Hi,
a friend of mine told me about this site. I don't play competitive Magic, I'm playing just for fun, so please don't flame me for being a scrub. I built this Rats deck to play against my friends, and it want it to remain a Rats deck. This is my current deck list:
14 Swamp 4 Dark Ritual 2 Peat Bog 1 Cabal Coffers
4 Unholy Strength 4 Sinister Strength 3 Fear 3 Word of Binding 1 Throne of Bone 2 Urza's Incubator (I'm trying to get another 2) 4 Paralyze
4 Ravenous Rats 2 Dirty Wererat 4 Pestilence Rats 4 Plague Rats 4 Razortooth Rats
I don't have power or any legends rares, so please keep your card suggestions as cheap as possible. I hope to get some feedback.
Thank you
BenDer

With rats I think you donīt need any mana-bumpers like Cabal Coffers other than Dark Ritual. And Urzaīs Incubator seems pointless, too.
You should have more rats in your deck and less pump. Have a look at Crypt Rats from visions (in which case you might want to keep the Coffers) and others I donīt know the name now (will look it up if I have the time). Cut the Fears to make room, Fear does not give you much with small creatures like rats. Replace some of the local pump spells with general pump, Bad Moons if you can get them or Nocturnal Raid.
And - welcome to TMD. Someone flaming you because you are new would have really hard times here, so relax.

I will have to look if I get Bad Moons. ī I have one questions about the Incubators: I think they are really very good for my deck because if I have one of them out, I can play all my rats for B. I will think about it and post a new decklist as soon as I have something in mind.
Thank you very much

But most rats arenīt that expensive anyway and you need the mana and time to play the Incubator first. To my mind itīs only useful with a creature type that costs 3-5 mana usually like Kavus for example.

Hi,
I looked at all the rats etc. and that is what I have in mind at the moment:
Mana Base:
18 Swamp 2 Cabal Coffers 4 Dark Ritual
Pump
4 Noctunal Raid (I'm unable to get Bad Moon)
Rats
4 Bog Rats (just to have some kind of "weenie" in the deck) 4 Crypt Rats (for use with Cabal Coffers) 4 Diseased Vermin (are they really good? would be glad if you could help me about this) 4 Pestilence Rats 4 Lab Rats (well, I could have to put more swamps in to use this efficiently (Buyback!) but I like this card) 4 Ravenous Rats 4 Plague Rats 4 Carrion Rats
Do I need Removal or other Utility (Greed, Vampiric Embrace etc.)?
Thank you very much

Even though you are keeping with the rat theme, it's hard to make a black deck and not suggest putting Duress in it.
It is a common in 7th edition, and removes any nonland card from opponents hand for only 1 black. I would take out whatever you consider your weakest rats, and put the Duress'es in. It would be a great card to cast off a first turn dark ritual with a 2CC rat (if there are any, I don't keep up on rats )
If anything it will pull a Lightning bolt or other pesky card out of his hand and it will give your friend's some minor headaches.

Thank you all. I just thought Drain Life could be very useful to support the Crypt Rats... so this is what the deck list looks like right now:
18 Swamp 4 Dark Ritual 2 Cabal Coffers
4 Drain Life
4 Bog Rats 4 Crypt Rats 4 Diseased Vermin 4 Pestilence Rats 4 Lab Rats 4 Ravenous Rats 4 Sewer Rats
4 Duress
What do you think about it now?
Thank you,
BenDer

Deseased Vermin isnīt any good, except in multiplayer. You would need that Fear back in order to make this good, but donīt do it, you would have two different cards in your that are only good when played together. If you donīt have such things, your deck will be more consistent (not to speak of that creature enchantments are card disadvantgeous:one only have to kill the Vermins and you lost two cards).
I think you should playtest now, the deck looks solid now without any mayor problem and is about 85% of the strength a rat-theme deck could be. Further suggestions either involve cards you canīt get (Bad Moon), cards that are out of theme or cards that are more of personal preferences. So playtest first and tell us if you faced any problems, then we can adjust your deck or build a sideboard.

BenDer,
Is this deck intended for duels or multi-player? In the case of the latter, I would take out Duress (doesn't quite have the same effect when you have multiple opponents to deal with). Also, one rat which has been overlooked is Dirty Wererat. It's the biggest rat you're going to find (4/5 with threshold) and a regenerator, so it should come in handy in your deck.
Oops, I see you had Dirty Wererat in your original deck. I think it's a worthwhile card to keep in.
