Shockwave: Thanks for the shoutout, we loved having you down...

As far as the address, I don't have that with me, so I'll post it later. Sorry for any inconvenience...

EDIT: I may have missed your point... the tourney is located in the Kansas City area, as noted by the tourney title. I will write a specific address when I get it.

The prize is huge, we always have a fairly large turnout and the competion is good.  Why has this not generated more interest?  I haven't even heard much hype from the locals.

Do we have any other out-of-towners joining us?

No promises, but there may be a very slight chance I'll be there.  It's a pretty god damn long drive. . .  but possible.

I might fly in again for this one, if I can find a place to stay that is relatively cheap. Is anyone offering shelter for foreigners? lol

Is it sanctioned, btw?

Most likely not.

The guy who acts as judge and T.O. for A to Z's tournaments has never actually taken the DCI's test.  Therefore, nothing is sanctioned...which sucks as I'm sure you know.

So, if you care about rating, don't bother I guess.

Depending on how I feel on Saturday I might be making the drive from Denver to take some Moxes

Hopefully the competition is as good as it was when I left KC, I would be dissapointed to see you guys slacking.

Congrat's to KC's own Craig Edwards for  beating 2 combo decks with Ankh Sligh in the top 4 and taking home the Alpha Sapphire and Jet, and Unlimited Emerald, Pearl and Ruby.

Who took the 2-4th?

Wish I could have been there for it, but went up there few weeks ago for my sister-in-law's commencement, so didn't have time off for another trip. =(

42 people entered, and I kid you not that Ankh Sligh beat Dragon and then Rector-Trix to take the gold.

Not only did he beat them, but he 2-0'ed them.

I've never seen anything like it.

Ofcourse, it did help in that 2nd game vs. Trix that Sligh drew 3 wates and the strip all within 4 turns.

Yes yes yes yes yes.

Luck?  Pehaps.  Cheating?  Absolutly not.

He just burned the guy out, plain and simple, before he could get the combo out.  Game one, Trix guy got a rector out but died before he could do anything with it.

Game two, Trix died with no permanents on the board and no cards in hand.  (this is where drawing 4 strips within the first 4 turns came into play.)

Either way, Sligh won.  Call it what you will.

I hear ya.

The funny thing is (well, I'm sure the guy playing Trix doesn't think it's funny) that they played in the swiss rounds and Trix handed Sligh his only loss of the day.

Before the final match, the two agonized for 15 or 20 minutes about how to just split the prize 3/3 (the 5 moxes and the 2nd place TimeWalk).  Finnaly the Trix guy and his crew decided that the match was so much in Trix's favor that they decided to just play it out.

I bet Trix guy kicked himself all the way home.

I agree, the Magic Gods were with Sligh that day.  It just all worked out in Sligh's favor every time.
