intuition.  he really see's little from his deck while I draw like a god.

t4 Josh Reynolds(SliverKing), Keeper

Game 1: Isn't close. he owns me.
out
3 daze
1 mystical
1 Yawg will
1 vamp
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Fastbond
in
3 duress
2 Steely resolve
3 Naturalize

Game 2: I drop land, he drops a future sight without backup.  it lands   i topdeck Naturalize   use it.  I cast a dryad, he counters.  Im done, he land gos i drop a  dryad, it hits. i make it a 3/3 and have a fow+misd to back it.  I ride it for the game.

game 3: I drop a turn 1 steely resolve(dryad.) two turns later I have a dryad.  It winson my 8th turn.

t2 David(thorme), Ducktape
game 1:  we stalemate for a while.  I get beserk and swing for it.

out
some cards?
in
3 duress
3 naturalize
2 smother.

game 2.  I throw this away.  I manage to get him to 7 life, and I have a 3/3 dryad, and 1 mana open.  he has 1 card in hand.  I know my next 2 draws off brainstorm(gush and tog) he has a Sphere in play.  He casts Tangle wire.I gush, tapping out instead of countering it...lack of sleep is bad.  I lose this game b/c he gets out a stack and owns.  oh well, at least I lose to good people.

game 3: he gets out a karn and a smokestack.

So I get a Moat, and had a hell of a time.  I really envy the people who play there regularly.  the metagame is extremely stron, and everyone there had a type 1 deck(here we see 1.x and t2 sometimes), and most everybody was a really good player.

Props
Shawn, for driving for 14 hours.
Thorme, for winning with Ducktape while hungover. NICE.
all my opponents, for being very sportsmanlike.
Steely Resolve, for handling a problem match.

slops,
Submerge.  I have not used it yet after 3 tournaments.
ebony charm.  see above.

Ian Bennett was with Mask... Josh Reynolds was with Keeper.

Jesse covered our Top4 match pretty well.  Just to round that out from my perspective. Game 2 was were I kicked myself out of the tournament with 2 big mistakes on that very first turn; I should have led with LoA instead of Future Sight (as I still had the option to future sight if LoA proved too slow, but dropping the jewelry to Future Sight made LoA worthless.)  having played only one other GAT matchup ever, I'm willing to chalk that up to inexperience (plus exuberance over how BADASS Future Sight had been ALL DAY).  The second mistake was less forseeable. I didnt guess he'd be bringing Naturalize...  The only real threat enchantment for him was The Abyss, and Steely Resolve does just fine at neutering the Abyss. WHile I'm willing to admit the mistake I was still one untap phase from breaking that game open... Future Sight is retardedly good.
My big mistake in game 3 was not drawing white mana... but thats just what happens some times.  Jesse played well, and the matchup is tight as it is, I dont expect to win them all.
Its a shame Charleston is so far away, Those SC guys are good competition.

Hmmm, yes, that is interesting.  I suppose if he didnt know your decklist he might be gunning against a Grim/Power win condition?  Or maybe an Ensnaring Bridge?  I don't think the Abyss by itself is good enough to SB against.  You have to find it, resolve it and then keep him from playing 2 creatures.

Anyway, SB-wise I really want to bring in the 3 Duress.  That pushes Mystical, Vamp and a Daze out.  I probably bring in the 2 Steely Resolves for 2 more Daze, though I do like to keep showing Daze in the later games to keep my opponents on their toes.  Maybe just one unless I totally love Steely Resolve (v. 1xAbyss, 3xStP?).

Comments on this SB plan?

I agree with you on the ebony charm, the only time i've ever used it was to wish and deal the final point of damage to some guy, i'm really liking that steely resolve idea though, as your opponent will probably side out anything that can nail it.

Well, the Naturalizes came in in case he had Cop black or something.  Steelys don't solve that one so.  Also, I wanted to make sure I could deal with a future sight, and just in case of a Moat.

Steely also prevents them from REBing a Tog.

I also have some more mad tech for the keeper match, but it is rather useless versus everything else(combo with steely resolve).  I'm not going to post it until it's tested cause I think I'll look stupid.

As for your side plan Fishhead, I would not suggest that anyone go with my siding plans, as they tend to be rather random.  I do think yours look good though.

Good job at the tourney, glad to see that charleston is making an impact in more places than one, especially if its my own team member thats doing it. Your decklist looks good to except for the cunning wishes, but thats my own opinion.
