Hi,

I found this decklist in the Extreme Vintage forums. It was posted by kl0wn and I think it's called "The Great White Hype" or something like that:

4 Land Tax
3 Scroll Rack
2 Zuran Orb

3 StoP
2 Wrath Of God
1 Balance
1 Humility

2 Sacred Mesa
1 Soldevi Digger
1 Phyrexian Furnace

4 Orim's Chant
3 Aura Of Silence
1 Story Circle
1 Enlightened Tutor
1 Ivory Mask

4 Argivian Find
3 Replenish

1 Mox Diamond
1 Mox Pearl
1 Sol Ring
1 Black Lotus

1 Strip Mine
3 Wasteland
1 Library Of Alexandria
14 Plains

I love this deck, but I don't have any money at the moment. I think I could make ~100$ if I get a job in the holidays, so: Is it possible to build a good Parfait for less than 100 bucks?

Second, I wanted to ask what to modify if playing in an aggro metagame or in a control metagame.

At least, I have some questions about Parfait's matchup. How does this deck do against:

Neo Academy, Keeper, Tubbies, Sligh, Stompy, Oath, Squirrelcraft, Sui, Random SCrub Deck?

I would be really glad if someone could help me.

Thank you very much

Well yeti.. your in luck.. all in all an unpowered parfait will cost about 100 bucks. The only things that you wont be able to get are library, lotus, and mox pearl, which can easibly be replaced with plains and or artifact mana
sol ring
mox diamond
1 mind stone
2 marble diamonds

Replace moat with humility which in most cases is even better than moat anyways.

About the match-ups Parfait does quite well in a mixed meta, most trouble comes with control, but it still does pretty good. The best part bout parfait is the mana base. Add a mountain main deck and a blood moon and you will have a lot easier time with control (if blood moon resolves).
Hope this somewhat helps and have a blast playing parfait, if you play it well you can then get a lotus and mox!

Well, this build is definitely better suited for a control metagame--it runs 3x replenish, and no ivory towers.

To make it cheaper, just replace
mox pearl--->marble diamond
black lotus--->lotus petal
Library of Alexandria--->serra's sanctum/marble diamond

The petal still lets you cast Tax asap (although you should always draw first, making this less necessary), while the diamond(s)/sanctum let you have more mana than land, so you can function while abusing tax.

Another possiblity (suggested, but not tested by Kl0wn) would be to run 4x diamond, and some cities of traitors, which would make taxing much easier.

The rest of the deck is *very* easy to get (although not so easy to play). $100 should be more than enough for the whole deck, if you're careful (so don't get into bidding wars on ebay, etc.)

Thanks a lot. I modified it a bit:

Mox Pearl -> Marble Diamond
Library -> Marble Diamond
2 Replenish -> 2 Ivory Tower
Black Lotus -> Lotus Petal

4 Land Tax
3 Scroll Rack
2 Zuran Orb
2 Ivory Tower

3 StoP
2 Wrath Of God
1 Balance
1 Humility

2 Sacred Mesa
1 Soldevi Digger
1 Phyrexian Furnace

4 Orim's Chant
3 Aura Of Silence
1 Story Circle
1 Enlightened Tutor
1 Ivory Mask

4 Argivian Find
1 Replenish

1 Mox Diamond
2 Marble Diamond
1 Sol Ring
1 Lotus Petal

1 Strip Mine
3 Wasteland
14 Plains

Are you sure I could be able to get this for less than 100 bucks? Strip Mine, Sol Ring and Mox Diamond aren't really cheap, you know...

Just got an Antiq Stripmine for only 7.00, 4th edition ones go for only 2 to 4 dollars.

Mox Diamond you can get for less than 10.00, Sol Ring from Revised, 5 or 6.00.

Just search eBay for cheap buy-it-now auctions or do some local trading. Everyone has extra Strips since they are restricted....

As you said, Lotus Petal does nothing in there, or does it..?
(I think it does not,)
Isn't Diamond restricted also?

Does the deck have enough enchantments for the sanctum to be worthvile? (if it was, wouldn't it be on the original list also?)

If you wish to fool around, you could also play Prayer with the Humility...

I have another question: What about Spellbook (Artifact, 0, You have no maximum hand size) in Parfait? That way, you could exchange even more cards with Scroll Rack each turn because you can keep the lands drawn with Land Tax. Is this an idea or is this just an idiotic newbie thought?

Not a bad idea, but there are already so many cards I wish I had room for.  There are actually quite a few cards that fall into this category, such as Moat, Planar Birth, and extra Replenishes, among others.

Also, I saw a suggestion somewhere else that said to run unpowered Parfait with four Cities of Traitors and four Marble Diamonds.  Haven't tested it myself, but it sounds reasonable.
